Who says the city of Cleveland never wins anything? For the third time in four years the Cavaliers have nabbed the top pick in the NBA draft lottery.

Ok, so that's nothing to brag about but it does provide hope. For Cavs fans, that hope may simply be for the franchise to find the next LeBron James instead of another Anthony Bennett.

Sound Off: Who should Cleveland take with the top pick in the 2014 NBA Draft?

Trade Varejao, Thompson, and Waiters for Joe Johnson? After already overpaying to keep Deng? No way.

Trade Thompson, Bennett and picks for Arron Afflalo.
Good thing you not a gm.

Hence why I said they're optional :P
Anyway, if they pick Emiid (and he stays healthy), re-sign Deng and Hawes, and hire a formidable coach, they should be Playoff bound without a doubt. I think the most important factor will be the coach. Furthermore, I don't really trust Waiters, Thompson and Bennett enough hence why I threw those trade proposal. I think the Cavs can definitely use someone like Afflalo over Waiters but I just don't see whom other teams would want from the Cavs without them giving up a valuable asset. Also re-signing Varejao to a cheaper contract would be a more feasible option (don't know what I was thinking earlier lol). All in all, with the right coach, and trading for a guy like Afflalo, this team can be pretty good defensively, much like Charlotte this season.

Deng is long long gone. He doesn't fit the roster, he doesn't want to be in Cleveland, and to be honest, I don't think the Cavs want him. He looked beyond old and slow with Cleveland last year. He's gone right past Dwayne Wade as the player who isn't 40 but plays like it.

On fumes was a great way to describe his play with the Cavaliers.

I've always wanted Parker, to the point I wished the Cavs could have used last year's pick on his rights. However, Embiid is the smart pick if his back is healthy. If not, Wiggins is the sexy pick. Either of those two can help make up for Kyrie's defensive deficiencies.

I'd like them to trade Waiters just because he's a volume shooter, and they won't need that. Feel like he's the guy who thrives on being the leading scorer for a losing team.

I'm partial on this because I think Parker is the best player in the draft (not necessarily the best prospect, but he's the most ready, in terms of skillset. Plus, living in ACC & SEC country, I saw a lot more of him than I did of Wiggins & Embiid)

Wiggins has become this hugely sexy media pick because of his athleticism and potential, but if I'm the Cavs, I don't draft on potential right now. They need someone that can make an immediate impact. Guys like Wiggins don't pay off right away. Look at someone like T-Mac. It took him a 4 or 5 years to really reach his full potential. Wiggins is a freak athlete with some good skills, but Parker is the most ready to come in and put up numbers for a team that desperately needs numbers. I predict that where ever he goes, Jabari is going to put up 20+ per game and 6 or 7 rebounds per game, right away. His skillset and body type translate better to the NBA (assuming he'll get his *** in shape before the season)

Embiid, in my opinion, is a strictly upside pick. And again, for a team that better start winning soon, to keep Kyrie, you can't draft upside. You can't be waiting around for a few years on someone to figure it out.

If they don't trade the pick IMO it has to be Wiggins or Embiid.

That's the best option, in my opinion.

The Cavs will do their due diligence on Embiid's medical issues. If they are serious, they will take Wiggins/Parker. If Embiid checks out, they will take him.

If only the Pistons could have won the lottery... Wiggins or Parker would have been great fits at the 3.

Speaking strictly as a Bucks fan which I am, I hope they go with Embiid. That way we can go with Wiggins to team up with last year's 1st Giannis Antetokounmpo, and give us hopefully something to build on for the near future.
