NBA 2K14 News Post

November 15 can’t get here soon enough. Next-gen NBA 2K14 is one of the most highly-anticipated games I’ve ever been dying to get my hands on. But technically October 1 is our first taste of 2K14, and we just got a new current-gen trailer to show you. Let’s check out the new trailer together for the first time.

00:13 – I promise (to win not one, not two, not three…).
00:15 – Welcome back, King.
00:21 – Enter the NBA2K14 official logo followed by LeBron breaking away from the Clippers and enjoying one of his signature slams. Looks a tad bit smoother than NBA2K13. Nice flick of the wrist when he puts it down.
00:23 – And now LeBron is celebrating in front of Russell Westbrook. Welcome back from your injury, Russell!
00:24 – And who is the next player showcased in the trailer?! Terrance Ross from the Toronto Raptors! Yes, the 2013 NBA Slam Dunk Contest Champion rightfully deserves the showcase before the likes of Durant, Kobe, Dwight or James Harden.
00:26 – Oh, there you are Mr. Harden. Nice, quick pull-up jumper over Iman Shumpert as the shot clock expires. Followed by his signature three-ball celebration. I spot a certain cry baby center in the background…
00:30 – Nice! Rondo looks absolutely awesome in this shot. So does Brad Stevens. I can’t tell who’s more excited – and enter KELLY OLYNYK and his awkward-awesome-gazelle looking self. I’m more excited. Did I mention Westbrook is getting beat in this shot, too? Zombies getting some hate.
00:35 – So that’s why the Bobcats are paying him $41 million over the next three years.
00:36 – Rubio is back! That was a heckuva pass to Budinger in the corner. Now rewind, set in slow motion, and watch at Rubio’s eyes. He’s actually looking at Budinger before he passes it, even with all of his momentum moving forward. HE’S LOOKING AT HIM.
00:38 – Awesome dunk, but that doesn’t really look much like Blake Griffin. Nice to see a Valanciunas model, though.
00:40 – Ladies and gentleman, your new-look Nets. And another OLYNYK SIGHTING!
00:46 – It only took half the trailer, but here’s your first look at Dwight in Houston. Pau is attempting to block the dunk crazy late.
00:52 – And here we have Ken Bazemore with some sick sideline celebrations after an Iguodala dunk. I’m diggin’ it.
00:53 – Look at the new Piston Josh Smith fly! Very nice block on Granger. Very nice.
00:57 – Another nice block. This time, Howard on top of Curry.
01:00 – Jerryd Bayless makes a nice diving save to keep possession, even shows a close-up. Then of course the ref makes the wrong call, leaving Bayless vividly upset. Nice touch.
01:05 – Welcome to the NBA, Anthony Bennett. He’s showing off some damn good ball handling skills.
01:09 – Is it just me, or does the entire Cavs team quit pursuing Lee before he actually dunks the ball?
01:11 – OLYNYK!
01:13 – OK, now that looks a lot more like Griffin.
01:14 – And as in real life, it took way too long for Derrick Rose to show up. Can’t wait to see him finally play ball.
01:18 – Kobe with a sick fadeaway over Eric Bledsoe in the new Phoenix jerseys. The jerseys may not look like much, but the back sides in the trailed look pretty cool to me.
01:26 – C’mon, that almost looks real.
01:30 – Hell yeah.

We have also uploaded 92 screens from the trailer which you can view here.

Oh no did rondo actually do THAT layup animation? The layup animation that has caused me toss my controller more times than any other animation

That is the most frustrating animation in 2k history. I am very disappointed

HD shoes finally! I think I was more impressed with the signature stuff. That 360 layup by Ellis was signature sickness. I like how they sprinkled in a recap of the playoffs to finals to all the player movement

Iggy, Ellis, Jennings, Dwight, KG, Pierce, Josh Smith, World Peace all shown on new teams. The only team they probably missed was the Pelicans with Tyreke and Holiday.

Would've been nice to see their new court and jersey's in action...

A little hard for me to get excited about a video showing the SAME OFF COLORS and the SAME OFF ACCESSORIES. How hard is it, folks? I mean seriously. Watch a game or two. When do the Celtics wear black accessories at home? When do they wear white on the road? I can ask that same question about SEVERAL teams. Teams that they manage to get wrong every single year! Why do they think the Knicks blue unis are acceptable? Bulls, Rockets, Raptors, and Cavs are STILL wearing pink! Heat and Spurs? Still in gun barrel gray. We can't just come up with an excuse like, "oh, well it's their last game on current gen." Not when they've done this for years. They just won't listen to us. Hope it's better on PS4, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm not really into NBA Live, but maybe it will put a little fear in 2K and make them step it up a bit. If they still won't fix little things like colors and accessories for us, I shudder to think what they didn't do in Association Mode...

