NBA 2K15 to Feature Voice Acting From Many NBA Players in MyCAREER Mode

While NBA 2K14 featured the voice of LeBron James, all of the other voices came from voice acting talent. NBA 2K15 will change that, as it will feature many more real NBA player voices with full scripts and roles to play in MyCAREER.

2K Sports has been tweeting many pictures from various NBA players in their studios, including the cover athlete himself Kevin Durant. Other confirmed players include Thaddeus Young, Al Jefferson, Gerald Wallace, Andre Drummond, Channing Frye, Brandon Knight, Al Horford, Trey Burke, Brook Lopez, Andre Iguodala, Udonis Haslem and Paul George.

Expect many more to be revealed soon, possibly in the 2K Sports livestream today at 3:00pm - 5:00pm PDT.

UPDATE: Nothing new was revealed in the 2K stream.

I'm really concerned especially because it feels like they've jumped down this fantasy, scripted "role-playing" rabbit hole, but I don't want to completely give up hope on what has been a quality, stellar title in the past. Just hoping they find a happy medium that can cater to the more sim based crowd and this fantasy/"role playing" niche they've found with MyCareer.

Funny because just a decade ago some were interested in having these sort of elements in 2K, in particular with the old Sony NBA series having these scripted elements. Again, just hoping they find a very good balance.

So I guess we're all going to be having the same careers again...I'll take text based with options over voice acting and one direction any day of the week.

Really? Voice acting? 2K/VC release some info for their next game and it's about voice acting?

What about the existing issues, real issues? Do I really need to list them? I can't believe I'm saying this but if Live is decent enough I might actually buy it. I didn't buy 2K14 which is unusual considering I've bought every game since 2K6, because of the lack of modes and issues mentioned by other gamers.

Would love to see a company like HB Studios give it a Crack. And I hope EA Sports gives 2K a real run for their money!

90% of the comments dislike this lol, do 2k even listen to the fans. Who asked for this in the first place? someone inside 2k most likely.

All I see is these voices are going to take up a lot of space and eventually they will have to salvage it or some other feature/extra just like last gen where they kept taking stuff out. Work on the core because it still needs tuning, this is like sesame seeds on a burger bun it's really not important to the burger.

Can we get just one extra damn MyPlayer voice if they are going to all the trouble of adding a bunch of NBA Players this year is it that hard to give us an extra voice for our player. Its pretty dull having the same guy from 2K11 as the only voice especially now they are headed down this scripted storyline road.

Just got another idea...

Think about TNT/ESPN when during the game they sometimes show player interviews from earlier or whenever...

I'm HOPING that's ALREADY in if they're doing this voice acting stuff. Who knows. But that would be cool to see. Would skip it sometimes, lol but I'm all for better presentation.

Halftime show and weekly wrap ups in franchise mode is all I ask. Imagine in MyCareer you could get dreadful VC for making the top 10 plays of the week. No reason they shouldn't have space for that.

What the? I don't want to be apart of some storyline, this is the NBA not WWE.

But even so then if you really wanted a decent storyline based mode then MIME players would have been the right direction to head in because of flexibility. Anybody here played SmackDown! Here Comes The Pain? Not a single voiceover yet it was probably the best career mode (based around storylines) yet and that's because the outcomes were near unlimited.

Also I don't understand something, after reading this entire thread the opinion is ALMOST unanimously against this entire concept. Who the hell are 2K listening to? Obviously it isn't anybody on these forums.

so let me guess, we can only be drafted by teams with one of these players? so we can fit into their predetermined scripts.

please give control back to the players. all this work and improvements to a mode that I will never make it past year one because 2k refuses to add sliders to MyCareer. thats ALL I want. sure I have other wishes for improvements, but would gladly trade them all in for custom sliders. please God, let this be the year they are added....

We aren't their target demographic anymore. A 10-year-old kid's parent's $60 is just as good as our $60. But there's a lot more 10-year-old kids who buy the game.

I wouldn't say people are unanimously against it. I, like many others here, would welcome the feature if implemented well in a realistic manner, and not like a series of guest appearances on the cheesy MyCareer B-movie starring your player

This is typical 2K behavior. They are trying to get people excited with random non-important features. And even the real and so called important information they'll release in September or November won't be anything special. It's the same routine every year. They never deliver.

Exactly, I'm sure this will happen. I don't get why some people don't see this? No way you are going to be able to use Iggy's voice or Geralds.

They will script a whole story again, they probably use 1 guy from every team and have him become your friend on the team who will guide you through.

Your MyPlayer will still have a horrible lame sounding voice.
