NBA Live 15 News Post

EA Sports has posted a Q&A with NBA Live 15 Executive Producer, Sean O’Brien. The team asked for questions via Twitter and the team selected the top questions.

Below are some of the bullet points, but read the entire Q&A here.
  • We scanned about 70 percent of the league, and plan on getting the rookies during NBA Summer League. Once the season starts up again in the fall, we will start scanning the remaining players we didn’t get during the 2013-14 NBA season. Our plan is to then create the heads and use our NBA LIVE content system to update the game with the additional scanned heads throughout the season.
  • The Gameplay – We’ve heard all of the feedback from last year, so we are improving the overall responsiveness and control, especially when dribbling, adding higher quality animations as well as re-working the game flow to make the action on the court organic and seamless.
  • Body types have been completely redone.
  • Expect a completely different gameplay experience with great control and a much improved foundation that makes for a better experience lending itself to a much better flow when you’re playing the game.

I love how they are taking a community-based approach and are listening to us as consumers. I have my faith in EA.

Hope it's great. I really do. Looking forward to seeing more of it.

Hopefully we keep getting a steady stream of Live 15 info throughout the summer/fall. They need to do this for Live 15.

We cant have this interview today and hear/see anything until mid september.

We need pics, vids, info all summer long!

It says that they'll release a schedule of what is forthcoming including videos fellas. No need to worry.

It just hit me, but if EA wants to have any success in the basketball game genre, one of the best/immediate fixes that would improve the game's sales would be to make an NCAA version. That game would sell because it wouldn't directly compete with 2k. It is going to be a massive struggle to compete directly with 2k unless the game turns out to be stellar which is unlikely

# 26 WTF @ 06/17/14 11:45 AM
2k has NOTHING to do with this thread. Keep it out of here.

Not saying that there's to worry but last year they said there would be news about Live 14 and we barely got anything, there's a reason to be somewhat skeptical or concerned.

# 28 WTF @ 06/17/14 12:30 PM
But not at this point. If they don't deliver or adhere to the schedule, then possibly. Until then, at least we're getting information in June. That almost never happens.

These guys have stayed committed, listened to our feedback and look like graphically they have stepped it up BIG time. I'm pumped for 15, I enjoyed 14 throughly even though the graphics lacked. It was fun, easy to pick up and the players weren't glued to the floor. I'm so pumped to see more screens and some video. I'm actually glad last years debacle is over with, now we can expect to see REAL gameplay, not just rendered stuff. Keep it up guys! #nothingbutnext #startedfromthebottom

While I agree that Live 15 should and will be the game to set the series back on track, it is extremely difficult to believe the game will fulfill all that is promised. I give credit to the Live team for their commitment to working with the community however listening to fans, addressing the issues, and saying the right things is only one part of the equation. Execution is a whole other issue. I truly hope this is the year where their hard work is evident in their product.

When it comes to the Live series, and EA sports games in general, actions speak louder than words. I'm sorry if I sound pessimistic and I will gladly eat my pessimism if the game impresses but I am too familiar with the EA "Say the right thing" attitude to assume everything they say will come to fruition.

Yes. The assertive communication with the community in June is definitely a good sign. Last year I felt like they were really trying to hide their cards until the last possible minute.

I think live is in a better place going Foward. Their game is totally rebuilt for next gen. Player movement etc.. Already feels a step in the right direction .

To be fair, we had a schedule of information last year that went right out the window and they (along with some people here) tried to convince us all that it didn't exist when it magically disappeared from NBA.com.

Great answers to some great questions.....

I must admit EA sports is taking their community serious and Stepping Their Game Up

No online questions? Nothing interesting to me...

It's hard to believe anything they say at this point, as they have become 'the boy who cried wolf' over the past few attempts to make this game. That being said, I'd welcome some competition to 2k, just to keep the developers on their Ps and Qs if nothing else. It's hard for me to imagine that Live can overtake 2k this year given the gap between the two last year, but only time will tell I guess.

Now if Derrick Rose can just stay healthy for 5 minutes, I'll be really excited to finally get my PS4 hoop on this fall.

I wouldn't expect to see any NCAA games any time soon, thanks to Ed O'Bannon and the rest. It's a shame, but I can't blame game developers for avoiding that situation like the plague.

I'd love to know the answer to this question....but i don't think it's a priority to EA because of their belief in the Synergy engine driving simulation gameplay.

Sliders + Player Edits + Ability to create classic teams = a must buy for me next year.

Without those things I'll continue to boycott NBA Live LOL!

Live has never had any issues getting us all aboard the hype train before the game released.

It's everything AFTER the game is released where the issues are. So yeah, everything does sound good so far, but we've also been here before as well.

we only got 8 days left, for some info but it'll probably be delayed

They've already given some Q&A, the face pictures, the behind the scenes videos. That's in June. That's doing pretty well. If we get more in June, great. If not, hopefully we get some steady stuff coming in next month.

We're still several months away from release. Hopefully we'll get something just to tide us over though.
