NBA Live 14 News Post

The silence from EA Sports on NBA Live 14 was becoming worrisome, but as of this morning we finally received a short update on Twitter about the company's efforts to scan Utah Jazz Players heads for what appears to be NBA Live 14.

With the Jazz in Orlando, it's likely the Live team is getting as many teams scanned as possible as they come through town. This appears to be part of EA's efforts to improve the game's visuals as promised shortly after release.

The Tweet from the @EASportsNBA account said, "Player Head Scanning this morning with the @utahjazz. Big man @Enes_Kanter is In the Game! #NBALIVE14."

What do you think? Positive news?

They must be getting teams coming thru Orlando...they are in town for a game tonight. I hope they didn't just start because there have been several WC teams already here for their lone game of the season.

Actually this is a smart move by EA.
They are spending resources for improvements that will be used also in Live 15.
Basically they are developing next year game and improving current one at the same time and with the same money

Interesting i like that

And I'll ask again. If these "updates" are going to be put into '14, how did they get away with slapping a $60 price tag on it?

And where was this effort pre-launch?

Live 15? You better see how 14 does before declaring a 15.

They should release information on a patch or regarding improvements already made post-release (if any).

I was watching a youtube video the other day, and the gameplay looked better than those circa the release date... maybe my eyes are deceiving me.

Who cares if the game's still dumpster juice!?

If they are going to do this, then they need to figure out a way to scan body types in the game as well. Live has never been able to get the body type of players right. They need to harness the tech's true power to bring out the next gen visuals and animations, and stop stringing us along with this unpolished effort.

The sad part we're forgetting is that there still is a thing called NBA2K14 out there which makes new faces on Live useless unless the animations are new as well. IMO I could never pay for an NBA Lie (on purpose) game again as long as there is an NBAVC2K $60 beta available to buy. I know what im doing. War EA hiring Konami to make there NBA games from the ground up instead of EA making them from the underground up.

Wait wasn't this suppose to be done before the game releases? I'm confused

This shouldve been done day 1, If thats the case then live 14 should have been priced at $30.00 for half the effort they put into day 1 launch....2k had this done pre launch and not to mention 2k came out on 360 and ps3...now i ask, whats live excuse again?????

# 13 nhthelegend @ 12/18/13 03:04 PM
Man, I guess I kind of respect their efforts to take in criticism and attempt to improve their product, BUT, this is next gen!!! I mean, how long has 2K been scanning faces? Long before the existence of the PS4 and Xbox One, that's for damn sure. What the hell was EA thinking when they released this garbage? The player faces from NBA 2K11 looked better than 95 percent of Live 14. It's ridiculous.

They are just now doing this?

Let's not be naive here guys.

Your really think ANY developer, would have the capabilities to scan EVERY active player in the league before the launch of one iteration of a game.

Some of ya'll take your criticism way too far, man. Can guarantee you that 2k doesn't have every player scanned either.

Well, not sure how much good that will do when the gameplay is the biggest issue.

Apparently putting 2 & 2 together proved to be too difficult for you, given what I quoted is a sentence apart in it's original context along with what I underlined, and thread topic.

Yet 2K scanned a vast majority of the league.

This is a good move by Live though. Next is to rework models, lighting, and animations.

It is posts like yours that have moderators coming into these threads giving us warnings because your posts are bait posts that start arguments. I have been observing your posts, and you are one of the guys here who like to start pointless arguments in these threads. If you like the game and want to give positive impressions about it then alright, but do not give people flack if they want to criticize EA or the Live team. We are tired of them stringing us along and not bringing their best effort.
