This kind of stuff kills me...I'm genuinely asking, what am I supposed to do against this?
http://youtu.be/_AZhs6gpCig
Okay so I picked the game up and have been playing for the past week to get an opinion on it. Lets start out be saying this game has a decent foundation. I have completed more games in this week alone then NBA Live 08, 09, and 10 combined. So that’s a good thing.
Gameplay
Dribbling is solid mechanic that has a solid foundation but still needs a ton of working on it. First, some animations look great while a majority look bad and seem to be missing frames. This has been an issue for many years now in the Live series. Some of the dribble animations look really wacky to me, the in-an-out in particularly looks horrible and seems like a damn gumpy player was used to motion capture it. It doesn't look natural in most cases. But overall this is a solid area and a solid mechanic that can be great if built upon.
Shooting in this game is horrible and no other way to put it, it could be from the lack of animations and variety or simply missing functionality. I loved NBA Live 10 shooting mechanics and that should be brought back. Step-backs jump shots look horrible and most of the damn time you get block on the perimeter for your jump shot because either the player shoots to damn slow or the defender simply jumps and defines the laws of physics by jumping from rest to 15 feet in the air. The developers need to look at NBA Live 10 for shooting. Also would like to see dynamic jump shot animations like next-gen 2K14 is doing. Or go back and look at NBA Live 07 shooting. Also why can't you adjust your shot in mid-air or am I missing something? This is 2014, we should have the ability to do so, its been in NBA 2K8 ever since.
Animations, Animations, Animations
This is the black hole for this game, you simply don't know what's going to happen, and in most cases can't comprehend why that specific animations plays out. First it seems that this game or its animations aren't running at a constant 60FPS and it shows badly. I could honestly write a damn novel on what's wrong with the animations in this game, but since I don't have the time I will list key points. First transitions animations are horrible, some animations have you walking then the next one has you exploding in the air to dunk on four defenders. No consistency with animations, some animations are speed up which shouldn't be done, I don't understand the design choice behind this decision? Second not enough variety, simple contextual animations will greatly help this game. Yes, I know dunks are nice to have but there should be thousands of simple animations around the rim, I have seen every Center and PF in this game do the same dunk when they could simply do a smart lay-up. Quality, many of the animations in this game look horrible and I see many of the same animations from previous games. Honestly, the animation team needs to seriously sit down and do something because these animations are not even close to the quality of next-gen, let alone NBA 2K14.
Graphics.
Court and crowd looks nice. Players are bad, no other way to put it. Most people who have seen me play is game believe its Xbox 360 game and not a not generation one. This needs a serious overhaul.
Also, the post game needs fixing, the CPU always does a spin move baseline and jump-step out of bounds and nothing is called and they always end up getting a dunk. This is needs to be addressed in a patch.
Overall, I like this game and will continue to play it with its many flaws. Worth the money.

As much as I like the game I can't get past the CPU not calling timeouts. Start edit this game on a 20-0 run and they didn't call timeout once.
This has to be patched or I can't play Live anymore.

I was late to BBall, being from UK don't hear much about it really. But NBA2k12 got me into basketball and following it.
Played 2k12,13 and 14 Next gen and enjoyed it, looks good feels good, but after a while you feel the game is just to easy. PG and my PF sticking 30-40 points on HoF. Hell, 3rd game with a rating of 67 i had 38 + 17 rebounds + 5 blocks.
Heard Live was coming and got the demo, did not like it one bit. felt awkward, looked bad, game play was lame. After this, looked around and seen the review slating it.
So, heard about the patches and how they had a positive effect on the game and that EA were looking to sort it out. Found a copy cheap and im enjoying it.
I find it plays more true to real life basketball then 2k. Im not trying to start a Live vs 2k, just how i feel it compares to the leading BBall game.
I find it hard to score i have to work for it (I dont use or know any cheese moves). When i do a good dunk, it make me feel good. 2k, my PG dunks over 3 people easy.
I think EA can get Live to a very enjoyable game at a good level, its got potential and i think they need to sort 14 out if they want Live 15 to sell.
It needs some more tweaks on the animations along with some more dunks, layups, shot types etc some more contact animation. Also noticed sometimes that the AI freezes and commits a turnover
To sum up, it can be enjoyable and feels rewarding and its improving.

