NCAA Football 14 News Post

The Big East conference, soon to be completely defunct as a football conference, is being replaced by it's successor, the American Athletic Conference (or American for short) in NCAA Football 14 this year.

Quote:
I recently caught up with an EA representative who set the record straight with all of the conference changes that will go into effect in this year's NCAA Football game. The most notable being the removal of the Big East, as it is now basketball only. Well, technically the Big East is still in the game as the remaining members -- USF, UCONN, Cincinnati, Rutgers, and Louisville -- are joined by newcomers Temple, Houston, SMU, Memphis and UCF. Things will change for the conference, once again, next year, but for now this is the make-up. However, the conference will now be known as the American Athletic Conference, and its new name will be represented in NCAA Football 14.

EA's Brad Hilderbrand confirmed to me that the Big East name has been replaced with American, "their preferred shorthand name rather than AAC." Since the conference has yet to finalize their logo, EA is using the NCAA pennant as a placeholder; it will be updated once the official American conference logo is decided.

There is no indication yet that future conferences moves will be incorporated into the game's dynasty mode, such as Tulsa becoming a member of the American later on, leaving Conference USA. We've submitted a request for comment and will update if we get anything back!

Thanks The Gaming Tailgate!

"There is no indication yet that future conferences moves will be incorporated into the game's dynasty mode"

Custom Conferences is available every offseason, so you can make any future conference moves that you want.

That's very short notice for it to be included in this game that releases in July. How many times have we heard about something not being added to the game because there was not enough time to add it? Just wondering.
It's really just a name change. They don't have a logo yet, so they didn't have to change Jersey patches, field art, etc. They'll be doing that in an update post-launch.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The ability to do that is already in the game. As is the ability to increase conference size to have a championship game. Anyone looking to add App State etc. can just add the TB squads in as Independents and then move them into their eventual conferences later in dynasty.

Did I miss an announcement that Teambuilder teams can be added* to Dynasty Mode? If not, then this statement is false.

*Note that to add is not the same as to replace.

Exactly Kaiser right now we can only make those moves if the team(s) in question happen to already exist within our dynasty problem is as we all know most often that isn't the case. Would really love the ability to add tb teams in future years

Exactly you still have to replace teams. I just thought EA may have anticipated this and worked around it but there are still probably minor licensing issues there.

Because they are stil FCS.....not FBS! App doesnt move to the Sun Belt until after the 2013 season...and im pretty sure charlotte goes up either the same yr as app or a year later.

It would be nice to be able to add teams in, instead of having to swap a team out in order to use TeamBuilder. Agreed.

I wish they would have never taken out the 1-AA schools. I loved playing with them against the big boys.

If you add a teambuilder team, you MUST replace it with a current team, FCS cannot be replaced. That is NOT what we want. We want to be able to ADD a team to a dynasty, online specifically. Also, being able to turn a conference OFF by having ZERO teams in it. If you attempt to make a super conference in 13", you will be left with some really strange 4 team conferences.(the min # of teams per conf in 13") Those lowly teams skew the game completely, some making unnatural national title runs by going undefeated, replaying FCS over and over to get there.
What really gets me is the fact that 13' had such lag in the main menus. You will spend so much time swooshing around boring menus without it ever being fluid. Watch EA change the menus to be sleek and fast and call it a presentation upgrade!

Nope. They don't. It sucks. In fact there is so much wrong with this game, that ncaa 13 puts this game to shame

Ok I read like ten comments about app. State and the other teams, they're not even in the fbs, not for a year

Erod328's point is that Old Dominion is not FBS the 2013 season either, so why wouldn't other schools who are also in transition be included. But it seems a pretty moot point regardless.
