While the launch lineup for the Playstation 4 is a healthy and robust one, it is lacking when it comes to the racing genre. After the delay of Drive Club, fans of the genre are really only left with one option, and that is EA’s Need For Speed: Rivals. We have spent some time with the newest Need For Speed title released and here are some quick impressions of what we liked, and what could be improved.

It's a pretty fun game, and visually impressive as well. I'd love to see some OS people out on the open road. I feel like this game could really shine with a group of friends.

Did you play last years Need For Speed Most Wanted? If so, how does this compare to it?

I did not. I haven't owned a racing game in a really long time so this is quite a leap from my last experience. But I just read the synopsis of Most Wanted, and it sounds like an identical setup.

I actually bought this game, just wanted a racing game to go with the others I bought. Its not a bad game, but it also doesn't feel next gen at all. The graphics look good but it comes with some minor flaws. It does look grainy, the landscape looks too shiny and blurry sort of, like it has some glow effect with the grass.

The crashes are very sloppy, car damage isn't good, this is no Burnout, things I didn't like was when you crash or hit something pieces go flying as you expect but pieces off the car which there are LOTS of pieces for some reason like you just broke some huge glass cup, but the pieces all float and disappear quickly. And when you hit poles, no matter how you hit them, they all fall over like nothing, with no effect to driving, and they all bend in the same spot then disappear. Again you don't get any effect like you do with GTA, basically drive off road all you want, hit all the fences and poles you want, they don't slow you down. And for some reason no matter what all the cars have rain drops on them, its like they had to add some detail so they put rain drops on all the cars, no matter what you see the cars always have rain drops.

Other things I didn't like; the map seems limited and small, your also forced to go through a long tutorial when starting the game, the whole tutorial feels cheap.

Oh and you start out with 1 car, and it doesn't feel like your driving fast either.

Its a OK game if you liked what Need for Speed is, but to me it doesn't feel like what a next gen PS4 game should be. It has less options then what some launch titles for the PS3 would have, and it doesn't have ground breaking graphics either.

And yes I played the last few Need for Speed games, this feels just like the last one they made, I would really call this a cheap port with some flashy textures.

how much i use to love NFS i love intresting in there games

last game i love NFS was undercover good story good online tuning cars etc

here what piss me off about NFS from shift 2 hot pursuit the run etc you got this thing they supposed keep track who plays the game out ur friends so when u toss nfs in dont it says u have no friends that play the game
and also sometime u get a great time for a certain track and the stupid autolog says loss connection or cant connect to autolog

all i have tell ea get rid of the stupid autolog unless u can get it working 90% of the time i be fine but it dont work that often

and i miss having tuning cars if say me and my friend say lets make a ford gt or viper etc and see which one of us can make a better car so we wont have the same car etc i miss that hate lately there no tunign

with that said i dont see NFS worth 60 bucks if you love NFS great but for me i loss intresting in NFS games and i use to buy all them on xbox from most wanted the original carbon ,undercover shift hot pursuit shift 2 pro street the run most wanted remake and now rivials

sorry if this dont make any sense its 514am need go bed cant type cant think and my eyes cant seem to stay open hope someday ea go back to games like undercover again so ill be waiting for racing game driver club and the crew even the crew not really a racing game it is but its not at the same time
