Operation Sports News Post

There’s a lot to recap for week 5 with two Operation Sports leagues coming to an end.

If you’d rather get straight to the Week 6 league, click here to join. It’s $5 to play and pays $75 to the winner this week.

The Operation Sports FanDuel Championship came to a close with Ralphief beating out Ertlt and JasonD316 for the title and free next-gen console. His lineup included consistent fantasy studs Alshon Jeffrey and LeVeon Bell as he cruised to a 10-point victory. Ralph has picked the Playstation 4 over the XBox One, so you can chalk up another small victory for Sony.

The main Operation Sports league for Week 5 saw FanDuel vet AJG7479 take down the top prize. His top 4 performers Brian Hoyer, Demarco Murray, Matt Forte, and Demaryius Thomas combined for 108 of his 155.68 points.

Also shoutouts to Ertlt and Operations Sports’ Owner Steve Noah, who finished in 2nd and 3rd place less than 1 point behind AJG!

Here’s AJG’s full lineup:

Congratulations to all the week 5 winners.

Good luck in week 6! Here’s the link to join.

I had no idea these were two separate leagues over there. Will there still be two going forward? If so I'll keep playing in both.

The separate league was only for week 1-4 winners, to get the system. I was lucky enough to come out of that with the ps4, only up by like 10 with Keenan Allen and Seahawks D still to go, haha.

(P.S. Don't chalk up a victory for Sony, I already bought an Xbox One. :P)

Still have roughly 30 minutes to get in on this!

3rd place finish! Even with Andrew Hawkins laying a goose egg. I'll take it.

Is week 7 up. Can't seem to find it

I don't know if they'll do it...week 7 was a loss for FD

I really hope we get a week 7 league...I've had so much fun with this. Also, I'm a bit intimidated by all of the other leagues so its nice having one limited to 100.

There are other small leagues but they might not have the same payout

There are some that do. I'm really starting to like FD, from the monstrous to the little/$1 leagues. Don't know how I feel about 50/50 but plenty of nice options for however you want to get immersed.

**quotable ad time**

Thank you, Operation Sports for introducing me to FanDuel

Does 50/50 just involve a head to head match vs. whoever started the league?

No, 50/50 refers to the pay out. Half of the people entered receive the same set amount and the bottom half receive nothing.

To be honest, I haven't wrapped my head around the strategy with that one. If you're going to hop in a league with a bunch of people, why not get in one with escalating payouts? Maybe bc those leagues pay out the top 20% or so vs 50%... I don't know.

50/50 is supposed to be easier because you only have to be in the top half to win which doesn't seem hard on paper. But after winning $25 in the first Operation Sports Tournament I entered I got all cocky and entered 8 50/50's at $5 each. Got slaughtered lol. Only had 1 team finish in the top 50%. So yaaaaa.....not so easy. But I agree, this FanDuel Daily Fantasy is fun.

I wish I knew there was an app. I tried to find one and nothing. Android?

BTW, my username on FD is wwharton if anyone ever wants to do a head to head (someone mentioned it earlier... sorry I can't remember who it was).

Week 7 is up. (www.fanduel.com/operationsports)

@wwharton on 50/50s - If you build solid lineups consistently, you can grind out a long-term profit in 50/50s. Since it doesn't matter if you beat all of your opponents or only half of them, it's smart to make "safe" picks and save the boom/bust picks for tournaments.

@Aggies: head to head on the app is coming soon! The dev team is working on it.

Thanks!

What's the percentage breakdown for the tournaments? I've been trying to figure out the difference there from 50/50. Specifically, what's the percentage in tournaments that get paid "something".

We've tested different structures, but the top 15-20% usually win cash in tournaments. It's about 19% in the league I make for you guys.

I use the iPhone app works great. When they get head to head up I'll set one up for us.

Awesome. Great customer service. Ask on OS and get answer from FanDuel. Love it. Thanks.

And thanks for putting up Week 7. Got in (5) $2 games since I didn't know this was coming. Used FanDuel before but much more enjoying competing against folks you communicate with daily.
