So, so, so very disappointed in Path To Greatness. They should have made it a greatest moments mode like they did with Jordan. So what, we're predicting the future of LeBron now? Unless they throw a big surprise into this mode I will definitely be skipping it.
We only now a tidbit. There's another impression article that says it's also older games.
Pretty disappointed really. I was hoping for improvements in My Career/Player. Path to Greatness mode doesn't entice me at all because I don't like LeBron much at all and I think the gameplay and controls are fine in 2k13. I also don't care at all about Crew Mode. Looks like I may skip this year or at least get it quite a bit later than launch date
There's nothing pointing to that mycareer HASN'T been improved. They haven't even started talking about that mode.

As Kyoto mentioned, there's another article out there suggesting it may have to do with LeBron's past and his future - perhaps starting as a young James, working up to modern day, then blazing a trail through the next couple of years that'll have him finishing up as the greatest of all-time. I still have hope. Here's the link to the precise thread: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...stem-more.html
I'm a bit disappointed MyCareer is the same ol' rookie showcase. I was hoping for some more realistic things like a draft combine and summer league. I'm also disappointed since the voices are the same. Hopefully there will be more voices in the Next Gen when there is more disc space.
Lots of awesome details are emerging. Everything is looking swell. I am worried about the controls; I hope there are still "casual" control options for those who are gaming challenged (such as myself)
The Google translations provide real gems sometimes. Here is my favorite of this article:
Quote:
It told the developer that the purpose of NBA 2K14 is actually the same as for NBA 2K13: the ambition to further screwing the fans and thus amaze again.

Really hoping that this ends up being true. Would love to play some important games of LeBrons career thus far. Would be very impressive if they had some old Cleveland games as settled as Miami with each game having the corresponding correct player model for LeBron just how the various Chicago Bulls classic teams featured different player models for Jordan. Example 2006 first carrer playoff game against the Wizards tripple double. 2007 Eastern Conference Finals 48 points against the Detroit Pistons. Any of the games against Orlando in the Eastern Conference Finals in 2009. Shutting down Derrick Rose in the 2011 Eastern Conference Finals. The 40 and 18 against the Pacers in the 2012 Eastern Semi Finals. Obviously the 45 15 and 5 Game 6 at Boston in the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals. Game 7 in the 2013 NBA Finals.
I hope that those created player that appears from the second year of Association (i call their, THE DROIDS) have a real skin and not a plastic skin. Have reasonable customs, and not mustaches as a 80's plaer or absurd haistyle like a gangsta.
I hope a really improve in the simulation of the other games in a Asso, for not seeking something like the Charlotte Bobcats in the Nba Finals (happenz to me in NBA2K13) and the Miami Heat not qualyifing in the playoff (happenz to me).
I have played 33 seasons and won 16 title from NBA2K9 to NBA2K13 and after winning the tile there's not a proporzionated celebration. Winning a NBA TITLE is a long long way, and so when you win the title you dont want only few minutes of celebrations with a robotic David Stern that bring the Larry O'Brien Trophy. I want more celebrations, the interviews with the players, a city parade and, in the first home game of the next season, the ring ceremony with the banner on the roof!
I hope the comments about MyCareer/MyPlayer being the same, because there is still a lot of room for improvement in this mode.
One of the big things is being able to start higher than the low 60's OVR.
I have a feeling this won't happen though, because with the introduction to the "pay to win" model, their focus is to get you to buy VC, as opposed to giving you both a higher starting ranking and an adequate amount of VC for game performances.

You do know you can earn VC too? The mode is about building up a character, not paying to get the best player as soon as possible. You never HAVE to buy VC.
Alright guys this is WAY out there. Talking with my brother about what something that could be next gen or just a crazy feature that would blow my mind. Get this...
Imagine you could start a myPlayer in any era or season in the league? Get drafted in '84 with Jordan and Hakeem and then play your career from that point on. Get drafted in the '03 draft class. There would have to be a database of almost every player who played (that's where it gets crazy impossible) but year after year you would have the correct draft classes of players coming into the league. Imagine if you could do the same thing with an Association? Start an association the Magic in '92 when they draft Shaq and see how the years play out. Each draft would be the correct players coming into the league (I think this Manu Ginobili kid could be good!) but it would still be random. Or do a fantasy draft in '86 and shuffle the players/teams around.
How f'ing cool would that be! Will it happen? No. Never, but it had be thinking about what could happen in 5 years or so. NEW FOR 2K20!!!

Greatest of all-time eh? Only in a video game because it ain't happening in real life. Greatest SF of all time I'd say though, not bad to be best at your position all time and all time NBA starting 5. Not trying to start an argument in this thread lol just saying that mode sounds cheesy if 2k is trying to project him as the best ever.
Sounds like no improvement to MyCareer...lame 2k. People have been clamoring for the return of summer league at the very least, and more realism. If it really starts off with the rookie showcase again with minor gameplay improvements this will be sad. Path to Greatness sounds lame. I thought it was going to a be Jordan-like mode where you relive some of LeBron's greatest games.
Glad EA is coming back this year, because 2k NEEDS the competition.
I hope the next gen version blows me away, because 2k14 is sounding like more of a patch than a new game so far.
Will there be a pass fake BUTTON?! If controls are responsive, then there's got to be a way to fake a pass. If it was bound to a button then I think I'd have a lot less turnovers in MyCareer. That double-tap crap is not the joint.
Also, I wish they put some kind of pre-qualifying test before the MyCareer mode. Your Potential and starting OVR should be determined by what you do before the draft.
Maybe 2k will update a few more things in mycareer and in assoc. before the game releases. They still have a month left in the development cycle. I don't get why 2k barely releases any information in late August for the game and it's a month and a half away. EA releases more information on Madden 4 months before the game releases than 2k does in a month and a half before the game releases. 2k does the same thing every year with this. Just tell us about "path to greatness" already smh
