Chris Manning (@LD2K) just posted a new current-gen NBA 2K14 screenshot of Andre Iguodala. For those looking for next-gen information, 2K Sports mentioned that they will start it up later in the month.
I don't think thats it.
We were taking about this subject a couple of weeks ago. My theory, which I don't know is correct or not, is that the teams have copyrighted their specific tint of color.
Someone mentioned a college football team who had given their color a name and copyrighted that specific color scheme and my guess is that its the same here.

There must be like hundred versions of red though. No reason for them to pick pink for the bulls jersey or grey for the Heat's. They had the Heat's jersey right in 2K12 though.

Yeah I don't really understand it and that's the best theory ive got.
It's been the wrong colors since back on the Live games in 90's so there has to be a different reason then them just being lazy or not caring.

It was always stated by someone that the game's lighting engine in 2K always for some reason made everything lighter. I've even tried modifying an accessory color with a dark red, it comes out more like a Crayola colored pencil red rather than a dark red.
2K could've went with a "it looks close to this..." Rather than making the entire engine make EVERY SINGLE COLOR be more lighter than it should. (Whites are the closest things to their Real Life look, WHEN YOU MODIFY IT and apply a Padded Sleeve.)
While it's an underwhelming pic in terms of a graphically maxed out current gen, I look at it as a 'Wow, this game has graphically come a looong way since that ugly atrocity of a 2K8'. I virtually couldn't play that one cuz the players were so off with player likenessess it took me out of the game mentally. Not to mention, so did isomotion. That NBA 2K collected the most dust out of them all that I ever owned.
All i can say is if these off colored jerseys make it in to next gen I will be very upset. Its rediculous that pertty much every screenshot released you can find jerseys not having correct colors, 2k seems to think that any kind of blue or red will do and thats not cool.
Show me Chandler Parsons because he looks like an alien for the last 2 years
Probably won't show him because nothing has been done to him if footage shown to this point of rockets is representative of what he will look like in the final version. Same with KD35, Tyson, and a few others. 2k did not rest on all models as you can see some players like cole, shumpert, manu, bellineli have been touched up..Let's hope 2k has a few new face scans up their sleeve for current gen final copy
I'd imagine the NBA is providing 2K with hex codes of the team's colors, and they're probably using them verbatim. But once you factor in the game's lighting, etc - plus the various hardware customers are running and displaying it on - it probably turns into a mess.
Yeah I think that's one thing that a lot of people don't take into account. I think the bad colors have more to do with the game's lighting engine. They even look a bit better in blacktop mode than they do in any other mode. They still seem to be a bit off but I think that's the biggest issue.
