Havok’s Leading Middleware Technology to Power KONAMI’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2014

Pro Evolution Soccer Franchise Uses Havok’s Physics, Animation Studio and Cloth Technologies to Enhance Soccer Gameplay Experience

Havok™, a leading provider of 3D interactive game development technology, today announced that it is working with Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. to provide advanced physics, animation and cloth simulation technologies to deliver a true-to-life and graphically advanced soccer experience for all the players of Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) 2014, the highly-anticipated new entry in the 82.3-million-selling soccer franchise.

“Player movements and physics are key components of a lively game, so it’s a true honor for Havok to power these elements in Konami’s incredible PES 2014,”said Arnaud Saint-Martin, Asia Regional Director at Havok. “The Pro Evolution Soccer team has been dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in a football game, and in these years, Havok has worked with this talented team to integrate Havok’s technology to help take the realism of PES even further. We think football fans will appreciate how Havok technology will blur the line between the sport and simulation, and provide a football experience that looks as real as can be.”

The product of several years of collaboration between Havok and Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., PES 2014 offers advanced Havok Physics, Havok Animation Studio and Havok Cloth technology, for a comprehensive simulation of each on-field player. Each player’s intricate movements are naturally represented according to the individual players’ mass and physique, and each uniform reacts realistically according to the players’ moves and speed.

"Pro Evolution Soccer needless to say is a leading sports franchise played worldwide," said Tadahiro Manmoto, Asia Developers Relation Manager at Havok. "It is really an honor that PES 2014 integrated Havok technologies to bring even more advanced experiences to football fans all over the world. I'm confident players will be excited by more realistic representation of players in the field. We are so proud that Havok technologies and dedicated support helped make it possible."

Havok is also used in many other games, including Halo 4, Assassin’s Creed III, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Guild Wars 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Skylanders Giants and Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour.

Really? Come off it. Ppl and their nonsense PC talk. Many of us know that if u want to invest a ton of money into building/purchasing a high end PC gaming rig, you'll get way better performance out of PC versions of the same console game. This is not what this is about so get over yourself with your high and mighty, condescending bull. Love ppl like u who are so insecure that unnecessarily like putting down others to build themselves up.

I think he's just excited for the game to come out, and (as a pc user too) I am frustrated with how many games are not focusing on the current gen and moving sports games away from the pc.

Just an awful post bro. Apart from the rudeness and the projecting going on here, you completely missed Profit's point. Everything we've seen so far on these supposed next-gen systems looks inferior to what Konami is revealing for the PC and current-gen consoles. That's what Profit was pointing out and he's spot on with his observations.

Really, bro? Are u referring to this game being released on next gen consoles because as far as we know, nothing's been announced regarding this game for next gen. Matter of fact, they're skipping next gen with PES 2014 and nothing has been shown for anything next gen regarding this soccer console. If I'm off base, let me know, ok?

ha definitely .. one thing I loved about the comments is that the physics will be applied to the uniforms also. In Madden/NCAA the uniform never moves. I know football players usually have tight uniforms, but they look terrible and hurt the realism of the game.

With the physics and the user kits, these should be some great looking uniforms in game.

That is exactly what he is saying. Everyone seems to be thinking that the next gen sports titles are going to be so good but PES on the PC/Current Gen is going to be better then any next gen title.

Let's put it this way: Given what's been shown so far by Konami on current-gen (PES 2014) and by EA on next-gen (FIFA, Madden), PES clearly appears to be superior. Now, will Konami get their act together and finally release a playable PES game, one that will in fact be better than those next-gen offerings by EA? That's the question. Everything they've shown so far looks good and sounds great, but it's mostly just hype at this point. That said, the animations, the pace, and general ball movement in the User-CPU gameplay videos does look fantastic, absolutely.

I'm saying when comparing all the info that has been presented so far, PES on current-gen IMO looks superior to anything EA will be releasing on PS4 or Xbox One (FIFA, Madden). Granted, we have no way of knowing if Konami has actually fixed the AI in their game. Nor have we seen anything from EA other than heavily edited marketing videos. So in truth the jury is still out.

Guys, let's drop the PC /console discussion. That belongs somewhere else.

# 14 fearwhatnow @ 07/23/13 05:57 AM
The base of the "problem" is that many gamers strongly believe that the "next-gen" will be a great leap ahead in terms of graphics, gameplay etc. Yes, consoles will finally benefit from higher resolutions and current gen console-only owners will see the difference in graphics...and that's it. Don't expect miracles and revolutionary changes immediately. Mark these words. You'll see how EA will treat Fifa 14 next-gen..
In conclusion, PES 14 wil be a next-gen title for pc users with good gaming machines. Why? It's simple: New Engine, Havoc, new gameplay. All these without hardware limitations.

Plenty of info/videos have been released outlining/showing the simulaton gameplay, so there goes that argument.
