MLB 14 The Show News Post

Let's face it, everyone has that one pitch which they just can not hit. This inevitably leads to facing a pitcher with said pitch which just ends in frustration. Last year, I developed a sudden inability to hit big, bending curveballs. Who knows the exact reason why, but at the onset of my time with MLB 13 The Show, curveballs were automatic swings and misses.

This year, I'm sure I'll have a new 'least favorite pitch' to engage with. What about you? What pitch(es) are impossible for you to hit? Which pitchers present you with the most problems?

knuckleball for me or any slow curve pitch

More times than not, its the low and away slider. If the pitcher also has a two seamer to go along with it, I'm sunk. If he is on with both pitches, I just cant seem to tell them apart, makes for a rough game.

I also seem to have lower averages in general with right handed batters for some reason, never been able to figure that one out.

The low changeup gets me all the time.

Low change-ups, for sure. I absolutely cannot judge them at all.

Since I use zone hitting with the PCI ... it's the inside heat (to right handed batters). My thumb just doesn't want to move to the left that fast.

Sinkers. I can make contact with them often but I never hit a sinker ball pitcher well and I can almost never lay off of a pitch on the outside with a sinker. One time, and only one time, I was able to lay off and make the pitcher throw a ton of pitches so he was eventually taken out but even then I only scored one run, with three hits and none of those hits came off of a sinker.

58 foot curveballs, never have hit one.

Low changeup. If I have a runner on first, there are about to be two outs if the pitcher throws the low changeup.

Knuckleball by default for anybody however the approach i take is guess whatever pitch you struggle with in a location that gives you a hard time example for me i guess curveball down change up down slider outside that way it eliminates that spot and i can sit on a FB

Inside two-seamers that nip the inside corner are deadly. Low change-ups are devastating as well, especially when the CPU sets up the pitch with a few high fastballs. Not cool, dude. Not cool...

Knuckle sandwich

Though an outside slider from a RHP to a RHB is also very tough. Especially if the RHP has a good fastball too.

Knuckleballs and any pitch from Darren O'Day.

Low changeups are the death of me.

I cant hit pitches thrown by submarine pitchers. At all. Lol

But yes, change ups kills me everytime.

Changeup low in the zone. I hate that thing.

1. Sliders
2. Anything submarine
3. Anything low

Especially a low slider from a submarine pitcher lol

I got a LOT better at plate discipline in 2013, started drawing walks regularly, got into a nice groove with pitch recognition. But it's been months since I played so I'll probably be hacking a lot to start out in 2014. Hopefully muscle memory (thumbs have muscles in them) will take over and I'll be able to get back some of my moxie at the plate sooner rather than later.

Guess pitch helps a lot, if I get down in the count I always guess low so I don't strike out on something in the dirt.If I know it's not gonna be low, I have a much better chance at either taking a ball or swinging on something hittable. I can generally tell if a pitch is gonna be inside or outside, unless it's a lefty throwing a slider outside against a lefthanded batter, that pitch kills me. Against lefties I will also guess outside a lot when I've got 2 strikes on me.

i dont know why and it makes no sense, but i have to take my hand off the controller when i recognize a high fastball. for some reason, i twitch my hand and swing at them. if the crowd yells swing and / or i hear the ball hit the glove i twitch and swing.

otherwise, i is a pitcher with a slow fastball and an even slower change up or curve. i cannot hit those guys.
