With each new Microsoft console, a racing game is always there at launch. It was Project Gotham Racing by Bizarre Creations for the original Xbox and PGR 3 for the Xbox 360. This time, on the Xbox One, we have Forza Motorsport 5; the racing franchise from Turn 10 Studios. With new hardware comes new features like Drivatars and challenges.

Forza 5 keeps the same gameplay intact but some of the tracks and many vehicles featured in previous games are noticeably absent and the career mode doesn't really break any new ground.

I finally got my TX Racing wheel in last night for this game, and it's a completely different experience (naturally). The FF in the game is jaw-droppingly incredible. You can actually feel the front tires chatter and lose traction in a corner, and it gives you some really subtle cues on how far past grip you are--so pushing it a bit further and allowing the rear end to break loose becomes doable, as you can feel exactly when to stab the gas again and shoot the car off out of the corner.

I was absolutely stunned how much cooler it made the game. I know that wheels always work better with racing games, and I'm sick of buying them, but at least my wheel-aholic issues helped here--the default pedals that come with it work alright, but the big T500RS pedals connected directly to it, so now I have a TX wheel with a triple-pedal setup even though their "T3PA" pedals are "Coming Soon".

I'd highly recommend that TX racing wheel if you're on the fence. I've read various reports on the wheel with deadzone issues and whatnot, but I think people just didn't do the firmware update that is required (or didn't do it properly). There are zero issues with the wheel's dead zones or anything else that I experienced.
TX racing wheel eh? Never heard of it until now and boy is it expensive! I already have alot invested in my CSR gear so it's really hard to justify another wheel.

About that sun glare. Yeah it's good for tv watching like you say, but I feel that I'm driving instead of watching so it doesn't simulate the driving aspect. I'd just put on a pair or shades if the sun was in my face.

Of course, this could be remedied if there was a time of day setting. Isn't this next-next-gen?? lol

Still enjoying the game.

I heard you there. I already have a Fanatec CSR Elite, CSR Elite Pedals, the CSR Shifter, a couple of wheel stands, the Thrustmaster T500RS, etc.

But none of them worked with the XB1, and I love racing...so I had no choice but to get a TX also. And boy, was I happy I did.

How do you buy more cars and tracks? I read on the net that they said they'd sell a pack of 10 cars each month. Where do I go??

You can buy the first 10 car pack the LaFerrari pack through the marketplace, or you can you can buy the season pass thing for cars which is 50 bucks and gets you 6 car packs as they come out.

Right now the first car pack is the only thing you can actually buy and get now, the track downloads haven't been added to the store or really confirmed in detail much from t10

Yup, the ingame marketplace says coming soon. You can also get to it the pack by going to buy cars and finding the LaFerrari and trying to buy it, it then prompts you the option for buying the car pack through xbox one's marketplace.

In Forza how can you tell what the car specs for each race should be? I realize it will say like "Current car eligible" but how do you know the lowest and highest car that can be used?

I hate not doing too well and then upgrading my car a bunch then going back to race and it says my car needs downgraded. Or on the flip side sometimes it tells me I should consider upgrading my car in order to better compete.

How the heck am I supposed to know what the spec range is so I can quit just guessing??

When you first select the series, where you would see "Current Car Eligible" on the right, there's also other specs--less than X performance, specific drive train or manufacturer, etc. I can't tell you the exact button presses to do because I'm not in front of the console, but you can see the max power allowed and any other potential restrictions in the series description when you first go to enter it.

Only one currently out is the one made by Thrustmaster.

Mad Catz has one coming out in Feb. I believe and will be the same price also.

They can go eat those wheels. Not buying another $500 setup when the one I have works fine with every other platform but the Xbox One.

Been working on a livery for a charity event V8 Supercar Race I'm taking part in next month. First paint I've done on FM5, it's still a work in progress.

Great news Forza fans! Some big issues and features that were missing from the game are being implemented with the next update!

The multiplayer replay save is a big deal for the guys that do organized races, now there can be proper steward inquiries and media coverage of the races. And repairable aero, something the Forza community has been asking for for years!

With no cars being rewarded as a part of leveling and having to buy unlocked DLC cars ingame to actually use them aren't the only cars you would have to sell the ones you made the decision to buy?
