NBA Live 14 News Post

Dime Magazine has posted an interview with NBA Live 14 Gameplay Designer Scott O’Gallagher, Senior Designer Ryan Santos and Producer Ryan Ferwerda. Below are some of the interesting tidbits of information, but make sure you read the entire article here.

Quote:
While they realize their competition has owned the market share for the past three years in basketball video games — likening them to the 96’ Bulls — the guys behind this game know that there are Live players out there and players that prefer games by EA Sports.
  • The goal is to make it exactly like the real NBA everyday and keep that updated and refreshed throughout the season. So everyday you turn the game on, you’re going to get the most authentic, up-to-date experience.
  • Every time that you turn it on, if there’s new shoes that drop, there’s new player updates that drop or AI with Synergy Sports, you’re going to get that stuff within the hour in some cases.
  • Synergy Sports is the No. 1 data driven and analytic tool that all 30 NBA teams are using. So basically, in this case for like Damian Lillard, we know how many isos he’s been in all year (and much, much more, read the entire interview)
Once again, there is quite a bit of information in the interview and we recommend you give it a read. Everything "sounds" good so far. Just looking forward to seeing some 5 on 5 gameplay later this summer.

Definitely a nice read after the drought of news around here. Seems like the Live team is confident in their product and they're really aiming for authenticity and replicating the NBA.

I see no signs of a cancelled product, so here's hoping for some positive gameplay videos.

That article made the Sim hair on my neck stand up. LOL. I do think it's important to remember that they compared themselves to the Cavs' a young and up an coming dev team so don't expect flawless perfection this year. They are still going to have some things they don't do well this year.

But what they will have is sounding NOICE!

Worst case Live will help push 2K. Best case we'll have twi great titles to pick from. EA is talking pretty, can't wait to see what they bring to the table

That pic in the OP has gotta be next-gen, if it's actual gameplay like it says

If it ain't, then

Much like you guys, I'm cautiously optimistic about the game. May take the risk on it for the PS4 this year.

These interviews are nice, but gameplay is needed. Not trailers, but gameplay. The producers of NBA LIVE has done a lot of talking about there past games. Elite was pulled, the next year it was pulled, and the third year, they didn't even make an attempt. So forgive me for not getting to excited. Show gameplay, no more bounce tech demos or cgi (I think that's right) trailers.

I would actually disagree. This year it is the least hype they have had. To me they seem humble, they have acknowledged that 2k has been dominate, That they have been less that stellar, That they have to earn back their followers, and that it's not likely to happen in the next year or two.

This is diametrically opposed to Hockey dude and his arrogant approach with elite 11.

At a basic point they have to have SOME confidence in what they are doing or why would be bother buying the game. LOL.

They are basically saying 2k has got it now. But we got next. LOL I can dig that.

Gotta agree, with the PREZ, ea sports, NBA LIVE is a little bit to humble, and it's understandable, but it is time, for LIVE 14 to show the community something, that KYRIE CLIP, is not enough, they need to show hardcore information, only 2 months left, SMDH

If we get past mid september without showing something, then I'd say that we have a little more reason for concern. But we're still further than 2 months out. 2k can't show anything to steal the thunder from Current Gen, which they still want/need sales for. Live has no reason to show anything yet either. None. Once 2k starts showing, if Live doesn't, then worry. But for the time being, 2k hasn't shown anything next gen, they have no reason to.

Keep calm fellas, keep calm.

The word from 2K is next gen announcements starting in late September..... so based on the above (which I totally agree on), we'll be lucky to see ANY Live footage before then.... Live has more reason to play the cards close to the chest aswell....

I am DYING to see some 5 on 5 gameplay. I will know 2 minutes into it whether I will be buy the game or not.....

NO IDEA what to expect either.... I wonder what the models will look like, how they will move, player interaction/contact, rim/net physics, court looks, jersey looks, arena sounds!?!?! Too much to wonder!!! And we have a whole month (most likely)!!

........ there are no words......

I'm a 2k fan but I freaking miss live's presentation and UI design. Live 10 almost had me so if they have something like that and great game modes (Dynasty, MyPlayer), then I'm sold.

I'd say its a safe bet that next gen sports info will be coming in waves by the beginning of October. So we are looking at a month. 1 more month. If we get to October and EA doesn't wanna talk about Live then I will be worried. Until then I just hope we get surprised with something.
