NBA Live 15 News Post

The guys at NLSC posted a podcast with Sean O'Brien. In the Podcast, O'Brien talks about last year's game and what you should expect out of this year's game. The entire podcast is a whale of a listen, just over two hours. Here are some nuggets you'll find inside:
  • Podcast with Jalen Rose has been updated. O'Brien mentions Grantland podcasts in particular for the style he wants.
  • Dynasty Mode has received fixes this year.
  • An Auction House is now present in Ultimate Team mode.
  • Live 15 won't feature much in terms of customization, was mentioned that's a Live 16 plan.
  • Focus is on making the gameplay better. O'Brien says he believes customers will be more forgiving if the game at least plays good.
  • No Legends will be in the game outside of Ultimate Team.
  • No FIBA or D-League teams, no plans for a PC version either.
  • Visual feedback on each shot will be presented to you this year.
  • Right stick passing (Live 10 system) is in the game.
  • More than 400 new dunk animations.
Be sure to give the podcast a listen and let us know what you hear!

How the hell do they not have the technology to allow sliders and saves? what kind of statement is that? what year is this?

If we're talking a $60 purchase, you cant give me zero options, or next to zero options. Unless you're going to give me rosters that are perfect and fits everyone's taste (you cant which is fine) then that option needs to be in the game.

They said they don't have the technology...

Unless I misheard Sean or misunderstood him, he said they didn't have the tools, technology in place to get to it or they simply decided it wasn't a huge enough priority for the game this year. If I remember correctly in EGM interview he said that their file save system was broken and was something they had to fix as well going into Live 14 if I'm not mistaken. They are trying to fix cracks in the foundation of Live 13 which decided it wasn't go off of Elite 11 for whatever reason. As bad as Elite 11's animations and glitches were, if they decided to build from there and fix the issues with the game, I think Live 14 and Live 15 would of been much further in the basketball genre. But typical EA bad decisions from the past has made it a tough road for this new team.

I was/am(Kinda) now rooting for live but it just feels like last year all over again

We have seen footage of WWE 2K15 , NBA 2K15 , Madden 15 , Fifa 15 , NHL 15 , Golf Club

NBA Live is the only sports game to NOT show any kind of footage whether it's a trailer or in game footage

don't care much for the footage, however, I am SHOCKED the cover guy hasn't been announced yet.

i wonder how complicated the technology is? didn't think it would be that hard for sliders and saves. it's weird because madden is made at tiburon and they have it.

You don't care about the footage?? WHAAAAAATT

I do agree about the cover athlete tho like little things like that should've been announced Unless it was Paul George but That's why it's always good to have a backup plan

a lot of people don't realize EA still has other game to Push. Madden Fifa & NHL.... Live usually get sideline till September. I'm not really expecting any Footage tell September. 2k only has WWE & NBA 2K.... So they got more freedom to show off there game earlier.....Patient's Everyone...

No technology for sliders? Are we talking about Live 2015 current gen or lakers vs celtics 1990 sega genesis? I guess I can understand not having sliders but given the reason.....wow. $60.00 for what? I thought the price we pay was due to the technology, not for the lack of.

Some good info there. I personally like that the size up dribble from Live 10 is back.

But disappointing in others areas obviously. Kind of feels like it will be Live 14.5 but it is what it is.

I think I'll still grab it but probably only for exhibition games and unless impressions about game play are really good, not until it's discounted some.

With NBA 2K advancing as much as they have over the past few years, I don't ever see myself buying live again. It's too bad because Live '03-05 were my jam.

With this news I'll be skipping this years version. I'll play the demo or free trial or whatever just to see the improvements but EA won't get my money. I will say I'm glad that they're not trying to blow smoke about the game and fool customers into buying a half baked product. At least they're honest about the game and their plans.

Very sad to hear No Editing Options. HOPING Live is still around in for Next Year release, since editing was mentioned with it. Just makes NO Sense. Hope Live 15 sells well, so Editing options will be back for Live 16.

Thanks Haval93 for the summary, much appreciated.

So Sean gives a shout out to WTF for having a pic with Lebron in a Cavs uniform with his number 23 which I remember his saying it was a tedious thing to do but then LIVE 15 isn't going to have customization option again? Because "technology isn't there"? I believe Fernando (who works on Live's rosters) said when asked about customized rosters being in Live 15 that there were no plans to have those, so not being in their plans is the same as not having the technology to do so? That's a bad excuse and if it wasn't one then they haven't listened to a vocal part of the community who have asked for it since they knew 14 didn't have it.

With all Live's ommisions (no customization nor sliders, no in-game injuries, no improvements in game modes, no EASBA) this doesn't simply have to have good gameplay, it has to be great gameplaywise because to have simply a good game there's already a good to great game (depending to who you ask) which already has a complete package.

Jon was the one who brought up the member of OS(WTF) who went through the tedious process of trading Lebron until he reached number 23 on the Cavs. As everybody keeps talking about rosters, sliders, and other stuff, he addresses this question starting at 29:30 minute mark. From there, he talks about what I quoted.

Oh thanks, I stand corrected but my point still's the same, we should be having options in this times of sports gaming.

after listening to this podcast its sounding like the game to "look forward to" is live16. seems like they are with holding a lot and focusing purely on gameplay in live15. i do want to see how the demo is though

No doubt, I agree . These are options we should have by now. Hopefully all these sacrifices for game play really pay off in Live 15 because if game play is not solid, then it will be another sad year and possibly the end of the series. I doubt EA want scores of 4 and 5s like last year.
