Check out the latest video from The Golf Club. This one explains how to use the turn-based multiplayer rules during the game. An official release date for consoles should be revealed soon.
They need to mo cap a few high level amateurs to put this game over the top. Every shot not just full shots.
Dayum... that's a brilliant suggestion! It would definitely give the game some personality and amateurs work gratis! I know they won't have time to get that done prior to release, but that would make for a great, premium add-on, IMO. It's not something one would have to have to play the game, but something that would broaden the possibilities for sure.
The fact that you can turn it on and off intrigues me. If I am coming down the stretch in a tournament or tour event, I'll turn it on for that added drama. On my first few rounds? Own pace for sure. This will also make par 3 rounds fun too.
(I mean, i guess you could have had them before...but not with the added pressure of having to watch every shot your opponent hits. Those nerves start to set in after realizing that he/she put their approach to 3 or 4 feet while you still have 185 yards to the stick)

This mode looks fantastic! Can't wait for this game to be part of my rotation for years to come.
I just hope the load times aren't too bad when playing multiplayer.
Being able to play courses via cross-platform is ground breaking. Incredible for this indie game to be pulling it off.
I am very excited about this game but I do agree the golfer and swing really are so brutal they distract from the amazing courses. It is just surprising given how solid the rest of the game appears. The golfer appears to need a chiropractor badly.
I find I rarely pay attention to the golf as I'm trying my best to hit a straight shot - i actually look at the controller for the most part to keep my accuracy. When playing multiplayer it's more noticeable as you tend to watch the animation when the other player is shooting. I'm sure there's room for improvement but it's not a deal breaker to me.
Would like to add that if you're playing against a friend's ghost you can make that turn-based as well. And it can be toggled mid-round, just like with human players.
