Madden NFL 25 News Post

Shopmaster has written another quick hit article on running the read option in Madden NFL 25.

Quote:
What happens if you come out in a Pistol Weak Triple Option (yea, it’s in there)? So now not only do you have to read the ‘Dive Read Defender’ which has a ‘R’ over him but you’ll also have to read the ‘Pitch Key Defender’ that will have a ‘P’ over his head and this could be a OLB, a Safety or a DB depending on the defensive formation called. You still read the play the same. If you snap the ball and that ‘Dive Read Defender’ crashes in for the RB, you want to keep it and in the Triple option you’ll have another guy running with you. This is when you want to read the ‘Pitch Key Defender’. If the ‘Pitch Key Defender’ runs toward the QB, you want to pitch the ball to the RB with the ‘LB’ button for XBOX or ‘L1′ button for Playstation.

If you read ‘Dive Read Defender’ or the ‘Pitch Key Defender’ wrong, it will probably result in a negative play and could get your QB creamed and more importantly hurt.

On the one hand, it does sound a bit dumbed down/casual with the R/P icons, on the other hand, reads often didn't seem to work at all in previous versions so if this makes the Option workable, I'm all for it. Can't wait to turn the Jets into a Triple Option steamroller offense

I'm hoping we can turn this "aid" off

ND I do believe you can as it was already talked about in NCAA 14. There's an option to disable all aids.

I had the Redskins in one of my 32 player online franchises last year, and let me tell you I gave so many people headaches with RGIII and company. One year RGIII had 4200 pass yards, 39 TD's, 13 INT's, and a 120 QBR, ALONG with 1200 rush yards, 15 TD's, 9 YPC......and 13 fumbles...Fumbles weren't much of a problem when I got his carry up to 90 though. But that was after I got him to 99 DAC, 99 MAC, and 97 SAC. I also got his speed up to 95.

Absolute beast, probably the most fun I have had with any team in Madden. However, Roy Helu was my starter, and he even had 1000 yards one year too. Morris got in the game some too, but mainly on short yardage, and in the 4th QTR when I was trying to kill clock, because Helu tends to fumble. Too make my O even more deadly I traded for FB Dorin Dickerson and his 90 speed, most people tend to not pay much attention to FB's, and he was a beast out of the backfield.

Im all for *teaching tools: they allow for more implementation of sound football fundamentals.

EA, keep teaching casusls how to fish instead of sinking our ships with your mother load helpings.

*I expect to see a use option.

did it get taken down?

I like it, mainly because there are many types of zone reads, power reads, etc... and it shows that aspect that you aren't always reading the same guy depending on the play. I think Chip Kelly's playbook could be kind of fun to play around with on Madded 25.

Well, in my experience the AI wouldnt recognize the QB when until he was well past the LOS and even then they took all the wrong angels to get to him resulting in more than what he should of got to begin with!

Might have to set my defense up in ways im not to familiar with in order to contain such a play. But I hope the AI and pursuit angles are truly corrected like they have said!

It seems that their site is down. Must be having host issues, or something.

Has it been said whether or not we will be able to disable these aids? I don't need to be taught how to key these reads. And that's half of the fun of playing these offenses... I want to do that on my own. I want to read the play.

Teaching these concepts is great. But you only need the training wheels for so long.

I just hope I find out what the frickin pitch button is!

In real life NFL teams are probably going to be destroying the QB after he pitches this season to get teams to stop running read options (heard on ESPN and radio shows) but I bet on Madden you wont be able to do that. After the QB pitches it or hands off you cant touch him.

I would usually agree with you until Andrew Luck tore his ACL on the first play from scrimmage when he was tackled by DRC. I was pissed.

I am really looking forward to Owner Mode the most. This option stuff is cool and kudos to the dev team but running with the Colts I run a pro offense. Now I have contemplated changing schemes because of how malleable that OL is but with no speed in the backfield I just run it like usual. Interested to see Hamilton's west coast in the NFL

While playing Defensive End in High School, that is what my coach told me to do. It messes with the qb's mind and makes them think twice about pitching it. I would love to see this in madden (along with explosive blocks leaving a defender knocked down) but this type of stuff is frowned upon.

He's probably referring to Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (otherwise referred to as "Doesn't Really Care")

There better an option to set the DE or a LB to attack just the qb vs option plays.

if you've been around college football this article is pointless bcuz I know how to play option football and how to make proper reads. This would explain all the idiots on Madden 13 who run read option and continually keep it with their QB regardless of the read

The problem is that in reality, you know who the designed read on the play is, in Madden I don't always have that luxury because the CPU assigns the blocks and determines the reads by some logic I don't know.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a lot of what SF and Carolina do more of the inverted veer?

Carolina I know does both, I can't really comment on SF.
