Hey look everyone, it's LeBron James again. He can dunk and he can talk -- about himself even.

In an interview that will air on NBA TV this coming Monday, "King James" declared:

Quote:
"I'm going to be one of the top four that's ever played this game, for sure. And if they don't want me to have one of those top four spots, they'd better find another spot on that mountain. Somebody's gotta get bumped, but that's not for me to decide. That's for the architects."

While he may have a point should his career continue without any major hitches or drop-off in performance, many feel it's awkward to hear someone speak of their own legacy in such a way.

Sound Off: Do you have a problem with LeBron James declaring himself one of the four greatest players ever?

He's a Cleveland fan, meaning he should know damn well what LeBron did for that organization and how high of a level he was playing while he was there.. It was much more than just "good stats on a bad team" and comparing what he had done with his career at that point to Iverson and T-Mac's careers is just borderline disrespectful.. I think it was pretty apparent to most that he was the best player in the league when he left Cleveland, regardless of if he had a ring or didn't.. So yeah I'll consider him a bitter fan if the only argument he has is what he posted.. Because it's pretty much crap from my perspective..

It's hilarious to me that some of the same people who want to say Durant is better than LeBron or at his level are the same people who say LeBron wasn't the best in the league before he had a ring.. Meanwhile Durant also doesn't have a ring, nor an MVP award, and his only trip to the finals he was beat by this guy he's supposedly better than... Not to mention he didn't get there last year without his other superstar, which LeBron didn't even have one in Cleveland... But that's all sidetrack talk, my rant has nothing to do with Durant so I'll get off that argument..

You know I remember people who didn't like Jordan, and I've been right in the middle of all the crazy Laker/Kobe good and bad fans and haters, but I don't think I've ever witnessed people just seemingly have to dig and reach for lame excuses to try and knock down a players greatness the way people do with LeBron. Not just talking about this thread or anyone in particular but just over the years..

It's always the smallest things, any hole in his game just to try and say he isn't perfect.. No basketball player is perfect, no athlete is perfect, no person is perfect, people act like when someone compares him to other great players we are really comparing him to Jesus or something.. It's bizarre.

Your last sentence is why I'm responding. Lebron does get praised like he's Jesus of Basketball. C'mon the topic is Lebrons declaration like God commanded him to be the face of the NBA. Im not taking anything away from his career when I mention the moments his teammates saved his *** or made him look good. Its just that you guys get all antsy when someone mentions the truth. So what if the Ray Allen thing is old. That moment significantly changed the whole outcome on Lebrons career so you females can continue to articulate how great he is.

The whole Durant MVP conversation I don't care. Durant definitely not the leader he should be so I don't feel its necessary to compare them both stat for stat. They both have different roles on the floor so it's tough to draw comparison sometimes. I just think its annoying when OKC never gets the proper repesct. Because truthfully Durant is in the footsteps or shadow of Lebron. He's accomplished so much in his young career like Lebron did. I get sick of people who are in infatuation with Lebron its like he is Miami Heat. like Wade, Bosh, and Allen don't exist lol.

again with the whole "if it wasn't for Ray Allen" thing? SMH. It's like every Bron discussion takes place in bizarro world...

Its because they were Heat fans since guys like Glen Rice, Tim Hardaway, and Alonzo Mourning were there. Don't get me wrong they love the fact that Lebrons there. But they don't overdose on the praise like bandwagon fans do.

Uh yeah you're reading way too much into this. Nobody has ever said he was a perfect player or even implied it. As for the title of the thread, come on buddy, let's not try to pick up on things that aren't even there.

And people get annoyed when someone tries to say Lebron wouldn't be a two time champion if it weren't for his teammates/the Ray Allen shot because it's an incredibly stupid statement. You can literally say that about any great player that has ever won a title, and it's not even necessarily a bad thing, but people try and spin it into an insult, like anything and everything related to Lebron James.

BTW, if you're in a thread ABOUT Lebron james, you kind of should expect the posts to be mainly about LEBRON JAMES, not wade/bosh/allen, not because nobody wants to give the rest of the team their dues, but because it IS A THREAD ABOUT LEBRON JAMES.

Antsy when someone mentions the truth? That his career was Iverson and T-Mac level? PLEASE with that, that's ridiculous. LeBron wasn't the best player because he couldn't win a championship with Mo Williams?

And yeah Allen hit a big shot? What does that have at all to do with this conversation? Paxson hit game winning playoff shots for Jordan, Kerr hit game winning playoff shots for Jordan. Horry hit shots for Kobe, Shaq, Duncan, Fisher hit game winning playoff shots for Kobe and Shaq. James Worthy beat Magic out for finals MVP when they won a championship, Maxwell beat Bird out for a finals MVP..

A TEAM wins championships, and a team hits shots and scores points.. I don't even understand what argument you're making here.

Whatever sick of arguing about the same thing. That's stupid too me. Oh well if you guys are convinced about Lebron James possibly being top 4 go with it. I just think the whole team switching 2 final appearances and no rings kind of put a blemish on his career.Again, that's my perspective say what you want but with two different caliber teams he still couldn't get it down his first time around. Damn near failed a 3rd time. Nothing against Lebron personally but a top 4 spot with that much blemish on your career by now, you might as well consider Kobe # 1 then right now.

If it isn't about basketball then it becomes about grammar. I see. Guess I posted something acceptable. Thanks.
