We have just posted some MLB 14 The Show screenshots. All of these are from the PS4 version. We have been told the compression killed them and they hope to release super hi-res shots later.
One thing I would like to see by the time the game is released is higher resolution textures used for player faces to match the level in NBA 2K14. See this quick and dirty example:
Wow, such a little touch makes a big difference, it makes around the eyes look way more life like. hopefully some one over a SCEA see this and puts it into the game.

Yeah that's pretty much how i was expecting the show to look next gen

Wow! The textures truly set it off! In all honesty, what do you guys think the likelihood of getting these texture upgrades before the May launch date? I will definitely be keeping my fingers crossed for this upgrade!

Realistically I would imagine it would be possible to put those textures into the game by May. I think it makes the players look that much more Next Gen. However, even though I'm all for having those textures on the player models, it is kind of a pointless effect since you will never see them unless of a cut scene or replay that shows the player up close. With normal gameplay you never would see those textures since the camera will be too far away or the players back would be turned towards you.

Thanks for showing me that thread, I'm not a basketball fan whatsoever so I would have never visited that thread, and now I wish I didn't because those player models look awesome!!! so freaking life like!! now I'm jealous that the shows players model don't have that quality to them, no disrespect toward SCEA I'm positive their game will play better but those basketball player models are just too good looking. what can I say I'm a graphics whore.
Edit: But I'm not worried about The Shows player models for this year, within 3 years I bet The Show will look so good on the ps4 that it will be hard to tell the difference between the game and real life
lol, it's kinda funny that even on the PS4 build that was re-created from SCRATCH that they still included the GIANT sweat stains on the caps, which in real life are specifically designed with materials to wick and not show sweat.

Not entirely true I've seen plenty of ball players who especially wear red hats that are stained by sweat that leaves white sweat marks all over the hat.

The problem with the sweet stains are that they are permanent in MLB 13. From inning one through nine. Rain or sun. The sweat is always there.
It's gross. And distracting. Really hoping this gets fixed in 14.
One thing that I have a question about is the CAPs, will they be just as detailed as the "real" MLB player models or a scaled down version? (We know the MLB player models that have beards will be hand drawn, so I suspect the beards will be different but will the overall detail be different?)
They obviously wear sweaty caps themselves, isn't it obvious?
Sweaty hats are obviously a part of the game. Sweat-stained hats is number 7 on Bleacher Report's "Ten Worst Looks in Major League Baseball" list. Since it is part of the game, I am guessing that is why SCEA chooses to show the sweat on hats.
MLB and its cap manufacturer, New Era, say the new fabric is designed to "wick" away sweat and evaporate it while reducing the stains, odor, shrinkage and fading that come with wool. - USAToday.com
Key words, "reducing" not eliminating. That's why the sweat stains on the hats do not bother me. To add some realism, the hats could gradually become more saturated with sweat throughout the game (as someone else already suggested), but I don't see a need to do away with sweaty hats all together.
But I'm not sure why people are liking a post about leaving what amounts as a glitch in the game?
Of course, my sarcasm detector needs new batteries, so perhaps Ramone was joking? I guess we'll see soon enough!
How does it amount to a glitch? I'm genuinely curious.
I don't care either way (not attached to it, nor am I distracted by it...in fact, I am really only ever reminded of it on here ), but I always viewed it as simply a form of artistic license.

No you are right in the end. It is quite odd to see it all the time in the game, but its one of those things that I feel will get changed...when they change it. Even something as simple as, sunny day games= sweat, cold night games= less sweat would be fine with me. As long as its not all the time sweatsville.

This is NOT how it currently works (in 13 at least). Put the game in if I'm not making sense.
In 13; all players, at all times, in all weather conditions, have sweat stains on their hats.
Even when it's raining.
Even when it's 40 degrees.
Even in inning 1. Or inning 3. Or 9.
It's permanent.
It's a glitch, or an oversight. Not sure why this isn't making sense? I'm not debating sweat glands here. LOL!

Not sure why you're responding to my tongue-in-cheek post when Heroes is the one who brought it up, but I'll respond anyway... If I sweated out one of my hats I would get a new one, and I'd imagine the same applies to MLB players (especially the younger ones) since, you know, they get them for free and all
