NBA 2K15 News Post

Whenever the NBA 2K series is mentioned, the servers are without question, high on the hit list for complaints. In NBA 2K14, problems were still happening well into December last year.

Rob Jones, senior producer for NBA 2K15, mentioned in an interview with Polygon, that they put two of their top dogs on the network infrastructure.

Quote:
According to Jones, two of Visual Concepts' top engineers spent the entire NBA 2K15 development cycle working on network infrastructure. The studio rewrote the game's matchmaking logic as well as the way it delivers content to players. The developers also compartmentalized the various modes, so if connectivity for, say, MyTeam goes down, the problem hopefully won't prevent people from playing MyCareer. On the back end, NBA 2K15 will alert Visual Concepts' support staff as soon as a problem crops up. And it will give players error codes, so they'll be able to look up specific issues online.

Hopefully the servers hold up a lot better this year. We will find out on October 7th, when NBA 2K15 releases for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC.

if what they are saying is true and the servers is stable enough then this will be the best basketball game for me!

and this looks to be the reason for all of the community acquisitions and presumed impovements... focused compartmentalization is so damn effective.

Honestly I would have been more assured if they got two top engineers from another company

Hopefully this means Australians have an actual chance at playing online this year. Sounds great.

I'm not a "my career" or "my gm" type of player. I play/battle online.....this is news FOR ME !

Great to hear this hopefully online finally gets the upgrade it needs.

I'll believe it when I see it. The online infrastructure has been shaky since NBA 2K9. I remember much of the online modes were unplayable for weeks in that game. It's a whole lot better today, but it's not saying much either.

I will believe when I test online quick match and online league.

Didn't they say that they revamped online code for 2K12? And that this was the reason why servers were constantly down? The same, that they improved server infrastructure, polished network code, made servers more reliable..., was said for 2k13 and for 2k14. And we know the result...

So let's see how much are their words worth for 2k15...

If this works I applaud the 2k team, this has been long overdue, no more ruined streaks in my park, maybe private team up will work too, thanks for showing some love to the online players.

Will 2 players be able to change their settings at the same time during an online match ? Like will this happen at some point this century ?

No lobbies in NBA 2K15, unfortunately, and it sounds like they're never coming. Jones told me that Visual Concepts believes online games — and the industry at large — have simply moved away from the lobby system.

All talk until the stress test during release week. In show me mode at this point; won't be fooled again. ..
