NBA Live 14 News Post

As mentioned earlier by Kotaku's Owen Good, NBA Live 14 looks to be a next-gen title. Frank Gibeau, President of EA Labels let the cat out of the bag during the EA quarterly earnings call today.

Quote:
Gibeau told investors the company plans "a full reveal at E3 including more next generation titles in development," for the coming year. "This will include breakthroughs in graphics and gameplay for some of our biggest franchises including Battlefield, FIFA, Madden, NBA Live, and Need for Speed."

Have they scheduled the announcement for cancellation yet?

No NCAA

I am really worried about this. I would take an NCAA game with completely generic players since I am a dynasty nut, but I don't think that would make economic sense for EA. :-(

I hope NBA Live delivers a solid game because 2K has been getting lazy lately

I like 2K tho but I have always been a Live fan

Hopefully, it's not a Live 07 kind of breakthrough...

Only gameplay videos count. Never fall for the "Wow!" next-gen trailers again.

another reason to hold on to my money for a while. so many things I want but so many things coming out too. I really hope EA can deliver with this. Also, as several others stated above an NCAA BBall game would be nice.

I don't think they are going to cancel. New generation is a great chance for them to 'start fresh' (well, for some people).

But they don't even need a new generation to make breakthroughs when it comes to Live, the current gen has everything they need and more. What a waste of a generation.

This is great news, I'm hoping EA can make a quality game this year, let alone release it.. All I'm worried about is realism, because EA's basketball series for the past decade has been more of a arcade-type game.. Hoping they reward sim players.

so no xbox 360/ PS3 release? i hope this isnt forcing people to buy a nextgen console

I don't see why they wouldn't launch it on 360/PS3.. They launched all of their basketball titles on PS2/Xbox until NBA Live 09, same thing with 2K, they launched up until 2K11 on old consoles. I wouldn't be worried about it.

i actually think they will push people to buy new consoles in the upcoming year. Making exclusives that cant be ported to consoles

did they not say this transitioning from last gen to current gen?

# 19 ncaafootball14markus @ 05/07/13 10:32 PM
there is no doubt that the graphics will improve. unfortunately, better graphics don't mean better gameplay, as clearly seen with current gen. so, we'll just have to wait and see.

So what this means is that EA has come up with new engines for NBA, Madden, and FIFA. They said they are already playable in their new engines. This has nothing to do with current gen. I'm sure Madden and FIFA will continue development but you won't get the new technology unless it's already planned on being put in. As for NBA, it's not a bad idea to focus on releasing for the next gen systems. If they screw up, they and people will say, "Well, it was the first game this generation, next year will be better."
