NBA 2K: Fixing The Flaws With MyCareer

MyCareer mode in NBA 2K14 was a cool, but flawed experience.

I don’t know about you, but having to sit through nearly an hour of cutscenes at the beginning of the mode with no option to skip really ruined the experience for me from the get go. From there, the linear nature of the storytelling was more like holding your hand through a pre-designed NBA-experience moreso than letting you live your own story both on and off the court.

To me, MyCareer represented the best of intentions with some paltry execution.

I put thoughts down on this a long time ago, now finally decided put it in video form. Really I wish they spend time ironing the mode out. The potential is there.

Another vote for the skip feature. I don't like skipping with the cross button. I press it rapidly out of anxiety and when going into an unexpected cut scene, I miss it. Instead, we should use the options button or the touchpad click to skip.

Ok so I'm checking out my player card in the MyCareer menus and guess what I stumble across... My freaking fouls tendency is set at 100! Why in god's name would 2k set my players tendencies for me? Shouldn't I be required to customize my own tendencies while creating my player from the beginning? I always wondered why the refs would call a damn foul on my player every time down the court. I can barely play the ball because the refs are so quick to blow the whistle when I go for steals. I don't spam the steal button but the fact that I can't go for a clean steal even when I time it perfectly really gets under my skin!

Frankly until they fix the running of plays, no amount of anything will make this mode truly playable to me.
