NHL LEGENDS NOW AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY IN EA SPORTS NHL 15 HOCKEY ULTIMATE TEAM

Your dream NHL lineup is now ready for you to create. Electronic Arts announced that starting today, NHL® Legends are available in NHL 15 Hockey Ultimate Team (HUT) for the PlayStation®4 and Xbox One consoles. News on HUT Legends on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will be shared soon. With over 8 million games played and 34% player growth from NHL 14 to NHL 15, Hockey Ultimate Team continues to be the most popular mode in the NHL franchise. With NHL Legends, there’s even more reason to play and improve or create the perfect team of superstars from the past and present. Imagine what’s possible when you have current Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby picking up speed through the neutral zone alongside former greats Mario Lemieux and the ‘Russian Rocket’ Pavel Bure, while Ray Bourque patrols your blue line and Patrick Roy mans your goal crease. Each Legend will have their own distinct look, unique attributes, and may be available in Gold Packs.

Throughout the year, NHL 15 will be releasing special edition items to celebrate historic performances and milestones by these Legends. Learn more about these historic NHL moments and limited edition items at our HUT Legends website.

Full List of HUT Legends
  • Wayne Gretzky
Quite simply the best player to ever lace them up. When you consider that he had more assists (1,963) than anyone had points, it really puts his offensive dominance into perspective. Take control of The Great One, only in Hockey Ultimate Team.
  • Mario Lemieux
With an unparalleled combination of size, speed and skill, Lemieux was arguably the most physically talented hockey player to ever play the game. Experience why they called him Super Mario.
  • Patrick Roy
With three Conn Smythe Trophies and the most playoff wins of all-time, it’s not hard to see why many consider Roy the greatest goalie of all time. His impact on the goaltending world can still be felt today, as he popularized the butterfly style used by most goaltenders today.
  • Ray Bourque
The highest scoring defenseman of all-time threw over 6,000 pucks in the net during his NHL career, with many of those bulging the twine.
  • Joe Sakic
Burnaby Joe will go down as one of the best players and captains of this generation. He surpassed the 100 point plateau six times in his NHL career and won two Stanley Cup® Championships. Unleash Sakic’s world-class wrist shot on helpless opponents in HUT.
  • Nicklas Lidstrom
He made it look easy. With extraordinary awareness, stick work and positioning, Lidstrom was dominant on the defensive side of the puck. The seven-time Norris Trophy winner would be a perfect fit for any team.
  • Pavel Bure
When Bure was on the ice, it looked like a video game. It wasn’t just his explosiveness that separated him from the rest; it was his ability to pull off high-skill plays at incredible speed that made him almost impossible to stop.
  • Eric Lindros
For a period of time in the 1990’s Eric Lindros was the most physically dominant player in the NHL. At 6’4” and 240 pounds, ‘The Big E’ could punish you on the ice and the scoreboard.
  • Mike Bossy
During his era, Bossy was the best pure goal scorer the NHL had ever seen. He is the fastest player to score 100 goals and is still the record holder for most goals-per-game.
  • Luc Robitaille
Lucky Luc wasn’t the fastest skater or the most gifted player on the ice, but he always had a knack for being in the right spot at the right time. He still stands as the NHL’s highest scoring left winger of all-time.
  • Mike Modano
Drafted 1st overall in 1988 by the Minnesota North Stars, Modano lived up to the hype. He was one of the best skaters of his time and a prolific goal scorer – finishing his career as the highest scoring American-born player in NHL history.
  • Jari Kurri
Kurri was an integral part of the Edmonton Oilers dynasty in the 1980’s and was known as Gretzky’s right-hand man. He finished his career as the highest scoring European player in NHL history with 601 goals and 797 assists.
  • Doug Gilmour
A fan favorite wherever he played, Gilmour was nicknamed ‘Killer’ because of his physical style of play despite his small stature. He played a complete game and is a perfect fit anywhere in your HUT lineup.

Sweet, pretty excited for this. I'm assuming you can pull them in packs starting today? I wish there was more than one goalie though, but I'm really impressed/surprised Jari Kurri and Ray Bourque are in here. Definitely want one of these guys on my team. Well done for now EA, well done.

