Electronic Arts Inc. and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC®) announced today that Bruce Lee, “The Father of Mixed Martial Arts”, will make his historic first step into the Octagon® in EA SPORTS™ UFC, launching June 17, 2014. Fans can pre-order today to get instant day-one access to Bruce, or they can complete the game’s career mode at Pro difficulty to unlock him. Players can fight with the legend across four different weight classes and test his legacy against the best of the best in the UFC. To see Bruce Lee realized in game, watch the EA SPORTS UFC Gameplay Series: Bruce Lee Reveal, the first cinematic trailer from EA SPORTS UFC that was released today.

“I am so excited about this opportunity to bring my father back to videogames!” said Shannon Lee, Bruce Lee’s daughter, CEO of Bruce Lee, LLC and Chairperson of the Bruce Lee Foundation. “I’m thrilled that fans can now interact with him in a new way. The EA SPORTS UFC development team has been incredible to work with, and they've done a great job capturing the look and feel of my father. I think people will love getting a chance to fulfill a fight fantasy by playing Bruce Lee in the new UFC game.”

“There’s no debate, Bruce Lee is the father of mixed martial arts,” said Dana White, UFC President. “He believed not one style of fighting was the best and that you had to have a little piece of everything to be a complete fighter. He was proven right when the first UFC event took place in 1993.”

“It has always been part of our vision to have Bruce Lee, the most iconic martial artist of all time, in the first ever EA SPORTS UFC,” said Brian Hayes, Creative Director, EA. “The team is very excited and tremendously honored to have the privilege of bringing Bruce Lee to life in our game. We’ve been working closely with the Bruce Lee team to ensure we represent the legend with as much visual and gameplay fidelity as possible.”

Powered by EA SPORTS IGNITE technology, EA SPORTS UFC is built from the ground up exclusively for Gen 4 platforms, EA SPORTS UFC captures the human athleticism, physiology and emotion of the athlete like nothing before it. Step into the Octagon® and Feel the Fight with every strike, takedown and submission.

Why is everything so over the top? I've never seen anyone get knocked out the way EA thinks they do. Geez. Other than that, it looks really good.

If that really want to make some noise, they'll sign Phil Brooks to a video game contract and put him in.

I can't wait. Trailers are supposed to be over the top to hype the subject matter. Even if the game is over the top. It's ok as long as the game is entertaining.

Cat Zingano was there too. I liked it. It was a buy no matter what but I like what I'm seeing.

It's called a promo hype trailer. UFC does it ALL the time. This was one of the worst fights Silva had (in regards of deciding not to dominate), but the promo trailer clearly shown otherwise:

BTW: Dana White was threatening to drop Silva for his performance in that fight, as he clearly took a break against Maia in that fight.

I'd be shocked if he wasn't. I think your wish will come true.

The more I see and read, the more I can't wait for this game. We finally got a release date, finally got a solid gameplay vid, are getting new fighter announcements very frequently, etc etc. I don't even care about a demo at this point to be honest. I mean I would be thrilled to get one, but I will be getting this game no matter what. Let's just hope and pray that the game lives up to its hype and not turn out to be a COMPLETE bust like NBA Live.

Just realized that they said to "complete the career mode". What does that mean exactly? Does that mean there's a fixed storyline, you have to retire, or does it just mean win the belt or something similar? A bit confused about that right now.

The previous EA history has me waiting. No way I buy it without playing it first. Then I still may wait until real player reviews and videos are out.

those sneaky b**tar*s

I have to buy the game even if I don't like it, because I have always been a huge Bruce Lee fan. I know most of the lines in Enter the Dragon off by heart.

More entertaining was Sonny Chiba in The Street Fighter though. Chiba was 6'5" half japanese and half chinese. I bring him up because I made both Bruce, Chiba and Fedor in 2009 undisputed.

I put lee (and fedor) in black underwear style shorts they had, but maybe EA doesn't have those, they went with Game of Death style instead of the beginning of Enter the Dragon scene in terms of style.

He looks great too! but on the other hand, it's a little weird... I get it, but maybe they could have made an over-the-top game using the same general engine and have Martial Arts Legends in it like Lee, Jet Li, Tony Jaa, Norris, Van Damme, Phillip Rhee, Tong Po (lol), Dennis Alexio, Paco, Brandon Lee, Sonny Chiba, Steven Segal and so on.

I can careless about Bruce Lee......I don't see the point of him being in the game, but hey he is DLC, so it lessens the sting some what of seeing him in the game. I mean if EA want to get FACTUAL, Ip Man was the grandfather of MMA because he was the one who combined all the styles and he was the one who taught Bruce Lee, but what ever.

If EA wants to go that route, then they should have Helio Gracie and Masahiko Kimura in the game then.

I can just imagine it now, Bruce Lee will be the most used fighter online.
