WWE 2K15 News Post

2K has posted a blog detailing the WWE 2K15 Creation Suite. Unfortunately, they were unable to support new versions of Create-an-Arena, Custom Divas, Create-a-Championship and Story Designer.

They do continue to promote the Superstar Studio, which was detailed about a week ago, with video footage of the process.

Quote:
In previous years, we allowed players to change the color threads on the Superstars, as well as edit the attire on a limited amount of Superstars. For WWE 2K15 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, not only will you be able to edit the color threads on the Superstars and Divas, but you will also be able to change their attires! The gear of the Superstars and Divas is constantly changing, and we’ve heard feedback from the fans who want to keep their roster members as up-to-date as possible, which you’ll now be able to do! For example, in WWE 2K15, we have Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins in their Shield attire. With the features in Superstar Studio, you can very quickly update their gear to match what they are currently wearing by changing their in-ring attire, entrance attire and using the Logo Manager to import their logos for their merchandise. It’s an extremely quick and easy process for all of our fans.

Every attire part is given a value in the form of points, and a Superstar can use up to 128 points or 64 layers worth of attire parts. These points are shared between in-ring and entrance attires. Editing both the in-ring and entrance attires has never been easier thanks to a new user interface that allows players to seamlessly switch between them by pressing the trigger buttons. Being able to see both the in-ring and entrance models on the screen at the same time really expedites the entire process.

WWE and 2k are missing a golden opportunity with music. The WWE owns the rights to most of their music so why not add a DLC music store a la Rockband and charge $.99 a song to download into the game?

Charge for entrance songs? That seems like a good way to get fan backlash

In the wake of overdoing VC in the NBA 2K series, it would be a PR nightmare for 2K to even think about trotting out entrance themes you have to pay for every year. Especially given the number of people who say they skip entrances after the first viewing anyway.

I think this is pretty damn good. To be able to have perfect versions of Rollins and Ambrose, or indeed anybody on the roster is a godsend.

The way I look at it is like this. Over the years, these modes that have been cut from 2k15 didn't appear all at once and win us over from the start. They took time to develop, work out the kinks here and there and improve upon with each subsequent release. The PS4/XboxOne game is a new game that is being built up from scratch for the next gen systems, so there's a learning curve on the developers end. And going along with that, a new game has new coding and I'm sure there are aspects from the previous versions that can't be compatible. I liken it to building a new motor for a hot rod, sure you can bring over some components, but other pieces aren't going to fit.

I'm not trying to tell people they can't be mad/upset because you are right to have your own opinion. Of course, I'm disappointed in only 25 CAW slots and how they've taken out some of the creation options. But you know what? It can get better. Like the old cliche goes, Rome wasn't built in a day. Blast me all you want, but I'm going to be just fine over here enjoying this game.

No need to blast you. Very good way to look at it.

Very well said. I agree that some of the limitations and omissions are disappointing, but I can work through them. Honestly for a first year game built from the ground up, I think we are actually getting a pretty solid, robust game.

That's a very good way to look at it bro!! Amen to that!! Like you I'm frustrated with the things we have lost but as I said before I'm confident 2k will continue to build and make it better!!

Wonder if we can add face paint to the superstars, it'd be awesome if we could convert Cody Rhodes to Stardust.

After watching it again and hearing what they said about grappling moves. Has the number of moves been reduced at all?

I'm pretty sure they just added moves and didn't remove many but I'm sure someone can clarify that.

I'm really excited by the prospects of it. I also don't mind the 25 CAW slots. I used to download a TON of custom superstars then maybe use half of them or even have too few used because rosters got too large.

It will make me REALLY think when downloading stars and I can even have them "retire" throughout universe mode if I'm not into them and downloading someone else, or changing up a current WWE guys' gimmick with a new attire, etc.

Create-an-arena being removed was a bummer, and my wife will be upset about no create-a-diva, but the addition of career mode and the unlimited options for the creation suite is enough to keep this guy excited.

I think we have 26 possible moves to execute as far as standing grapples go.

I don't have much interest in the current product or today's "Universe". The CAW limit and create an arena limits the immersion.

I'll be back next year when it's added. I have the WWE Network to hold me over.

I like the way creation looks.
With how EA sports took nearly all the modes out of next gen NHL and with everything that will be missing in WWE I'm kinda feeling let down this year.
At least with WWE it feels like it will be a good game to play just not as deep but I'm happy with having a solid base to build upon.

I don't get the concept behind not having the ability to create females. That makes no sense.

They probably didn't want it to be a half-assed attempt, which is understandable. But having said that better to have that than nothing at all.

Pretty much my thoughts. Creating males and females evolved over time with new parts to add (though it has been stagnant for a few years). Created arenas were launched with lots of creativity for the ring, and only one stage. It was the second year where they added more stage templates. If they're rebuilding the game, it's unrealistic to expect it to be as feature- and option-packed as previous gen games, but I would have liked even basic versions of these features to utilize.

I think it'd be nice to have a developer blog/video showcasing (in laymans terms) what "rebuilding the engine" allows them to do, and citing specific gameplay examples to show that off. As it stands now, it's just the same vague marketing phrases like NBA 2K14's "brand new engine built from the ground-up" and Madden 13's "every pixel has been reinvented" stuff.

Yeah I think a developer diary with more insight on this stuff would help put people at ease. Because I know I don't know anything about the work that goes into making a video game. I do know it's a ton of work though.

You guys do know they are damned if they do and damned if they dont right. They dont put it in because they didnt have time (since they were implementing other things into the next gen) and people are going to bitch. They put it in and its not very good because they didnt have enough time to make it very good people are going to bitch because its not as good as the other features.
