NASCAR '14 News Post

After releasing NASCAR '14 patch details about a month ago, the team has gone into the final testing phase and added some more details.

Quote:
UPDATE: Thank you to all who have contacted us regarding the NASCAR ’14 patch, we have an update and will be keeping you regularly up-to-date with progress from this point onwards.

Our social teams have spent the last few weeks gathering feedback from multiple platforms about NASCAR ’14. Our dev team have worked very hard to address all the issues raised by customers. We will still be contacting some individually about one or two issues all others have been found, fixed and will be included in the upcoming patch.

As well as those already identified we can confirm the planned patch will include fixes for:

• The Joey Logano challenge
• Issue with pitting from turns 3 & 4 at Richmond
• Writing last name on windshields
• Using various wheels with custom paint schemes
• Force feedback from some wheels experienced by some players

The patch has moved into final testing, including some community beta testing of the new format chase and qualifying formats, and we will be making a submission soon. We’ll keep you updated with progress and dates at regular intervals. For those who have experienced issues we apologise and thank you for your patience and continued feedback.

This game has so much potential. Hopefully they remedy the crazy AI drivers and the way they railroad you every chance they get.

If not, this one is going back to Gamestop.

It's amazing that the first patch actually made the AI worse. It's really an unplayable game on single player because the AI is so bad. It is completely oblivious to the human player, and you'll see a pack of 4-5 wide cars stay tightly packed for 10 laps. Plus, you can't even get a successful restart without turning on the traction control. I agree, the game has a TON of potential, but it has serious issues.

I waiting for the patch before trying single player mode. Hopefully they get it right for once. That's ok I got The Show to keep me busy.

On restarts..wait to hit the gas until the screen reads 'Go'..you'll have some success then.

Exactly! It's all about timing.

Thanks for that tip, guys. I was holding it around 1/4 throttle (which, of course is the intuitive thing to do given that the restarts begin with the throttle down).

Good to know that is the solution, as arcadey as it may be. They still have to fix the horrendous railroading 4 or 5-wide AI though. It's comical how tightly packed the cars stay and because they don't spread out, you really can't even race them in any kind of realistic fashion.

I went over to the website for this game and it said 4 to 5 weeks before the patch would be out. So we still have at least a month it sounds like before the game is fixed. Back to The Show!

If it's that far out it will be back to The Show for Vita and then onto The Show for PS4. Going to be hard to put this game back in at that point baring a great patch.

No ETA yet though apparently.

Might be looking into it too much, but when they say "New Chase entry requirements" does that mean the actual chase is going to stay the same (ie. 10 races with most points at the end winning) with only the requirements to get in changing? I don't see any mention of any changes to the actual chase format, so will we somehow end up with 16 drivers in last year's format of the chase or will there be knockout rounds?

Because Yeley and Waltrip are detrimental to making a 43 car field...
Also, does this mean Bayne's 21 car still won't be in? This company amazes me.

# 15 cusefan74 @ 04/10/14 07:30 PM
There is no way that all of that is gonna be fixed or the new stuff added without there being other problems. It's hard having any faith at all in this company and what they do.

Just looking at the @etxNASCAR twitter feed and they responded to another question regarding Bayne's 21 saying that he IS in the game but his number was apparently accidentally omitted from the list.

I wonder if this game is worth picking up at $34.99 now with all of those patch features listed.

If it's a static price that will stay that way I would wait and see how folks like it after patch. It you think the price is limited time offer it's a tough call.

As of right now I have buyers remorse paying full price on release day. But if your craving Nascar and don't have Nascar 2003 for PC it might be your only option.

Just my opinion.

Thanks man, I just been on a SIM racing kick the last 6 months and find I have more fun with games like Moto GP 13 Gran Turismo 5/6 than with games like Grid or Need for Speed. So with that said, not a lot of sim or real life racing league-based games out there. I never played Nascar 2003 so I'm probably going to be easier to please than those who have played the best the genre had to offer (always sucks when the best game in a genre was made 10 years ago).

I'm an offline gamer who wants to create a driver and run a season or two, some time trails and maybe some one-on-one challenges (if Nascar 14 has that).

This company has a track record of not fixing what they say they are gonna fix, so don't get it thinking the patch will fix everything. Usually there's not much change after the patch. I'm with Aggies, wait and see how the patch is.
