WWE 2K15: Full Hands-On Impressions

WWE 2K15 is making it's way to the new generation of consoles this fall and with it there are a number of changes coming to the franchise. I recently got a chance to see a full presentation by gameplay producer Mark Little who highlighted a number of changes. The Visual Concepts team is now essentially the lead developer for the game with assistance from long time developer Yukes. With that, you can feel the 2K influence in the game right away.

That was the last WWE game that I enjoyed. This will be the first I've bought in about 6 years and I'm looking forward to it. Looks like they are getting it right.

Anyone know if you can break move animations like you could on the Gamecube wrestling games? For example, if a character is doing a move on my partner in a match, does my character have to stand there until its over, or can I hit my opponent and stop the move?.........sorry if this sounds confusing

That's been in since WWE '12. I assume it will still be possible in WWE 2K15.

Thanks. I had no idea. I haven't played a WWE game since 2009. I always thought the Gamecube games were the funnest.

that stamina meter means i may actually play online matches. people cant just keep kicking you into the ground. thats a great addition to the game.

Well, you can still watch him wrestle. Just not in the WWE. He's in NJPW if you're really interested in seeing him.

I miss playing with him online. He was my go-to wrestler for online matches.

I Really Hoping commentary is geared more towards Universe and MyCareer mode

You guys don't know how bad I hate hearing the current commentary when I'm playing Universe I usually make my own Commentary

I hope they have Cole and Lawler following what's going on in Universe and MyCareer

Glad to hear about True Weight Detection

I loved everything I read very Excited for this game

Me too. Hearing the commentators talk about milestones/events in your career would be great. NBA 2K does a decent job of that, but I hope WWE 2K takes it a couple of step further. Make it more in-depth and not just a passing reference to them. It helps add to the immersion (gaming buzzword) in sports game career modes, but especially in a professional wrestling game.

Having Commentators turn on your player and them talk bad about you if your a Heel would be amazing

Nice write-up, Scott! This game and NBA 2K15 have me itching to get a PS4. Showed my wife the screenshots on this page and she was blown away at the level of detail.

Hes currently in New Japan if you want to see him wrestle. He had a decent outing in this years G-1 Tournament

In the gamescom footage the pin meter was still used. What would you rather have? I ask people all the time because personally I like the meter because at least I have control over kicking out or not. Button mashing for me at least, feels like the control was taken out of my hands and it was a matter of waiting to see if you kicked out or not. Hopefully they have refined the meter and I've heard that the resiliency skill is gone so that should help things.
