MLB 14 The Show News Post

MLB 14 The Show is reporting to Spring Training tomorrow with an extensive reveal and an actual release date expected to (finally) be announced. We are expecting videos, hands-on details, and probably a fact sheet with a full list of features for this year's game to be revealed.

We don't know if we'll get any PS4 info from tomorrow or not, but we are certainly hopeful!

What are you expecting to be announced tomorrow? What do you want to see out of this year's game?

Well April first is opening day so it would make sense for Sony to release MLB 14 The Show on that day.

Hey stop clogging the thread with your collective, "so and so just told me the release date is . . ."

1. Please try to stay on topic
2. Wait a day for the real answer
3. If you still need to tell us that you have some special place with the release date there is another thread with many of your proclamations. Thanks guys!

We've already been treated to that with PS3 but my guess is they can even take it a notch further on the PS4. I'd like to see hooking liners, balls down the line that hit the outfield wall, etc. Just physics we haven't been able to see due to limitations with the PS3. Third is collision detection. Obviously collisions at the plate are no longer allowed, but what about base runners sliding into fielders without the canned animation like on PS3 and how about outfielders colliding. It'd just be nice not to see guys morph through each other anymore. Finally is presentation but I don't really need to go into detail on that because it's all been said before.
As great as The Show is, what I bolded above is one thing that has really held it back for me. Hard hit ground balls down the line never die on their own in real life. They either hook down the line and hit the side boundary, or roll into the corner and bounce around. I'd say this applies to ground balls in the game in general. A typical ground ball single up the middle or in between SS/3B, 1B/2B should roll pretty deep into the outfield on an empty field. At Tampa Bay, a decent or better hit ground ball would not stop until it hit the wall.

I also think the outfields in the game are too small. Often times you get a base hit and the defender is there to field the ball almost right when it hits the outfield grass. Has kind of taken baserunning out of the game, you almost have to hit and run to advance a runner for 1st to 3rd on a single.

So no one can post at all until tomorrow then?

No one will have answers for anything until tomorrow, in a thread asking what you expect, I would imagine release date being part of info people would discuss, no?

I expect a May release for PS4 and then much anger and rage. Not from me, just in general.

I'm interested in what the technical differences between the ps3 and ps4 version's are.

I'm mainly just interested in the PS4 edition. i know what they can deliver on the PS3 so i'm sure that will be great. The 1st release on the new console is huge to me. Interested to see if they have this machine figured out and if they are able to produce a real solid game to start the new console out. I don't have to many doubts about that tho.

-Really wanting to see how it looks on PS4
-The features (player models, modes, ex..)
-What changes/upgrades have been made to franchise

super stoked for tomorrow

That's not what I said. There is another thread that discusses the release date so why not just go there and speculate your heart out. I predicted the release date would come out tomorrow but I left it at that.

Seeing the animations and ball physics from Fifa for the PS4, im looking forward to all the little things that can now be added...fluent fielding, throwing, pitching and batting motions come to mind

Especially since Fifa was out right away and the Show has had some extra time i can see it being even more polished which is exciting!

Since I'm a civilian this year(no Community Week )...I'm going to chime in!

I expect the release dates to be different for PS3 and PS4.
What they will be and how far apart...I have no idea....but it will be because of finishing touches and not because they actually want different release dates IMO.
I think we'll get a great amount of info from PSNation(Glenn) and some screenshots from both the PS3 and PS4 from him......as well as some PS3 gameplay footage.
I think the PS4 footage will be the launch trailer from SCEA themselves and then we'll start getting PS4 footage of actual gameplay later from various outlets.

In game....
PS3 and PS4 will be the same inasmuch as modes I think.....with the PS4 version being much, MUCH better than it's PS3 counterpart in the graphics department......but that will be no slouch either.(yeah...this is obvious)
-more animations and smoother animations
-improved logic in franchise mode in pretty much all areas....trades...signings......budget logic...etc.
-better in game logic as well
-better commentary
-more stat overlays in franchise and game

I'm HOPING for
-editable everything....but especially potential....service time and contracts. I'll take any of those three to start...and hope for all of them at some time.
-better stat tracking and at the very least.....the carry over of stats from in season to post season
-custom league setup(I seriously doubt this feature this year with all the extra work....but REALLY praying for this OFFLINE for following years)(I think we have it ONLINE already....correct?)

We know about quick counts and year to year saves from '14 on.....but there are definitely some very nice additions this year that I know most players will love!

I'm waiting for the Vita information. I have a 360 and I'm planning to wait a while before moving to the next generation. Vita has become my go-to gaming device!

Exactly on spot! I'm really pumped. I followed all the news leading up to GTA V relase for two years... I've been paying as much, if not more attention to MLB 14 The Show for PS4.

This is what I hope for the release date : The first week in march. I know that won't be the case, but we all know we want the game to be relased on normal time. But as Knight said, there will be a delayed release for the PS4 version to make sure the game is good enough for the public.
