Assetto Corsa News Post

The word simulation is thrown around quite liberally in the world of PC racing software, almost to the point where fans of the genre have become desensitized to its actually meaning. So when Italian game developer Kunos Simulazioni announced the development of their most recent title, Assetto Corsa, and claimed it to be the most realistic racing simulator ever – we were a bit skeptical, and obviously felt compelled to try it out. Once a simple one man show, Kunos has turned into a full-fledged development team with an abundance of resources and information at their disposal, and they seemingly know what they are doing.

So what is Assetto Corsa? Well according to Kunos it is a next-generation driving simulator with real world circuits, multiple car types, a virtual career mode, and multiplayer races.

It is really well done - even in its current stage. I find myself putting in seat time even without AI or MP.

I have it and love it.

It's fun to get more content every 2 weeks.....It's like a big surprise when you get home..

Just an FYI - The game received its bi-weekly update today and as expected there are now a handful of special events that include AI drivers. They also released a new tyre model in today's update -

Have only raced 2 races so far with them, but contrary to what some are saying, I am finding them pretty solid for this stage of the development.

A.I. testing... Keep in mind, Empty Box is very experienced.

What you see in the video is pretty much what you get out of the AI right now. It is aggressive and chooses different lines, but still some kinks to be worked out - and on lower level of difficulties the AI tends to slow down and bunch up in the corners a bit much.

Overall I am pretty pleased with their implementation right now, considering this is only the 0.5.1 build.

Just a heads up: you will need DirectX 11. Windows Vista and some older graphics cards (mine included) will not run DirectX 11. There is a work around to be able to use DX10 but they advise to run it at your own risk.

so how is this game? The Competizione update is out. I have a Steam gift card and no idea what to spend it on. Not much action on this game. Had to find this old thread via a search to bump it. I got a new RTX 2070 card and looking at games with ray tracing and this is one of them.
