Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR News Post

According to responses on the official Twitter feed for Rory McIlroy PGA Tour, the game will not include The Masters, because the Augusta National license has expired. EA Sports will continue to explore opportunities to include it post-launch, but it doesn't sound likely.

The trial version of Rory McIlroy PGA Tour will be available on EA Access, up to five days before release date. We will know more about it when the official release date is revealed. The game is scheduled to release sometime in June. For more Rory McIlroy PGA Tour details, check the game page.

Slightly disappointing. Would've looked GORGEOUS with this game engine.

Cannot wait for this game and I expect to pay around $120 for it with all the DLC and I'm fine with that.

X2 here. That $$ will be paid before the game releases. Sucks that Augusta won't be in and that can't be denied but I loved TW14 and I'm sure this one will be played just as much if not more.

Kind of figured with the June release date. I can see them trying to get it for next year. Hopefully with more horsepower the ps4 has over last gen system there will be plentiful of courses. Just hoping they don't pull an nhl 15.

Well, that's unfortunate.

Glad to hear this game is going to be on EA Access. After the NHL fiasco I'd be concerned to see what modes make the game this year, if it's full featured, and how the gameplay is. They've had plenty of time to work on it IMO, so it should be full featured, with plenty of courses.

I'd like to think EA has taken a look at the course creator in TGC and the possibility of endless courses in their competition's product. Hopefully they notice that, and include plenty of courses in the game purchase price, while reducing the cost of a possible DLC package for additional courses. One game is doing it for free... I get, and appreciate that these are real courses, that cost money to license in EA's DLC packs, but hopefully they realize the fact they can be created endlessly in a competitors product, and drop the price. I've found their DLC offerings to be great from a content standpoint, but not from a pricing standpoint in this series. Hopefully the availability of TGC and it's course creator cause EA to think about what they charge for the DLC. It's a big hope I'm sure, but... I think they should strongly consider it.

Sim mode was pretty challenging for TW14. I'm excited.

You'll probably acquire an early copy as well.

If they end up pulling a NHL and making it bare bones and pulling out features that were in TW14 (so they can slyly reinstate them in later versions, ie: Augusta) then this game will be a sales disaster.

They won't be getting my money, and I also don't have to buy a PS4, which I had planned to buy just for this game, so it works out well for me.

Maybe the lack of info is because they have nothing else to announce regarding new features that weren't in the game before. What a letdown that's gonna be for a game they apparently needed 2 years to make.
Lol no out of bounds a gimmick? Are you serious? You either never played golf before or just looking for something to complain about. Of course there will out of bounds. the new engine frostbite will let you play a different hole if a slice/hook one into the next fairway. It happens in real life too. It will be placed realistically I'm sure just as with every other boundry. But alas some people just have this agenda that if ea is making it, it can't be good.

That's usually an accurate statement. Actually EA usually makes pretty decent games, but they always have at least one thing that is broken in them that drive purist nuts and take away the sim element. Excluding Augusta definitely feels like a DLC money grab.

Contracts take two to tango. Maybe Augusta just said "No", they are an authority unto themselves in the golfing world, The Masters tournament is fully run by them and not the USGA or R&A

Was excited when announced but with lack of list of courses, getting concerned... I don't want another fictional course game, have that with the Golf Club which sits dormant on my PS4, hate that game... With EA having a PGA license, was hoping for 20+ actually courses... Not really in the mood to shot over a battleship or through a pyramid in a jungle... Lack of PGA courses will be a deal breaker. I don't mind paying for DLC, but want a course list before the game is released to see if it is worth the $59.99 out of the gate... This could be another NHL15 debacle...

No it's still there but it's just a placeholder as that is a Thursday.

Gsize, what don't you like about The Golf Club? Have you played it after recent patches this year? Is it you only like real courses? Some of the designs are really great. Better than most real courses even.

Recently, I found a great way to view shot in real time. Choose the view that stays behind golfer, then during ball flight, press X button at any time and camera will smoothly catch up to ball. It is a great feature, because you control when the camera pans to ball, or not at all. Check it out.

Explains some of my amazon calls when they do not understand things... LOL jk (sorta)

Games without official release dates always have a placeholder when available to pre-order. Always been that way.

Agreed, I think Golf Club is fantastic. One of my all-time favorite golf games. I'm amazed at the skill of some of the course designers out there - there are some real gems to play. But I'm not an either/or kind of guy - I'm sure I'll get into EA Sports' golf game, too, I'm looking forward to it.

I just hope, for the love of Bobby Jones that they get rid of that Goddang cartoony big-headed clubs. WHY is it so difficult to make them look normal??? The driver looks like a bowling ball on the end of a stick! I DO understand that clubs ARE bigger nowdays, but not as big as they show in the game. It's ridiculous.

SDwinder, that's what I don't like about it, it's all fictional courses, just not a fun game. I have played it post patches, it loses its value after a few holes for me. Just grip and rip, I have never had a bad drive in this game... Just my opinion, and like everyone, I have one. I'm just not a fan of the golf club... EA has the PGA license, they need to come up huge...

I'm lookin forward to the next Golf game with the fun country clubs and online tourneys, including Play the Pros. I've found that if you are actually willing to play on the higher difficulties, with boosts and post-shot spin turned off, the Tiger Woods played as solid of a game as TGC.

And I'll take licensed courses over user created ones every time. It's easier to set up online tours and tourneys with everyone on the same page. I'll pay for the real courses over sifting through the user created courses in hopes of filling out a library of ugly courses.

I think TGC is going to be great long term, but I don't pay for potential. I'll wait for them to release a better version.
I agree gustavus...

So I guess we'll be back to the 'Southern Open' at Pinehurst...

What most of you are unaware of, EVERYTHING to do with the PGA TOUR with any sort of brand name has a licensing fee associated with it. There is a licensing fee for using the name US Open, The Open, PGA Championship, and The Masters. The cost of many of these "names" and "brands" are extremely high so keep that in mind when comparing a licensed PGA TOUR Golf game with a non-licensed Golf game.
