Richard Sherman Wins Madden NFL 15 Cover Vote

Seahawks Defender Defeats Cam Newton in Finale

The Legion of Boom has earned another accolade, as Seattle Seahawks defensive back Richard Sherman has won the Madden NFL 15 Cover Vote. Sherman faced off against Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton in the finals and was revealed as the winner of the fan-voted cover in a special segment on SportsCenter. The announcement was made on the heels of the release of the first official Madden NFL 15 gameplay video, which features reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Luke Kuechly.

Sherman proved to be just as dominant off the field as he is on it, shutting down his opposition throughout the tournament. After dispatching Chicago Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery in the opening round, he also thwarted New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham and division rival Colin Kaepernick en route to the title. The fans have been especially active in this year's Cover Vote competition, casting approximately 10 million votes over the course of the contest, and averaging nearly 650,000 votes per matchup.

"Richard Sherman is a fantastic cover athlete selection by the fans," said Anthony Stevenson, Vice President of Global Marketing for EA SPORTS. "Defense is a big focus for Madden NFL 15, and Sherman is one of the brightest defensive stars in the NFL. He shares the same energy and passion for the game as our ‘legion' of Madden fans."

Madden NFL 15 allows players to transform into their rival's worst nightmare with a new breed of defense, built to challenge the best offenses in the NFL. A new arsenal of pass rush moves, an intuitive tackling system, improved coverage logic, and immersive new camera angles make defense more exciting and fun than ever. Fans can call plays with confidence thanks to an all-new crowd-sourced recommendation engine built from millions of online games played by the Madden NFL community. Add in all-new broadcast-inspired presentation and it's not just football, it's Madden Season.

Madden NFL 15 is developed in Orlando, Florida by EA Tiburon and will be available on August 26 in North America and on August 29 in the EU for Xbox One, the all-in-one entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system. Somehow tho, he gets enough votes to win the Madden cover. Riiiiight.
You also have to take into account how many Seahawk "fans" there are now that they won the SB. There's also tons of people that love him too. And I'm sure lots of people who hate him voted for him just for the hopes of the 'Madden curse' affecting him.

A lot of us were saying from day one it would be him. I would have been shocked if it wasn't. He's easily one of the top 5 most recognizable players in the NFL and after that Super Bowl run with the antics along the way is, as the kids say, "Internet Hot."

I honestly think he's nowhere near as genuinely disliked as the media portrays. He's actually a really decent dude off the field. This ain't Albert Belle chasing kids down in his SUV. I think the vast majority of 30 or younger NFL fans probably think his on field persona is kinda cool, honestly.

Oh, and I'm sorry, but the "we beat ourselves" mentality that Broncos fans have makes me hate living in Denver. That was a straight up *** kicking. Our starters that day against their starters that day, we lose that game 8 out of 10 times. Period.

After Calvin Johnson's record-breaking 2012 season, I don't understand how people still bandy around this "curse" nonsense.

Well to be fair, have you given credit to any of the artists, license holders or photographers whose work and/or property you've used in that cover? Did you even obtain permission from any of them?

When you post something to the internet, it's going to take on a life of its own. Images get passed between people many times over, so unless you watermark your work, it's unlikely to be attributed to its actual creator.

Look at image macros, memes and joke gifs. Someone made those, but I doubt anyone thinks of crediting their creators before recirculating them as their own. It's just the way the internet works.

And you do realize that is common for athletes? Kobe, LeBron, Sherman, Vick, etc. All these players have just as many people that dislike them as they dedicated fans.

One thing I actually agree with is that they should do a cover vote. In reality sometimes they picked terrible guys to be on the cover and this way its fun to be involved. On another note, as time passes I grow more concerned that this might be almost the entire feature set. Considering how late the dev cycle ran for M25 for XBone/PS4 they could have had a lot less time to add features and things. Even though I would get the lack of time to add more gameplay enhancements this year, I fully expect there to be deeper additions to gameplay modes, mainly CFM, to make up for anything left out. CFM is better than ever but they still are behind 2k after the MyGM mode and revamped myCareer mode this year. If they keep improving the game modes (which is what affects the games replay ability) and they keep the gameplay moving in the right direction with new presentation, the game could quickly regain its status as a top sports game.
