NBA 2K15 News Post

Chris_Smoove has released another NBA 2K15 video. This one showcases MyCAREER mentors.

Ronnie mentioned that mentors can be traded or leave via free agency. Every team will have a mentor, and according to LD2K, some of them will have more than one.

If Harden is the only mentor for the Rockets, I'm curios to know what would happen. Who would replace him as a mentor, if he leaves. Also odd to see Trevor Ariza behind Smoove and Harden, twice.

Apparently, Houston Rockets have two Trevor Arizas on their team.

going to be fun to find out which NBA player is the worst actor. Harden currently in the lead

Anyway, hopefully these scenes are somewhat dynamic based on your play. I hope I'm not being forced into a bad shooting night to get that first exchange. We'll have to see

Harden talking about defense? Otherwise very cool.

yeah i wish the story line didnt affect our gameplay or my team gameplay, not sure if they changed that this year or not. I also not a fan of everybody having pretty much the exact same storyline, only thing we can change is certain lines..smh

This is one thing I wish they'd talk about. Having a storyline to go along with your play can be fun, but being forced/punished during actual games was one of the worst parts of last year's MC mode.

The no custom rosters thing in MyCareer is such a bummer. If 2k actually attempted to get rosters accurate it terms of how players actually play, it'd be fine. But they dont. So when I pop the trunk on 2k15's rosters and Deron Williams shoots 99% of the time, Kyle Korver wont pull the trigger for 3's, or Louis Williams shoots in the 50% from 3, while Lebron shoots 26% (this happened during 3 different seasons) that's it? Nothing anyone can do? The mode is so restrictive that you cant bring in rosters that are edited. That's a little alarming. Im still buying tho but... ehh.

Where did it say there were no custom rosters? I must have missed this.

Wait a second, I just realized something.

On the off-chance that one of these mentors (that is, NBA players that did voice-over work for the game) gets traded away or something mid-season, then you'd have a strong chance of being on a team that had NO mentors on it.

Would the cutscene then change to be like PS4 2K14, where a random player "talks" to you silently, with subtitles, and you respond with your MyPlayer voice?

Or would there just be no mentor scenes at all?

Granted, this is a pretty unlikely scenario your first year, but it IS possible.

A cool *** concept. I know people will say this may be a waste or that the players acting sucks and after the 20th time it'll get boring but it's progress! I 100% prefer that 2k is trying out new things than leaving stuff untouched and not bothering with it since they don't wanna try something different, very cool!

2 things, Harden doesn't play defense, and Harden doesn't do mentoring. You're a support player who's there to help Harden and D12 legacy. So unless there's a scene where he tells you to eat at the table with other 9 guys, color me disinterested.

I'd be interested in seeing who the mentors are for each team

This would be so cool if it was in a football game also... I know that other Dev would have never gotten this far never.

Definitely looks and sounds better with Chris smoove than it did wit ronnie2k lol

This is probably just a first season thing. Trades in the first season, where we're dropped in in January, will most likely be disabled. Im interested in seeing where all this goes a couple of years into our careers.

2k is trying to pack their game like one super value to spak the likes of ea,for starting the exclusive licensing war, imagine this type of effort from visual concepts in an ncaa basketball & ncaa football,nhl,mlb,nfl2k, just full catalog like we used to have before

Lmao Smoove ain't afraid to speak the truth. "Harden talkin about playing defense?! Wait, is this a fake video??" Ah man Chris you are hilarious

Besides Harden sounding like a monotone jackass, this is way better than last years awkward stares and subtitles.

Man I just wish they had a voice director that wasn't afraid of these NBA players and have them do multiple takes. No joke but he sounds like he's one of those shy kids who gets picked in class to read the next section. They (2k) should've just explained the scenario (defense/ball hogging/offense/etc) and have the player answer their own way, so it sounds more natural. Plus it wouldn't come from a writer who thinks "this is what an NBA player would say"

The voice director (if any) should have just told them "CUT! Cut. cut. Cut! I know you're not actors, but that was horrible. Let's take it from the top, and show some enthusiasm."

Still, better than text and awkward stares. Can't wait to see other players who are mentors lol