Did I just watch a new trailer for 2k13?

Sorry, hate to say it, but I'm not impressed.

Hopefully the demo will get me more enthused.

I mean It looks good, but one thing I never liked about NBA 2k is the arms... they look griddy and the elbows look horrible, but hey overall looks pretty good

Did people expect the game to look completly different? It's the end of current gen, graphics are maxed out...

Was not a very good hype trailer imo. Nothing that 2k can really do at this point on current gen graphically that can really make our jaws hit the floor-This is there 9th title on 360 hardware and it's probably a tad unrealistic to expect to be wowed at this point. Ofcourse it's not as good looking as what's coming later to next gen but imo the game is far from ugly. Only thing I want for them to do is fix gameplay and give new faces to those that need them at this point-Looks like they didn't go all out with the latter. Disappointed with some of the faces but still looking forward to playing it on 360..

Look at KG when he dunks! ANTA shoes are in the game!

i can tell you with 100% certainty that the knicks blue is http://www.colorhexa.com/007ac1 and that's fairly close to what it looks like in this screenshot (i've seen the knicks style guide first hand). the problem, i think, is that in photos the jerseys look darker 'cause they are color corrected photos. also, you've got to factor in some difference in color from the jersey factory.

I'm indifferent on this trailer. I saw a few things I liked but the overall lack of information this year compared to others has made me less excited to get the game. I would have liked to see Curry shoot to see if he has a new signature shot in 2K14. Wasn't too much of a fan of the one he had in 2K13. What did get me hype was Bazemore's bench celebrations. A nice small added touch.

I agree you either buy it new/used and think it is worth the price, or just wait it out and buy Next gen if only those graphics will satisfy you. This thing will sell the most on current gen though. They sold like 5 million on current gen and I believe 4million was on PS3/XBOX.

That's an excuse for when people want stuff enhanced like crowds, HD-everything, like shoes and all, but this is jerseys and colors, a simple recolor/re adjusting a hex color code in the roster that makes so much of a difference. I get that 2K follows Style guides but look at MLB, im sure both of those followed the guides but we all know which jerseys looked better.

My man those shoes don't look HD to me. Shoes are hit and miss with 2k some look better recreated than others IMO

Looks like 2k13 with an updated roster, a few new shoes (that will undoubtedly not be assigned to players, but defaults instead), and some new animations. This has me disappointed.

Sure, blocked dunks are a needed addition, but I feel it'll be overpowered initially, with guys like Dwight and Larry Sanders blocking EVERYTHING near them. n

And graphically it looks the same. It didn't need to be an overwhelming change, but I expected WAY more cyberfaces to be updated, as well as a general polish added to the models and shoes. Instead it looks like 90% of what was in 2k13 graphically was taken to current-gen 2k14, with only cyberface changes to guys who fans made it known needed to be changed.

I'll definitely give the demo a look though, because I'm not sure whether I'm going the next-gen or current gen direction, and I do know that 2k14 will be solid. I just feel the current gen product has declined since 2k11, and right now I don't get the feeling it'll be any different. Right now though I need to see what they're offering for next-gen.

Like a lot of people have already said looks essentially just like 2k13 with an updated roster, which honestly with yearly games you come to expect, so no big deal, but just a few little changes would have been nice, especially with updating accessories a bit, looks like unless I missed it they still haven't added in the tights that pretty much every other players wears now. Just little simple add ins and changes that would have improved on 2k13.

Some of the fancy pass animations were in the game already. I believe you can choose to do a flashy pass in 2k14, as in LT+pass performs a no-look pass.

If I was designing the game, I would make that pass less likely to be stolen, but more likely to be bobbled by your teammate. Who knows how they will implement it, though.

As much as I want to get hype for this trailer, I just can't. Not to the fault of 2k but because of how close to the release of next-gen we are. I have my Launch day PS4 paid for in full and I know the release date of it. I'm just ready for next gen and I'm patiently waiting (unbearably) for news on NBA 2k14 on the PS4. I understand that they're trying to get in the sales for the game on 10/1 but to be honest that is not the game or date looking at. Especially since, GTA 5 will be in my console for all of September and October is when GTA Online is live. NBA 2k14 is not a game I'm thinking about till 11/15 or when they start giving us actual in depth information next-gen NBA 2k14. I'm pretty sure there are a lot more people who feel the same as well. Cool trailer but that all it is to me, cool. I'm definitely ready for more than a quote and pre-alpha trailer from June.
