NBA Live 14 News Post

EA Sports posted a new blog today talking about CourtQ, Synergy Sports, ESPN integration and the new Live Season feature.
  • CourtQ is powered by Synergy Sports, the official data service for all 30 teams in the NBA. Every possession of every game is logged with detailed reports on each player which goes well beyond what you see in a box score. Stats are down to small details such as how often a player goes left or right and home vs. away shooting.
  • After each game, Synergy supplies data on more than 70 ratings and tendencies which updates the rosters in the game in real-time. This will result in rosters which dynamically change in the game in a way never before seen in sports games.
  • EA claims CourtQ and Synergy Sports eliminates subjectivity from player ratings and instead the players performance goes solely by the numbers. Plan is to expand and improve CourtQ in future editions.
  • Player appearances will update on the fly as well with no need for scheduled roster updates. Everything from haircuts, to player accessories and gear will be updated throughout the season.
  • Mike Breen and Jeff Van Gundy will man the booth for commentary in NBA Live 14 with Jalen Rose in as the studio host. There will be halftime and post-game shows as well as updates from Rose on what's happening in the real NBA and within the Live 14 community.
  • NBA Live 14 will update every time you boot the game up, meaning you will likely get a fresh new look to the game each time you boot.
What do you think about CourtQ, Connected Experiences, and the ESPN integration?

An update each time you boot up? No scheduled roster update? Players looks get updated (need to see to believe this one)? Maaan....EA you should've just added a bullet that says you don't have 2k insider type in charge of rosters. Watch the sales go up!

Graphics will improve over time, but I have to say I'm impressed by Live so far. As long as the gameplay catches up with these features, watch out 2k.

Im right there with you, I cancelled my live pre order which doesn't mean much since im not into UT. But if I get solid gameplay, I'll be gettin 2 ball games. Which excites me alot!

We keep forgetting that live its building their game for the future, to me that means don't expect a perfect game but expect a good (or great) foundation.

I'd admit, I'm pretty hyped for Live as much as 2K, with this info, the only thing that will make it great is gameplay.

Will we have a weekly roundup show a la ch2k8 , or Rose will only comment on real NBA games? This one I don't understand....

His podcasts are more enjoyable than his TV personality, same with Bill Simmons imo. I'm wondering which version of Jalen will be in the game, I'm going to assume it's not going to be the "don't get fired" version of Jalen Rose. Sounds neat though.

One thing that I'm wondering as far as connected experience/franchise goes, if I start one today, will the player tendencies from courtQ (recently updated as of last night) be reflected from here on out in my franchise/dynasty? Like am I going to expect John Wall to take 8 3 pointers every time I play the Wizards?

The most logical thing would be for CourtQ to account for the actual stats/tendencies from your ongoing dynasty rather than the real nba. If this was in the game then it'd be almost automatically the most dynamic GM mode ever.

But I kinda doubt it, would be neat though.

He is an absolute hack of a commentator and that is what they will be capturing in Live.

His off the cuff stuff on Grantland isn't even that good to me. Not sure what the hype around him his. He is not funny in any regard and everything he says seems so forced. Also his obsessive need to try and coin his own nicknames for players is obnoxious. Like the Iceberg Slim campaign needed to end a year ago and he's still throwing that against the wall.

Exactly how I feel. Thats the only thing EA has ever gotten right, and the fact that the 2kinsider is so incompetent makes EA look even better

If NBA Live gameplay is solid and Association mode is good, I will definitely buy NBA Live over NBA2k when I can afford a PS4. Unfortunately its going ot be while Im afraid before I buy a PS4, but with 2k still having that fool do roster updates is giving EA a chance once again.
