NBA Live 15 News Post

EA Sports has posted another NBA Live 15 video today showing off the defensive improvements in the game. They also posted some additional details a new blog. It doesn't appear as though many changes were made at all to the defensive adjustments at first glance, I'd have to pull up NBA Live 14 to be sure, but the video does show improvement.

UPDATE: All of the defensive adjustments are the same as NBA Live 14, I just pulled it up to be sure. With that said, you can see some improvements from the defense in the video, just wished they would have showed some real 5 on 5 gameplay.

If you missed the offensive improvements video, you can view it here.

Watch the video, read the blog and post your thoughts.

There's always one

I wonder if you'll finally be able to replicate MIA's trapping defense...especially now that passing lane play has been improved...

A lot of those blocks from 15 looked bad

As someone who played live 14 entirely too much I can say this is a huge improvement. On ball d was hit or miss and if you didn't get a contCt layup animation than it was almost a guaranteed 2 point for the offense. Like the pick and roll hedge collision by jones. Kyries dribbling looked a lot smoother. Happy to see defensive adjustments back and that they focused on defense which lets me know they are trying to be a sim game.if they could just get the amount of depth in set play calling and something like 2k smart play they coul really match 2k in gameplay. Only thing I didn't like was the blok on Howard from Davis looked a little sus. All in all very happy with the improvements

Hard hedge is when you show and stay. You don't trap but you stay with the ball handler longer than normal to give the on ball defender extra time to recover. You would use this against a really good shooter that way no matter how well the screen is set there is someone there to get a hand in his face.

If you do this you have to make sure your help defense is adjusted because if they aren't the roll man will kill you.

Don't credit this as a big feature Live should try to emulate when there's already too many inconsistencies in 2K smart play to the point it doesn't even work once you pass half-court. This exact same issue was in 2K14 and didn't get fixed. The quick play button Live is implementing should be just fine.

Have to see how well the CPU uses all these strategies. I'm almost sure I read somewhere (a preview?) that AI defense isn't that great. Looking forward to seeing videos when someone has the game.

Hard to make much of this. EA has a way to create trailers that make animations look ok. Until you see how the game actually plays...

Hopefully that's not the case here.

Have to admit on paper these things sounds great to be honest, but what is the reality????? Is it how it seems???
I hope it is, but my hopes alone cant accomplish it
EA, the ball is in your court right now to show your hand
Like eminem on 8 mile soundtrack...

This is more of what we should have been seeing in these weeks instead of bogus screenshots.

Liking the new defensive animations I saw in there. There is potential here for sure. Just need to see it really in action, no more trailers.

I know what you mean by that but in both the offensive and defensive improvement trailers; they compared 15's movements and animations to 14's after in the same clip!

So I'm sure it will replicate what we've seen. But the only question is, will the animations have that look smooth consistently from a broadcast view??

I hate they use cutaways and somewhat of a highlight cam....I just wish they would just show how it would actually "naturally" playout during the game....that really bugs me

I'll say that the concept of what they say they are trying to build sounds great. I bought into it hard last year, but the game came out looking like they bit off more than they can chew. Until I see these improvements in action I won't believe it.

Thank fully I have EA Access so I will be able to test it out next week!

That's a good question. Would love it to be a good game. When I get a next-gen system, I wouldn't mind to have a decent NBA Live in my collection at all.

An Ultimate Team crews mode would be legit but I'm way far gone with that one! Lol
