Super Mega Baseball News Post

Although the baseball video game market is hardly represented on the console side of things, the one game that is available, MLB The Show by Sony of San Diego, does a great job of filling the simulation void. So what if you like the game of baseball, but are not interested in all the details that coincide with a simulation of the sport of baseball?

I'll pick it up. It's been awesome to see games like The Golf Club come along and offer sports gamers more options.

Looking forward to the release next week.

I spoke with a dev over at the forums on Super Mega Baseball's website. Unfortunately, we cannot customize every player in the league. We cannot customize attributes either.

Here are the things we can customize:
1. The appearances of all the players on our own team. Not the entire league, just our team. This includes things like a player's looks, body type, name, etc. We cannot, however, customize anyone's attributes.

2. During a season, we can hire coaches and trainers to improve our players.

This is a real shame. In an unlicensed game, full customization is vital. Especially in today's world. I am still looking forward to the game. Although, I can't help but be bummed out about this.

This game looks like it could be a lot of fun.
Bad News Baseball is one of my all-time favourite games. Sure it was arcady to sight, but under the hood it was a very solid, sim-like baseball game.
I hope SMB is the same.

Wow really disappointed about not having full customization. Big mistake by this small company. Sad but might not buy because of it.

Excited by the concept, but disappointed that it is not coming out on Vita, doesn't allow you to edit all players, and doesn't have multi-season play.

I don't know...for a game like this...I don't think full customization is imperative.
It might even improve the feeling of the game...not worrying about every little detail and just going with what it is...
JMO....

That is my feeling as well. Let the game take you where it wants to go.

I count 4 so far. I hope there are plans to add some more. 4 might be monotonous after a while.

Exactly. This game was made by a 3-5 man team. Enjoy it for what it is, support them, and perhaps we'll get deeper and richer content in the future from them!

Oh I am definitely supporting them still. It's nice to have a fun alternative. I will be picking up the game still. I just hope they add more customization somewhere down the line.

My thoughts exactly. Man, I loved Bad News Baseball. I remember playing that and Little League Baseball all the time. That damn bunny was an umpire.

4 is not enough.

or the ability to to download other users stadiums.

Yep exactly and they definitely need more editing options.

Was just reading some info on the PS blog and one of the devs was answering questions. Seems like a good dude and I like what I'm hearing. Definitely decided to support this game and give it try.

Looking forward to hearing some impressions.

Great idea and good value, but full customization is imperative to guarantee the game doesn't grow stale. Replay value is crucial to success.

Looking forward to seeing other customization options down the road as well. Uniforms, even stadiums... etc.