I can’t believe anyone on here praises this game. I think people must be just looking for a fun escape as this plays nothing like a simulation of the NBA. I buy all EA sports games, but this one is embarrassing compared to FIFA.
- Authentic team styles? Every point guard initiates the offenses in this game!!!!! Mario Chalmers is John Stockton. Ridiculous.
- 99.9% of the time the cpu grabs an offensive rebound they try to dunk it. No one passes out. Even when they need a three to tie, they go up for two!!!
- Kevin McHale was interviewed last week and said “We have two paces, uphill and downhill”. I.e. slow and fast. This game only goes uphill. There’s no nba pace at all except the slow walk it up half court sets tired teams run to START a game in the nba, not ALL game. They still walk it up and play a tired half court set in this game when they are down 4 with 30 seconds to go!!!
- Blocks??? If you have any semi decent 7 footer on your roster and you can’t block 20 shots a game then you should check your controller response as blocking in this game is so easy you could shut your eyes and sleep half the game and still block as many shots as Wilt.
- Every center and power forward are basically the same around the basket. Everyone can spin and jam like blake griffin does in Mr 24s video above. The ONLY difference is guys like Dirk can also step out. But every big is a dunking, spinning, shawn kemp clone in this game. Absolutely ridiculous.
- NO CPU TIME OUTS!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! How could dozens of you post here and hardly anyone mention this!
- Absolutely no physicality around the hoop. It’s like everyone is coated in grease and you slider by anyone!
- Dozens more problems. Game flaws in this thing would be war and peace length if someone listed them all.

Seriously, part of me enjoying this game is filtering out the one-a-game things that made me quit when it first came out. That is what let me see the good and get enjoyment out of it. The only things that truly get to me now are the ones that drastically affect the game, CPU running time out, players not catching passes (watching it go out of bounds), etc.

Not taking injuries into account, the current roster errors are:
Bynum still on Cleveland
Deng still on Chicago
Lee still on Boston
Bayless still on Memphis
Orton still on Philadelphia
Williams still on Los Angeles Lakers
Wayns still Los Angeles Clippers
Amundson still on New Orleans
James still on Chicago
Childress still on New Orleans
It seems like December 10 is the cutoff point for how recent the roster is right now, as that's when the Rudy Gay trade and Stephen Jackson signing occurred.
Every transaction I looked at since December 10 is still not reflected in the game.

Wednesday is also the day that Ultimate Team has been updated in the past, so we'll see if anything new is added to the mode today.
There have been no Ultimate Team additions since December 25.

What makes it bad about that is every time you click something the game is looking online for new info, roster updates from what I can tell. I would think the roster thing is an automatic thing without much from the developers as far as hands-on. Maybe something isn't working the way it's supposed to be working. Who knows. I DO fear that they may have abandoned ship though. If that's true then that would be sad.
It would probably be a good idea to post at the EA forums also. I'll do that later on myself.

Im still dissapointed in EA and the Live team even after the updates and improvements of this game. I have been playing this game the past few weeks again after the update, and cannot wrap my mind on how far away they are still. The game has a current gen feel of about 3 years ago. I can write a book on the amount of nonsense I've seen playing this game the past few weeks. Luckily I'm borrowing this game from my bud and did not shell out my hard earned dollars for it. I have bought and supported their past Live games, but if they want my money next year then they have to go all in next year.

I took my own advice, well at least half of it lol, and looked at the EA forums and someone did say something that seemed plausible. It's entirely possible that being this was the holiday period maybe things were quiet over there because of that. They might have been running a skeleton crew during this period.

If this was a small time company and not EA Sports I could probably roll with that....but nah man
We're almost a month behind...

Now I don't know EA's internals at all but I do know companies do break it down and some break it down more than others.

I would disappointed if they abandoned ship on us. Seems as if the crickets have started with no new info as of late.
I also would hope that someone from EA would chime in on what's going on with the Daily Rosters/Synergy that was promised???
If nothing new is gonna happen going forward at least let us know??

Then they should've told us; "Updated daily, except during the holiday season" Otherwise, I'll have to hold them to their word..

Are you saying you're afraid that something internally at EA has changed since that statement/patch?

What you mentioned above was the same thing that I thought I heard. I was under the impression that a "Big Patch" was coming as well????
