NBA 2K14 News Post

2K Sports released patch number four for NBA 2K14 this afternoon for Xbox One users. No timetable on when PS4 users will get the patch, but 2K says it is coming 'soon'.

Here are the notes:

  • Addressed an issue where some users were unable to load/play any previously saved files.
  • Addressed an issue where some users were unable to properly negotiate contracts in MyGM.
  • Users are now able to advance to the next round of the playoffs when playing the series deciding game in MyGM.
  • Addressed an issue with Friend invites that was preventing some users from entering into Head-to-Head and Team-Up matchmaking.
  • Corrected a case where the game would exit out after the first change of possession during the Rising Stars challenge in MyCAREER mode.
  • Improved performance in The Park by fixing a number of hitches that would occur during gameplay.
  • Fixed an issue where the title would be unresponsive when booted without being signed into a profile.
  • Fixed an issue where the game would occasionally exit out shortly after boot when there was a large number of content update notifications queued up.
  • Corrected an issue where thumbnails in the MyPLAYER Store and Dressing Room would fail to appear in some cases.
NOTE: All patch fixes are intended to work in your existing game mode saves (MyCAREER, MyGM, etc.).

How is the patch working for you? Give us your impressions in the comments!

I don't believe expecting a $60 game to work, even when 2K's servers are down is being spoiled. I don't believe being able to manage your own saves is spoiling the fan base. I don't believe running plays where guys won't stop to dry hump each other in passing is spoiling the fan base.

I am still getting transition set play picks, this is still there.

Didn't see anyone say anything about any of that.

I saw someone mention headbands on players.

I think the point that he was trying to make is headbands =/= 2K's unstable servers.

The message of frustration gets convoluted when you have some complaining about headbands, and others complaining about the fact that their saves are useless if 2K can't maintain their servers.

It does affect the game. If the game is supposed to be authentic then Melo and Lebron should have their headbands. Its not about being spoiled this is something that has been status quo for a long time now. This is not something that they should be getting wrong then ignoring. Everything about the game matters, and people have their own gripes. Stop telling people what they have issues with makes them spoiled because you have separate issues.

Totally agree, but only if 2K didn't have bigger issues to take care of...like tying saves to their servers, then being unable to get them to function properly for a large portion of time.

They have to know what battles to pick and fight. A consumer irritated that Melo's headband disappears, takes a back seat to a consumer who literally can't play the game; or one who literally can't advance in a mode without it crashing, or who literally can't utilize the functions in a mode.

The customer who cares about the headband will say it's the most important thing in the world...but that's his opinion..

That's not being able to see the forest because the trees are in the way..

Take note of the bigger picture..

Typical OS thread. Completely derailed. Thanks for the impressions, for those who are actually posting impressions.

Once again, can anyone confirm if there is Free Agency in MyCareer? That will determine whether I keep the game or not.

The people who work on headbands or accessories in general are not the people maintaining the servers. There is no picking battles as they have different teams working on different things about the game. Every issue is important. No issue is lower on the totem pole, they all need to be fixed. Last thing I want is to boot up the game and nobody is wearing their trademark accessories. It wont be the same.

Here's an idea:

How about you guys create an Official 2K Next Gen Headband Thread.

2 pages of this is more than enough. This is a Patch Impressions Thread. Not a debate on how you feel about the lack/abundance of accessories.

You mean the people who design the stuff? Well yea..

But if something is going to be implemented into a patch, that's not a "separate team" working on anything. The headbands disappearing is in the code, code is what a patch is comprised of, and that team has other things they are focused on.

I agree no one wants to see players without trademark accessories, but there's a huge number of people out there who can't even get to the point where the accessories disappear.

Can anyone give some more input on this?

# 92 Mintsa @ 01/24/14 10:57 AM
How is the input lag for online ranked games ? Was this even suppose to be addressed ?

# 93 m1ke_nyc @ 01/24/14 11:09 AM
I apologize for my part in taking the thread off track. Just alot of frustration as this game has so much potential. For everyones sake I hope there is a 5th patch as so many things went unaddressed.

Copout is a bit harsh. I am not saying they shouldn't fix everything else. Just saying give them some time. Let me ask you this - would you rather have received this patch NOW to at least make the game playable, or would you prefer to have a patch that fixed everything, but you didn't get the patch till February/March? Not everyone who plays the game is the same opinions on gameplay issues - so I imagine some (including myself) appreciate getting THIS patch for now. Anyway - sorry to get off topic. I will continue to test the game, but so far so good since patch.

Still can't load MyCareer without getting booted out!

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game? Man, I hope that works for you.

# 97 Ritch211 @ 01/24/14 11:48 AM
I can't even play any game period on my PS4 so it is good to see people mostly only complaining about some cosmetic stuff unaddressed in the update. I would take that over not even being able to load a game without it crashing or getting stuck in a continuous load.
As it is right now, I can't even play an offline, quick game. It's been that way since the first update for me. 50 reinstalls later, the only improvement I have seen is that I can access the menu and select teams now, but it will never let me actually get in to a game.

I'd just be happy to be able to actually play this game, so I agree, all of this minor headband stuff isn't nearly as important the game working for me. Hoping the patch fixes it up for me.
I get that stuff is annoying, but I can't even get any mode to load an actual game so I can play ball. Cosmetic stuff like that is easy to resolve I would assume, so I hear how its something that should've come out with this patch, but there are bigger issues for many.

How long do you think it takes to fix this stuff...are you a programmer, how familiar are you with networking, or anything it takes to make a video game? Some of this stuff I imagine could take months to figure out/fix. Your copout argument is lame. But I digress...I am contributing to the demise of this thread, so I will stop.

To be fair, MrMBrown isn't putting out "the #1 sports game of all time", charging consumers $60 and reaping the financial benefits. With great power comes great responsibility. They have the power covered but are slacking on the whole "responsibility" aspect.
