It’s tough to peg when 2K Sports took off with its NBA 2K franchise. Everyone remembers 2K11 which became an instant classic. It touched on every NBA fan out there by adding historic teams through the ages, and of course the one and only Michael Jordan.

But that wasn’t the NBA 2K game that earned the highest grade from Operation Sports. That title belongs to NBA 2K7, just another title in the series, right? Wrong.

Do you still have this game on your shelf? Read on to find out why you should give it a go again for nostalgia purposes.

I was a Live guy who played 2k on occasion up until 2k7. 2k7 was the game that brought me over to the 2k and I never looked back.

So many great memories of this game. I don't think I ever played a demo as much as I played the demo for this game. The signature shots and graphics blew my mind at the time. For me 2k7, 2k3, and 2k11 stand in my mind as the best of the 2ks, 2k13 is close to those ranks due to the improved controls. These games show their age a bit compared to the more recent games but at the time of their release they were top notch and easily the best basketball games available at the time.

2K7 was a great game, but 2K8 was the game I probably spent the most time with, ever. True-to-life gameplay and online lobbies where you could actually communicate with other players were brilliant. I remember having an online record of something like 100+ wins and only a few losses, and I played like the real life teams I was controlling. Fun times, man.

That's back when I would ask in the lobby, "Who wants to play a sim game?", and people would respond saying, "What's sim?". Lol. My how times have changed.

2k8 was just a little better in my opinion.

Just played a bit of 2K9. That's when they started going all the way with animations/interactions (for better or...worse). Nice interaction I had in the game:
