All of this sounds great--but personally, I'm waiting for info on Path to Greatness mode.

Obviously that will come--as of this writing, we have six weeks to release--but man, 2K and Visual Concepts have earned my trust.

Already got my preorder card right here. Bring it on, October 1.

Dynamic Living Rosters® powered by Stats, Inc. - Player attributes and tendencies automatically update daily to reflect true life hot and cold streaks. Now, each game played in the NBA can have an effect on your game.

Huge! Thank you 2K, I have been asking for this type of roster update system for years, finally no more 2k Insider!!!!. Now hopefully the teams and players will truly play like there real life counter parts are currently playing during the season and will reflect how teams and players change during the season. Im officially hyped now, big ups for this one 2k.

I love how the rosters are no longer just Living Rosters, but Dynamic Living Rosters.

The old rosters weren't always so "Living" or dynamic. They were rather lethargic, an sometimes looked to be on life support.

I really hope the Dynamic Living Rosters don't just dynamically update ratings and streaks but rotations, minutes, injuries, suspensions, and trades.

Being able to take your hot team online or trying to take advantage of current storylines and trends in the NBA would fantastic.

I'm guessing this will drive the MyTeam market too.

I have a question about the dynamic rosters.

If they work the way we all hope them to work it will be amazing! Players will hang around the areas of the court they are meant to, they will take the kinds of shots they are meant to!

My question is, because the system is powered by Stats Inc, and only about 12 teams have Stats Inc cameras in their buildings, does that mean team who are not working with Stats Inc will only have living rosters based on games in a Stats Inc building.

For example the Celtics DO have Stats Inc in the Garden. Great, so they gather data every home game and that will be applied to NBA 2k14.

The Denver Nuggets DO NOT have a partnership with Stats Inc (so far as I know), so will the nuggets players' rating only deviate when they play a game in a building WITH Stats Inc. Ie when they play the celtics?

This does seem like the best addition I could ask for (NO MORE 2K INSIDER with his 2 changes per month!), but I'm just curious as how it will work!

What I'm hoping for is that the whole dynamic rosters thing is more about tendencies than ratings honestly. I just don't see how a player shooting bad for a week should mean he's now less skilled at playing basketball in general translating into reduced ratings in the game. I hope they're not going overboard with this. Especially with sig skills being overpowered to a ridiculous degree already ( just look at the rating boosts by the "closer" skill, it has nothing to do with reality at all ), I hope we won't see more of overly exaggerated tries to translate those common myths about basketball ("They wanted to win more", "Elevating his game", "Stepping up") into rating adjustments.

If a player shows constant improvement or regression and the stats prove this, it's great to have updates during the season. But should streaks ( talking about rather short stretches of performances different form the averages you'd expect from the player) have an impact on ratings? I don't think so.

Here's a link to their site so you can see what they track. Hopefully it's implemented well

I assume since no one officially affiliated with 2K has said otherwise, this actually does mean no more 2K Insider (although I've been saying for a while that we should be able to play online unranked with edited rosters if both players agree, but that's another story and I understand that might be hard/tricky to implement).

Anyway, I don't wanna be that guy, but I feel like this new Stats Inc system isn't guaranteed to be something that works as well as people are hoping. It's one thing to track a team/individual's statistics, tendencies, skills, style, etc., and it's another thing to properly implement it into the game.

Like, say Kevin Durant starts handling the ball more and Westbrook handles it less. Would the system be smart enough to increase Durant's Touches tendency and/or lower Westbrook's, as well as maybe giving Durant a higher Pick-and-Roll Ballhandler/Isolation tendency depending on what he's doing?

All in all, I'm just hoping that all changes aren't simply tied to one tendency or one rating or one signature skill (speaking of which, I hope to God we can remove a skill from a player this year). A whole bunch of different tendencies (for the entire team, much less one player) factor in to how the team plays, even if their play style only changes slightly. It might be hard for a computer (I assume that they won't be updated manually on a daily basis) to realize this.

But it'd still be better than the 2K Insider.

The STATS dynamic living rosters could be great depending on how implemented. I think the opening day rosters should reflect last year tendencies well. I am interested in how they update daily. Say example Curry goes 0-4 one night from 3 how much that justifies a drop on rating the next day? I guess they could change consistency I mean he didn't just forget how to shoot. Flip the coin say Westbrook goes 3-6 from three does he go to a 80+ three rating? Some of this can really effect when you start an association. It could be a hot and cold effect but I think someone at 2k will determine the implementation STATS will give them what they asked for

Updating roster everyday sounds like it's too much to me.

It's coz it is 2k, it will not work, you can count on it. Same as half of other stuff, just like every year.

But hey, there a lebron path to greatness aka that MJ mode from couple of years back.

# 194 Goffs @ 08/16/13 08:27 AM
Didn't LD2k say that they had a "productive" talk with 2k Insider? I'm guessing he's still doing the damn roster update and just uses a different site....

Like I said in an earlier post I'll believe it when I see it....

I've looked up what Stats.Inc is providing, and the most important features are in depth breakdowns of stuff like spacing, touches players are getting in specific spots of the court and so on. So more tendency and strategy stuff. Pretty cool.
For ratings, bballreference or even just the basic shot locations on hoopdata are more than enough if the "insider" knew what he's doing. I mean you still have to watch the games. But you need someone who knows a bit about basketball for that. Still don't know whether rosters are updated by one "insider" or a "team". Ld2k has said both things, that's a bit confusing to me.

So I'm taking it you're not buying the game this year.

I'm liking what i've read so far as the gameplay improvements, but really, my purchase, as ever will be based on the classic teams. If they've removed any or watered it down even more since 2k13 then it's a no no.

100% agree. I don't think I played a single game with current rosters in 2k13. All signs point to no classics. The LBJ mode (all modern teams), euroteams, MJ's contract expiring with no word on it being renewed (gotta think that would be news). I don't have much faith in classic teams being in this season.

Additions and gameplay improvements sound great and I love the idea of crew but for the first time ever...2k will not be a 1st day must buy game for me.

# 199 Vni @ 08/16/13 10:22 AM
Classic teams are in 2K14.

# 200 Goffs @ 08/16/13 10:30 AM
Should be good couple of weeks...I hope they give us more info on the dynamic roster updates...I'm really curious if 2k Insider is still in charge of the rosters...
