Fans Have Already Voted More Than 12 Million Times;
Daily Vote Totals Up Nearly 70% Over Last Year’s Campaign

EA SPORTS™, the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA®), and the National Hockey League (NHL®) announced today the 16 NHL players who have advanced to the next round of the EA SPORTS NHL®14 Cover Vote. Beginning today, the campaign shifts to a 16-player bracket format as players compete in head-to-head matchups for a spot in the quarterfinals. Fans have voted more than 12 million times through the first two rounds, with daily vote totals up nearly 70% over the NHL 13 Cover Vote Campaign.

Fans can vote an unlimited number of times at NHL.com/CoverVote. Voting for this round closes on May 12 at 11:59pm ET. The winner of the cover vote campaign will be revealed as the NHL 14 Cover Athlete during the 2013 Stanley Cup® Final.

NHL® 14 Cover Vote Round of 16 Matchups

The Round of 16 Bracket features many storied NHL team rivalries including two Original SixTM matchups: the Boston Bruins vs. Toronto Maple Leafs (Tyler Seguin vs. James van Riemsdyk) and the Montreal Canadiens vs. Toronto Maple Leafs (P.K. Subban vs. Joffrey Lupul). In addition, last year’s Stanley Cup Final is reignited in the matchup between Los Angeles Kings forward Anze Kopitar and New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur. Finally, two Atlantic Division rivals meet as Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds attempts to upset Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin.

This year fans can double their voting power by using these player specific hashtags on “Twitter Vote Thursdays.” Each player specific hashtag used on Twitter on Thursdays will be counted as two official votes. If you know what is right, you will vote for Brodeur. He's probably retiring this year and this would be a fitting close to his historic career.

I'm a huge Devils fan so Id love to see him win. Being from Columbus I also wouldn't mind it if Bob won

Bob or Brodeur for sure!

Subban deserves it. Imagine the marketing opportunities.

But they would want someone from a less "hockey loving" town. Becuase people from Montreal will buy the game anyway, but if bobrovsky is on the cover maybe more people from columbus would buy the game. Plus I would say that the vote is rigged anyway, based on last years and this years results.

Man I get your point, but I know a ton of people who love hockey here. I also got a lot of friends that buy this game. Columbus really gets a bad wrap. If they keep a lot of talent and come out off the momentum of this year Columbus will have great attendance. The biggest knock I have on my town is that If teams lose no one comes unless its the buckeyes

I know columbus has a great fanbase and didn't mean to take a shot at anyone, just when I was writing this comment bobrovsky came to mind, cuz the kid is such a beast

Thanks man and no sidnt feel no shots were takin. Bob is the hype here right now. Don't know how he's viewed elsewhere... But I know I've played some Maple Leaf fans on NHL and they like hate Columbus also met some fans from the hockey traditionalist that want us canned lol. Don't quite get why Columbus can be so disliked.
