Aside from being horribly worded, I really don't like the sound of this.

i just wish that some if not all these features were implemented in their AMERICAN football games...here's hoping on next gen!

  • Navigate the intricacies of ball possession, mastered by FC Barcelona, which dictates the tempo of the match with the Protect the Ball gameplay feature - I hope this is for the AI and applied realistically to the teams who tend to dominate possession.
  • Fend off and block opponents from the ball while running at any speed, countering defensive pulling by stepping in front of the defender and using your body to shield the ball and stepping into the opposition to maintain possession and make a pass - This sounds horrible IMO. If you're in an all-out spring your ability to be knocked off the ball should be increased and determined by a combination of the attacker's strength rating vs the defender's strength rating. I do like the "stepping into" part. The physicality/shielding is really missing in soccer games.
  • Fight for position prior to receiving the ball, so you are in the optimal location at the opportune moment - Same with "stepping into" comment. This is a welcome addition.
  • Move in any direction to preserve your natural momentum and utilize quick, explosive cuts and turns to beat defenders one-on-one while sprinting with the Sprint Dribble Turns feature - This could be dangerous as agility is already over-powered.
  • Show your dribbling with optimal touch and control that minimizes opportunities for defenders to regain possession with Variable Dribble Touches - I'm curious to see how this is implemented
  • Combine different types of tackles, recover from missed tackles quickly and have another opportunity to compete for the ball in any tackling situation with Second Chance Tackles - Sounds good
  • Come together as a team with improved teammate intelligence that delivers tighter, smarter marking and better run tracking - Hopefully the default pressure around the box will be tuned accordingly and defenders will mark ST's like they do in real life when they get into dangerous scoring positions
  • Rely on your defenders to recognize opportunities to improve support and win back possessions, and depend on attacking players to break down intelligent defenses by creating space, running along the back line and checking their pace - I guess this means that if you're playing defense off-the-ball the CPU defenders will actually make tackles this year. If so, that sounds good.
  • Learn and master the fundamental skills needed to be a star football player in Skill Games, a competitive practice mode helps you become a better player, faster - I enjoyed the skill games in FIFA 13. Happy to see they expanded 'em

I just hope the game is more balanced than 13. Attacking Intelligence ruined single-player for me. FIFA 12 was a giant step in the right direction, but 13 felt way out of whack. They threw in First-Touch, but the attacking "improvements" made that seem like nothing. If the marking is better. and the defense actually forces the CPU back more, I will be happy. Fouls would be nice too.

Seriously, so many features again, on gameplay. I mean - it's like EA Sports want to turn FIFA what MORAD is to golf.



Seriously. Stop breaking down the intricacies of the beautiful game, and just let the gameplay flow. It's like they hope that we can name off each feature every time we see it. So instead of when a defender shimmy the ball for a goal kick - that's called a Positional Preventing Corner Kick Allowance Utilization feature or some crap.

Just let the boys play, EA. Name the stuff later for the Little Things Thread - stop disgracing the game by giving it all away and over-extending the feature blast every year.

btw: I could name all the features of FIFA 13 right now by just pulling up the code from the PC version (port from Console): Ready?

How about finally licensing more stadiums. Blackburn cannot continue to play in Spanish named and as a Norwich fan, Carrow Road deserves to be in the game.

Or how about a stadium creation tool? After years of essentially the same game, another year of minor tweaks to the gameplay just doesn't cut anymore. Time is long past to add something new to this series, even if it's something like editing tools rather than the offline gameplay overhaul this series is in dire need of.

I'm with ya. That's the first question that popped into my head too after reading the blurb.

Obviously we're all speculating until we can get our hands on a demo, but here's hoping that they do realize that realism doesn't necessarily equal short passing, tiki-taka.

Of course I'd love more manager mode improvements and additions to make it more involving. For example, give us something to spend our wages on. There's no difference between getting $6K/wk @ Portsmouth and $21K/wk @ Wolves when you have nothing to do with it. However at this point I'd be satisfied with fixing the collision engine. If I'm in the box and CPU trips me while clearing the ball it's not a foul, but if I do the same it's a penalty? Come on man.

Not to turn this into a 'Wish List' thread, but In no particular order:

CPU vs CPU in more modes (Career, Leagues, Tourneys, etc) even if it means I don't get XPs.

More domestic leagues, particularly in the CONCACAF region, so we can have our own fake Champions League.

So we're all aware of the new UI for FIFA 14. Now, I may be a latecomer in realizing this but is anyone else aware thet Madden 25 will be using almost the exact same one:

I don't think this is a bad thing (if it works) but for CM just a new UI is not enough innovation for me. Somehow I get the feeling that EA will feel like the new UI (which isn't specific to FIFA) will be a big enough change to warrant it being the only one.

How about doing more with skill games adding a few for defence then using them in careermode so individual players can add to there attributes.

Let's put it this way, I'm not a soccer expert but I do follow the sport very very closely. I'm more strategy incompetent with the sport. Anyway I bought PES to begin the year and although it was decent, it just wasn't quite what I was looking for. Then I bought FIFA for $30 bucks on Amazon because I missed all of some of the little details that FIFA has (multiple fouls, proper foul advantages, bookings, career mode, and hand balls). Then as I played the game it sucked for the very same reason FIFA 12 did. It doesn't feel like soccer. In no way does FIFA on consoles show soccer off in the way the sport is played. It's exactly like NHL 13. It's all about North South attack attack attack BS. Two sports that involve so much creativity and skill, and it's not shown in either game.

Anyway I returned FIFA 13 after 2 months. So last week I started hearing about the mods for FIFA 13 on PC. So I downloaded the demo to see if the game would run and look half way decent on my laptop. I'm on your every day Toshiba home laptop with your normal graphics card. I downloaded the demo, started the game and began playing. It was laggy so I decided to quit out and adjust the game settings. After adjusting the settings I began playing again. It was flawless. As smooth as on the consoles. Don't get me wrong the graphics don't look as good as console or your high end PC. However, it still looks pretty damn good, even during cutscenes. From what I can tell the crowd is the only thing that took a big hit.

So after playing the demo I PM'ed Matt10 about the mods to download. When he directed me to them I began reading about them and decided to pull the trigger on the full version. I downloaded it, installed some mods to update the adboards, cyberfaces, jerseys, balls, UEFA Champions League, you name it. Then I added in the gameplay fixes. I started up the game and my oh my. I have never ever played a soccer game that good. The post Matt10 put on the 1st page of this thread is all it took to have a game where it felt like soccer. It's pretty hard to believe developers who do that for their job can't figure it out.

Teams build up, attack, pass, and everything else. It was unbelievable. I began a Chelsea Manager Mode and am having the most fun I have ever had in a soccer game. I have it on World Class with Matt10's very minor slider adjustments and it's challenging but fun. The rosters are made to separate attributes properly while forcing the players to slow the game down. The CPU actually forces me to play soccer the way it's meant to be played.

Anway to kind of wrap everything up, I suggest that anyone out there with even your every day laptop to try FIFA 13 for PC. Try the demo first though and switch the settings around. I use to only be able to play one game at a time because I'd become frustrated with the areas it lacked. Well, now I can only play one game at a time because by the end of one, I'm mentally drained because of how much it forces me to think. All in all get FIFA 13 with mods because it's as close to soccer as any video game will get.

Could not have said it better myself, glad you are enjoying it man. This is truly a new soccer experience. That is why if FIFA 14/15 doesn't go PC - I'm okay with it; FIFA 13 with edits are perfect.
