Take-Two Interactive has posted the release date for NBA 2K14, as well as a list of games headed to next-gen. NBA 2K14 will be released on October 1st and by all indications, it looks like it will also be headed next-gen systems.

Maybe we hear more on May 21st, when Microsoft plans to announce their next-gen system.

The only upgrade will be better anti aliasing....if you guys think that they are going to go high end on its first year get ready to be sorely disappointed...

Better crowds, better looking players, only thing the same can be the gameplay but they have to amaze us.

For 2k games on this new generation of consoles, I dont really expect a huge jump on graphics (as much as I want it to) other than the already stated better antialising and improved lightning (and particle effects if applicable) ...

what I am certainly expecting tho, is the inclussion of more content, be it ...

"under the hood" content: real time physics, AI enhancers and foot planting softwares; more parameters for enhancing the signature and simulation of players and teams, such as ratings, tendencies, hot spots, signature skills, coaching sliders; refinement of the AI logic for roster building, rotation management, trading, drafting and development ...

"visual" content: many more detailed and better contextual players animations; improved crowd graphics and animations; improved player introductions and halftime shows; more signature movements; improved likelyness of all players (faces and bodies); better stadium modelings ...

"modes/features" content: crew (previously in 2k11); shared offline association, where you can invite friends to come and play on an ongoing offline association (previously in 2k10); coop vs, where 2 or more players on the same console can play in online vs others (new); expectator mode, where 1 or more players can watch 2 other play (new); Legends mode, with a purpose, goal or story (ala 2k11-12); pre-post draft combine/summer league/NBDL features (previously in 2k10-12); contextual and true dynamic season/association/mycareer commentary, such as referring to trades, past scoring champions, past division and title winners, etc, etc ...

Is a given that we will se incremental improvements from year to year, but I need a 2k14 new console launch game that gives me flashes of what would be taking full advantage of the consoles inmense processing and ram power, as well as of the blue ray disc space.

This year, PS3/Xbox 360 is definite, next Gen is still doubtful for this year.
It'll then be on the current Gen for at least 1 or 2 more years.

They were until MLB 2K12 shipped. I think that was the last PS2 game for America. I'll stay on this gen until hex editing and etc is known for the Next Xbox or even the PS4. Surprised people are expecting a lot... It's just gonna be a port with NBA Live-lighting probably...

2K will sell most of their games on current gen this year. The more I think about it I am expecting mostly a port with better graphics and maybe a few next gen specific upgrade features

2k will be on ps3 till at least 2k17.

# 74 mike44 @ 05/22/13 04:57 AM
well they better upgrade on graphics because 2k graphics suck right now and all the players look to bulky

Some people don't own next generation, and can't afford it, so why should they miss out?

Plus, I mean they made NBA2K on PS2 until NBA2k12 so it will still be released on PS3/Xbox360 for a while maybe until NBA 2k17 at the earliest, maybe NBA 2k20 at the latest. That is if they are still making games at that time.

Would really like to see details such as wing-span in the next-gen.

Forget graphics and all that. If I still can't immediately distinguish Kevin Durant from Ibaka I'll be very disappointed. No more T-Rex player models unless that's how the player is IRL.

sheesh there were times where I shot threes with Ibaka because I thought he was Durant....

If they can't get wingspans they can at least have different body types for the lower half of the body! Skinny legs and calves for players like Durant! With separate lower halves they can finally add leg tattoos for certain players....

I'd rather them keep their player models the way they are now. 2k actually improved on the player's bodies in 2k13, I think they need to get the jersey's format right(switch to the new tight jerseys), the jersey's hang on the players, they have those big arm holes, and the collars are too big, the jerseys make the players look wide. Also getting the colors right on courts, jerseys and skin tone would be a plus.

I play on PC and one of the mods changed the cloth effect, and players looked very realistic and accurate once their jerseys were tighten.
