NBA 2K15 News Post

According to the PlayStation.Blog, it doesn’t look like we will see an NBA 2K15 demo this week. Demos typically release 2 weeks before the game releases to stores, which means we probably won't see one this year, for the second year in a row.

We have reached out to 2K for confirmation and will update this post when we hear back.

UPDATE: Just received confirmation, there will be no NBA 2K15 demo this year.

2K15 no demo = that's okay; not needed
"Other" NBA game no demo = they must be hiding something; they're scared

Just saying.

I said it in another thread but I'll say it here also I think allot of devs are gonna slowly stop worth the demos. From what I've read and heard demos are somewhat a pain to make and it takes time away from tweaks and fixes they could be doing during development and an alpha or beta build glitch that probably wouldn't bee in the final version can turn ppl off and or become a thing on YouTube etc. Me personally even though I don't necessarily agree on price and or timed early access it seems like a smarter business move and I would def pay some money to play 2k early

Not releasing the demo shows the lack of confidence in the game. They want to maximize the amount of money made as much as possible. It is no difference than company that don't want to see the official reviews of their game (see Destiny lol) before the released date fearing that people that pre-ordered the games could cancel it after reading the reviews and as a result the company can lose huge amount of money. It's all marketing strategy. But you know what....it didn't matter...i'll buy the physical copy...and if i don't like it...i'll sell it. That's why i don't go digital with games like NBA2k because it ain't no GTA V or The Last Of Us where i can confidently go digital without a problem.

It's true that 2k will sell whether there is demo or not. You know why?? It's because it's the only freaking basketball game out there lol. There is no other game to buy if you want to play basketball (assuming Live never exist lol). It isn't like there are 10 different companies out there making basketball games. Also it sells because it was the next gen debut last year...so people forgive the gameplay (which is glitch y as hell) in favor of the graphics. NBA2k15 (from the look of it) should have been what NBA2k14 should be. NBA2k14 was a rush product.

I didn't see the "No..." in the beginning at first. Heh. Was about to be totally and pleasantly surprised.

^Hell no.

No demo huh, that's weak man. But considering they really have no competition(for better or worse), they don't really have to release one.

The evidence for that is dubious at best.

Anyway, the game's out 3 days late in Europe so unless I VPN it for PC or hope that it gets mailed to me early on PS4 a lot of people will play it before I do so it's not going to be a surprise.

I'd think most people on the fence are pondering whether it's worth buying for the additions they've made to game modes, not gameplay which will probably be mostly the same. Not expecting huge leaps, though I'd at least that online associations are better, automatic playcalling is fixed in MyCareer and that some of the VC/Online check things have been at least scaled back a little.

its 2k they have the credibility and sales to do this .I don't blame them

Could have at least released a demo for PC so people could see how their system's deal with the new engine.

Madden didn't have a demo; but they did have EA Access! So you were still able to play the game as a demo, before launch! As for 2K; there is no excuse on why they could not put out a demo, as they had demo's for games at E3, Gamescon, and that Expo down in Mexico last week!

My decision to buy or not will come down to the improvement or lack thereof to MyPlayer.
You know how long that will take since they wanna make a movie out of it now

I don't agree with the notion that not having a demo doesn't take away from potential customers. I think a good demo helps you more than a bad demo hurts you. We can all think of amazing demos like for Metal Gear Solid, Dead Rising, or heck even NBA 2K7. Now, I do think there are perhaps diminishing returns on demos for sports games as a console cycle continues, but early in a new cycle I think they're more important than not.

That being said, I do agree that avoiding a demo on a shortened cycle for these teams this year makes sense -- assuming that's the reasoning.

Now look at 2k with no comp. Last great 2k game was 2k12 argueably maybe 2k11. Also to be pointed out that was the last time they dropped a demo correct?

I'm reconsidering not preordering tbh.

Was truly hoping for a demo. Some of the things that bother me can only be felt. I guess best case scenario is wait for it used on Craigslist, or for some impressions from the guys that have the same issues that I have.

Worst part, is I had been told recently to wait for the demo, and judge for myself to see how much of the things were fixed, and how much remained.

You can rent it for like $2 a day from red box.

For what it's worth, I could. But I'd rather not spend anything. Unfortunately, even the closest Redbox to us is quite a drive. If a demo were available, I could check it out, either preorder or pick up day 1.

As it is, I'll wait it out. The San Antonio vs Heat footage showed some improvement, even though it's obviously on a easier difficulty. I'll wait to see some hands on footage.

But you said best case scenario is buying it on craigslist which is still spending something.

I get it, I don't rent games either because coverage here is enough for me on games but it's not at all fair to say they only way you can play a game if there is no demo is to buy it.

If redbox is too far there is gamefly. There are many options if you want to play it before buying it. I'm sure there will even be kiosks at Best Buys with the game once it's out if you don't want to pay anything.

2k Demos as we all know are usually pretty stripped down...would a demo from them really give you that feeling you need? Has it with past demos from them? Curious

2k doesn't have to release a demo. Live does. Demos are great to have but they take away from development time for the retail version. If you're a company trying to win back market share, then a demo is more appropriate. PES was in this position and their demo has caught people's attention. This is what Live has to do, so I'm not surprised 2k decided to not to release a demo.
