NBA Live 14 News Post

After some digging by GoodGameBro, it looks like NBA Live 14 (if it actually ships) will include Ultimate Team. EA Sports recently updated their NBA Live website mentioning more details coming soon. The sooner the better...

Browsing LinkedIn, we stumbled upon the profile of an EA SPORTS software engineer who listed that he had worked on NBA Live 14 as of September 2012. Two items were listed under his work for NBA Live 14, but the only one that was actually named was “Ultimate Team Mode”. The remaining mode was listed as “TBA”, and no additional context was found within the profile regarding either potential feature.

I agree, they should definitely just focus on next gen and start anew since they obviously lost to the competition in this current gen.

PC version would be nice...

Let's hope we see something this year or soon. I'm a big 2k fan but the more competition the better.

They have a lot of work that needs to be done to their "Mentality" towards the "Customization" of their game.

Compared to 2k, Live has always been very limited in what they allow the gamer to do with the game/players.

Each player in NBA 2k can be customized by the gamer to give each player some "character" that allows every player/game to seem/play different.

Customization, customization, customization!!!

If they take '10 and just improve the visuals without expanding the customization level of their game, it will not come close.

I also believe the gaming community as a whole has grown tired of spending $60 on EA's Football/Basketball games, just to see them "Heading" in the right direction.

They better come strong with some "WOW" factor that's different/better than the standards other sports titles have set.

Side Note:
Why not start with a College Game and build to roll into your Pro game?
Even if the market is not as strong as the NBA, it would probably profit more than a Pro title trying to play catch-up to an NBA title who's all around build is up there.

Matter of fact, do a combination of the two.
March Madness brings in Billions and there's no game being marketed during that time.

Think outside the box.............!

This discovery is irrelevant if the gameplay continues to be an absolute mess.

Hopefully EA doesn't waste another generation of a console trying to fix their broken engine.

I think EVERY single game that ships will get a new game engine for next

But I used to love the LIVE series .... But I'm just going to wait and see

I've been playing FUT since FIFA 11 and MUT since Madden 10, if LIVE has UT, I don't think I will ever leave the house...

EA's getting ahead of themselves. Make a game that will ACTUALLY release and has realistic player models, movements, and gameplay. Start there before you bring up Ultimate Team.

Getting ahead of themselves ? the game has to have modes. Nobody is gonna buy it to play exhibition only.

True. NBA Live has been around for a pretty long time, too, I find it hard for them to get ahead of themselves simply by adding a mode that THEY created for other games in to this one.

I think it's great that they're talking game modes because iirc, last year, all we got was who's going to be on the cover and little to no information elsewhere.

I know a guy whose LinkedIn account has his job title as-
VP Of Important Stuff to Do.

Interesting bit of Scooby work here if it pans out but I wouldn't jump on or off the wagon just yet.

May sound silly but what is ultimate team?

I would love to see them do an Elite 50 with their inclusion of the top 50 players in NBA history in their prime.
With 2K I usually make my own ultimate fantasy teams, but using rookie Tim Duncan or '97 Shaq doesn't equal the '00 or '03 versions of them.

A mode where you build your team by trading, opening, buying cards/packs of cards.
See FIFA and Madden

I have zero interest in Ultimate Team. If I was younger and still into collecting sports card this might appeal to me, but not anymore.

What about leagues or clubs like whats in EA's FIFA and NHL games? Something similar to what 2k11 had with crew.

I didn't know Commander Shepard played for the Spurs.

excited for this.

# 19 dubcity @ 06/06/13 01:57 AM
Ooh, sounds fun. I know my idea of a good time is to play against guys who will spend actual money to buy a team with LeBron, MJ, Kevin Durant, classic Shaq and Kobe, just so they can pretend like they are actually good at something. At one point FIFA did UT team right, but now every EA UT is pretty lame.

# 20 MEANFIDDLER @ 06/11/13 05:52 AM
I think wasting money on any ultimate team game is extremely stupid because all people have to do is ip boot you out of the game so they get the win and you end up losing contracts on players that you have spent real money on! It is literally like getting robbed! EA refuses to respond and do anything to deter people from cheating and ip booting so I think it is better to just avoid ultimate team at all costs until EA can provide a safe online environment to play in!