I think legends are a great and logical inclusion in HUT which should have as much depth as possible.

On teaser info graphic is showed a Anaheim Ducks logo, who on this list played for anaheim??

It kind of bums me out that Legends end up feeling like an after thought. It seems like a half hearted effort especially with only a dozen added.
Seeing all these old guys who actually wore the CCM HT2 helmet in the modern CCM looks bizarre. Did the old helmet not make it into next gen? Odd that they removed that while they adding back the Bauer 4500.
Roy really needs his mask paint scheme too. His pads are an ok attempt at his Montreal design, though not perfect.
It is cool to see kurri in the old jofa with a visor. Since the old style jofa helmet was added in NHL09, you couldn't pair it with a visor.

Ah Kurri played a season with the ducks in the '96-'97. Forgot about what a journeyman his career turned into.

I just don't see the point in making these legends an Ultimate Team exclusive when less than 5% of the userbase will be able to afford the 500,000 to 1,500,000 coins one of these cards will cost on the marketplace.

Why not make the legends playable in Exhibition mode, too?

It would be great to have classic teams in these games. Not more dreadful HUT cards to chase with time and money.

EA has done a pretty crappy job of using legends in their games. The Canadians historic team from a few years ago was damn cool - I wish we got more stuff like that.

# 6 Moose Factory @ 11/10/14 04:06 PM
Yeah it was NHL10 or 11 that had the historic Canadiens team and it was awesome! They also had a ton of legends to play with in other modes. It's annoying that the lack of consistency over the years just gets worse. I wish we could see something like how NBA2K handles classic teams.

If EA was smart they would give us more legends players and charge us for downloading them like in UFC with Bruce Lee and Royce Gracie. Give us all time original six teams and charge us like $9.99 per team or all six for a discounted price. If EA is all about the money (and clearly they are with HUT only legends). Give us all something we can enjoy. I play HUT for about 20 minutes then get tired of it.

Give us a real reason to love your game again EA. Let everybody have a chance to use legend players, not just HUT players.

These ratings are laughable. Lindros is a better skater then Sakic ? ya ok. Sakics shot rating only a 91.....ya ok again. Doug Gilmore is an 85 for skating ? Are any of the guys on the EA team even familiar with these players ?.... Not to mention a few others. I just listed a few no brainers that are directly tied to what these players strengths were....

I found the line "With over 8 million games played and 34% player growth from NHL 14 to NHL 15, Hockey Ultimate Team continues to be the most popular mode in the NHL franchise."......to be very depressing.

# 10 bibibanax @ 11/11/14 09:45 AM
It's sure that it's the most popular mode... it's the only one in the game that you have statistics!

If a play 2,000 games in Offline Be a GM, nobody will know it...

# 11 GlennN @ 11/11/14 11:14 AM
Kind of a snub to those of us who just play offline BeAGM, no?

# 12 sweetjones @ 11/11/14 04:04 PM
smh @ this news. I feel like Stars fans yelling at a goal against announcement, "Who...Cares"

Ugh. I want to play with the legends in gm mode. Like we use to a few years ago. I don't care about HUT

Big time. Bure is such a tease.

HUT is the most popular mode because it was the only one included with the game.....................

I'd like to EA to update the Legends squad with theese players. Seriously, only the first line up has Legends, the rest are not, just amazing players. I think it would be more realistic a Legend squad with theese players in there.

# 17 cake612 @ 11/14/14 03:37 PM
Has anyone actually pulled one of these yet? I've been playing a little more recently and have bought a bunch of packs the last few days and haven't seen one.

# 18 gator3guy @ 11/14/14 08:06 PM
Of course they would be exclusive to HUT lol.

Nice to see Lindros, too bad I'll never get to play with him.

# 19 actionhank @ 11/17/14 07:13 PM
Glad to see we're getting custom player models and faces for guys who haven't laced up the skates in a few years, while players who actually play right now haven't been added, and we can't put them in ourselves.

It's going to take a dump-truck of effort for EA to convince me to look at NHL16, much less purchase it. They should just call it EA'S HUT and then list "Be a GM" as a mini-game.
