NHL 15 News Post

EA Sports has finally released another NHL 15 roster update. The last update was way back on September 3rd. The update includes roster changes in the NHL, AHL, Liga, SHL, DEL, Extraliga ledniho hokeje, and National League.

They also released a new tuner update, details below.
  • Overall tuning pass for goal scoring balance.
  • Goalies will be weaker when forced to move more and/or when they end up in desperation saves. (goalie reaction/awareness tuning)
  • Puck carriers are now more accountable for being in control before shooting for better accuracy. (puck control/shot accuracy tuning)
  • High percentage scoring areas will be more advantageous to shoot from than when forced to shoot from bad angles. (shot accuracy and goalie reaction tuning)

I don't have PS plus

How the **** do u get these updates!!!??
From the main menu, click on "Play Online Now." Once you make it to the team selection screen, the game will have automatically downloaded the latest tuner.

To get the roster, you have to go to "View Roster" and then "Active Roster" to grab the latest one.

If you don't have PS+ Plus, you won't be able to get the tuner, but Sony does free PS+ weekends every so often, so you can get it when they do the next one of those.

Heres some things I noticed

Hits have been toned down greatly , more bumping

Passing lanes are looser so I got some through

Better control of my players

Didnt see hardly any of the Bouncing puck

Not much of the cpu super deke in and out move

CPU is less aggressive not all over you like before and you now have a tad more space to create .
I hope it's no placebo, but so far I have to agree with you. Feels more like hockey, now.
Penalties are still practically non existent, though.

Im online and dont have PS Plus and I get all updates !!! Gameplay tuner and rosters .
For rosters I click on roster tab , then active , then EA sports rosters and theres a list 10-17 and 9-3 to choose from and I on the right half of the screen it will say which is active.

Now on gameplay update I get a screen message real quick if I recall BUT if you have any doubts go to your settings tab click and go to gameplay settings , click and hold L2 and scroll to advanced settings tab , scroll down to Gameplay Version and you should have 3 options , V1:00 , V1:01 and Latest , Latest is the most current .

Well Im on default allstar and I had 6 penalties on 8 minute periods , 1 SHG in quick OT game with 4 hu PP so I have no issue but Im sure some of it is programming so expect to see some randomness.
Many penalties are still called off the puck but if I need more on me I will raised cpu teammate penalties .

Oh make sure your penalties are maxed in both screens as the one in rules setting likes to change sometimes .

I know there's a lot of white guys that play in the NHL, but Smith-Pelly of the Ducks is not one of them. Come on EA, if you guys would have done a real roster update instead of a half *** one because you got pressured into doing one by OS and others, (It should have already been done anyway) mistakes like this wouldn't happen.

How that guy named ramjagsingh can talk crap like that.
Next time...dont buy the game...that would send the $trong me$$age to EA.

I'm sorry as this may come off as rude, but are the roster issues any surprise? The NHL dev team has been terrible at doing roster/player updates for a very long time. Also when they have only released one update thus far it means they don't truly care about this area of the game. It's not that they were taking extra time for it. Hell guys on here could do a better roster update in 5 hours with less programming tools then what EA has. I know this lack of care in this area sucks and quite frankly it's disrespectful to all of the people who bought the game, but in no way should this kind of stuff come as a shock to people. Hearing about Devante Smith-Pelley being white is just EA's rosters summed up in a nut shell. If I were him I would actually be offended. They already had Ryan Reaves call them out earlier. The dev team just flat out doesn't care though.

is it known whether this if for last or current gen. or both?

Did they put Simon Gagne into the game on the Bruins roster?

Is it 1.01?

Or it Latest?

Logically 1.00 came with the game, 1.01 would be the one people have said was NHL Hitz and Latest would be the latest tuner released.

But I am using logic and EA doesn't always work that way.

From what it looks like they will keep progressing as the NHL Hitz version was latest until yesterdays update then it became V1:01 and so on it will go when theres a new update .

I've played a couple of Be A GM games with the new tuner, and I have a few observations.

(1) Goalies are definitely more sluggish going from side to side, making it easier to score on cross-crease passes and breakaways. I haven't gotten into a shootout with the new tuner yet, but I would assume that it's easier to score there as well for the same reason.

(2) Because of (1), goalies also have a harder time recovering from desperation saves. This goes both ways -- I've had a goal for and a goal against because of the resulting open nets.

(3) Players are much less aggressive with hits, unless it's called for. Hit power appears unchanged from the last tuner, but they don't go for them nearly as often. Players seem to jostle and nudge rather than trying to truck people. The current balance is much cleaner.

(4) There is a lot more stick activity. Both my AI teammates and the CPU opponents were doing more poke checks and stick lifts, with varying levels of success.

(5) As a consequence of (4), there are more tripping and interference penalties. In my last game, there were 3 penalties a side.

(6) I feel that passing may have been tweaked a bit because I noticed both teams with more open lanes. This may be a result of the toned-down hitting. The CPU passing also seems a little less accurate than before -- they missed a few easy ones in my games.

EDIT: A couple more ...

(7) The CPU takes a lot more shots now. I've actually been outshot by the CPU in 2 of the last 3 games, which practically never happened before this tuner.

(8) This may be a coincidence, but I've had two injuries in the last three games with the new tuner -- after only one injury in the previous 37.

I'm not getting the new tuner either. Mine still just reads V 1.00 and Latest. On -line...but don't have ps plus. Edit....I got the new tuner by trying to go into HUT. (without ps plus)

Cool, thanks for the impressions. It sure sounds like they fixed the clusterintercourse that was the last patch which killed the game. Can't wait to try it out myself.

it should update automatically. If you go to settings and check is the tuner, it should now say V1.00, V1.01, and Latest. Latest is todays.

Do what Vikes1 did and I think thats how I got as I save pucks for my friend and that gameplay update notice happened and then check in your sliders for v100 , v101 and latest to confirm .

New tuner is promising, I only played one game.. like some have said, hits are much better now and not a hit fest, seems the CPU will only go after the hit when it makes sense. CPU team had 6 PP's to none for me. (default AS/hardcore with penalty sliders turned to max).

Game is back to feeling more organic/loose. If you have the slider for the AI to set your strategies, the bug is still there that keeps it on the screen and you can't poke check or anything until there is a stoppage and it goes away.

My players still seem to do this spin-o-rama at times and I'm not sure what I'm doing to trigger that, it never happens when I play the last gen version. It stinks because it usually causes me to lose the puck.

I was out shot big time, which is a good thing I guess. They really need to patch the defensive AI, if I select a player and go after the puck carrier, the AI player should find the guy parked in front of my net and defend against that cross crease pass for a one timer.

Definitely a step in the right direction overall, but I need to play more games.
