NBA Live 14 News Post

NBA Live 14 title update #2 is in the hands on Microsoft and Sony and should arrive on Xbox One and PS4 soon. When it becomes available, we'll let everyone know.

EA Sports has revealed more details, after giving out little nuggets earlier this morning.

The update will include a new Shootaround mode, where you can choose from any player in the game and practice dribbling, signature moves, shooting, gathers and more. The team has tweaked the lighting and textures of every player and uniform to improve the graphics. For those that are curious, the ongoing facial scanning will not be added this year, the plan is to add them to NBA Live 15.

In terms of gameplay, the team has improved responsiveness and control for many of the NBA superstars. They tweaked first steps and dribble moves to be more explosive. Ball physics and pass speed, along with passing and catching animations have been improved as well.

The NBA All-Star court and jersey update will also arrive, along with additional Adidas Hardwood Classic uniforms. A new basketball, signed by the new NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver will also make its way into the game.

Doesn't it take a week or 2 to push out once it's in their hands? Or have they had it fur that long?

Nobody can say EA isn't trying. I'll give them that. Looking forward to them coming through. Hopefully the update will be pretty sweet.

In the Bleacher Report interview, Sean O'Brien states that the patch will go live on Tuesday, February 11.

Not gonna give these dudes a cookie for doing something that should have been done already before a 60 dollar price tag was slapped on a box and sold to everybody.

Having said that, it's nice to see that we're seemingly getting closer to having 2 competent basketball titles on the market again.

Hopefully this will save the game.

Any mention of fixing the baseline cameras? they were unplayable before for numerous reasons

exciting exciting exciting! I will spend HOURS in the shoot around mode and hopefully the input lag is improved with the handling. yes! its about time. any support after the launch is appreciated by me. all too often games come out and get no support. if you check this game out from initial launch to now it has improved dramatically.

one thing I didn't like was how he basically admitted all of the synergy stuff was done manually. I was under the impression that they created a system that did this automatically. that makes me understand why we spend weeks waiting for roster updates and player updates. I mean toure murry isn't even in the game! also if I'm not mistaken didn't live 10 have an automated system for delivering synergy data? so why are we going backwards?

with all that side I hope Microsoft & Sony fast track these patches ASAP

This question might be a stretch but will the update effect the demo as well? I thought I heard around launch time that all the updates (including rosters and patches) would apply to the demo as well but I could be wrong. It would be nice to check out the improvements without having to purchase or rent the game

I'm pretty excited about this update.

I was gunna bring up the demo, as well. Either they need to update it or re-release. I was hoping the last update they did would apply to the demo I still have on my PS4 but it never did. Need dat, EA.

I'm going to touch on this comment and not in a negative way but mores in a way that tries to explain why about half of what the general consensus is like for NBA Live 14.

Today I REBOUGHT NBA LIVE 14... I had it EARLIER AT LAUNCH mind you for both PS4 AND Xbox1(color me Tomba) and i came to the conclusion that for me on xbox 1 it was better.

So I've now invested OVER probably 150 for the game (barring price cuts) and i can totally understand where ppl are coming from wanting this game to be good out the box for the out of retail price...

I can't COUNT how many gamestops I've gone into and even salesman bashing the game and recommending me the OTHER game(which i'm just sick of)

The first thing i'd like to say is that EASports(sean in particular) were REALLY upfront with us. NONE of the developers over at 2k EVER spoke up it was ALWAYS their PR duo of LD2K and Ronnie(and forgive me for calling names out but it HAS to be said) Sean Obrien was THERE for us...from the start. The dev team DOESNT have ANY say in what the game costs its the companies determination so if ANYthing we should be upset with management? LOL...

That saidNBA Live 14 has STEADILY been improving but not in the way we'd like to see not immediate but SUBTLY and the dev HAS pointed that out to us most recently with Sean pointing out that its simply NOT doable any more in NBA Live 14

make no excuse I do not enjoy NBA Live 14(NO SLIDERS!@#$%WTF!@$%^) but it does show signs of a better executed basketball game. when played by its controls and sets plays(iso call cut calls etc quick plays)its very decent albeit arcady . Its like taking nba jam and nba live 10 and mashing them together to make NBA Jam 14 just with sense of rpg strategy.

The game pigeon holds you to no end to play IT'S game the DEV's game it instantly put you in it's "mindset" of what they want in a basketball game and thats why its like a coin op....SIMPLE

thats ok nothing wrong with that i just wish it was a bit more say HARDCORE basketball and by hardcore i mean user manageable sliders and player editing would go A LONG WAY in solving this games upfront COIN OP appearance and feel

But i'm ALL FOR the games next update.

The fixes to lighting due to the complaints I had and many others also commented on about players looking plastic HAVE BENN answered so a BIG YAY for that!

Gameplay fixes are yet to be seen but i commented that gameplay after patch 2 was about 10% improved and that recent gameplay fixes to animation in regards to layups blocks and shot blocking makes in now almost a rounded game not an entirely well rounded game but moreso EVEN an somewhat balanced

as far as practice mode?

I'll just ref everyone to this very poignant video by my favorite basketball player of all time

Man, good points, I was just about to write some of that. Here is the thing people, the NBA Live team over at EA inherited a very very bad situation. The pressure those guys must have had on their shoulders during the creation of Live 14 must have been tremendous. They have done everything within their power to try and improve the game, while not sacrificing next years title. I firmly believe that next years title will succeed and I look forward to seeing what the guys have in store. Sean seems like a really good guy and I commend him for stepping up and admitting what they did wrong. Now, I do think that these guys deserve to get some blame, however, I think the MAJORITY of the blame has to be put on the higher ups at EA. They are the ones that put Live in this situation, they are the ones that forced Sean and his team to release the game in the state it was released in. Sure, 2k looks great, but guess what, fundamentally there are a lot of things that are broken that aren't broken on live and vice versa. I'm glad we're getting this patch and it's gotten me excited about the future of Live.

same here

no sliders i was a bit hurt where i sit

BUT for what it is this might turn out to be a good pick up and play game just NOT the nba game Im looking for I prefer slider and roster editing because i LOVE that rpg element in sports games and NOT that type of rpg element where you take ONE single player (yourself usually) and fufill your dream of being an nba player I'm not into that
