Madden NFL 25 News Post

EA Sports has posted the release schedule for the Madden NFL 25 feature playbooks.

SportsNation will reveal the Madden NFL 25 cover athlete, as well as an exclusive video of the Run Free feature Wednesday, April 24th at 8:00 PM EST, on ESPN2.
  • Run Free - April 24
  • Infinity Engine 2 - April 24
  • Connected Franchise Part 1 - May 6
  • Connected Franchise Part 2 - May 20
  • Madden Share - June 24
  • Madden Ultimate Team - July 1
  • All-Madden Team - July 8
It's nice to see how blogs dedicated to Connected Franchise, which we are assuming is the sequel to Connected Careers last season. The first two blogs seem like NCAA might have already covered them somewhat, and Madden share is a big mystery.

What intrigues you the most about the list?

Would be awesome to see something like (McShay, Kiper) "Buffalo has traded up with Philadelphia, could they be thinking QB here with Geno Smith or maybe DE with Ziggy Ansah"?
Definitely, or at the very least, limit the tweets to specific people so different people aren't saying the exact same things over time. Throw in a bunch of variations of saying the same thing so that it is more organic and less bot-like.

All it will take is a true coach mode like HC for me to buy. If I can just call plays without touching a stick and watch them unfold I'm in.

However based on last years less than accurate information I will be waiting for a user to confirm this is in the right way.

After viewing this https://twitter.com/UniWatch/status/...093249/photo/1

I hope I can be owner of all 32 teams, fire Nike, redo all uniforms and thereby save the entire league.

I have almost ZERO interest in this game after getting my hopes drilled into the Earth's core by CCM last year. I went back to Madden 12 for a functional Franchise experience.

I usually come to this site daily at this time of year but not this year. I would LOVE to be wrong, don't get me wrong. I hope it's a great game with massive improvements to CCM but I will wait and buy it after others beta-test it for me. I have always been a day one buyer but last year killed it for me.

Would you guys like to see team visits or phone calls in Madden like NCAA has? What about team dinners and ''wining and dining" FA's during the offseason?
I also would like to see the bold be more than just how the players show up on the list, in one CCM online I had to miss the draft due to a family emergency - the CPU really drafted horribly for me - I want "My Draft Board" to have options;
#1 ranking players in the order I see fit and that potentially affecting their draft stock,
#2 blacklisting players (ie remove them from my board completely),
#3 I want the CPU to use "My Draft Board" exclusively if I have to miss the draft for some reason.
#4 setting a "range" where I want to target certain players, and having the CPU take into account the "range" I set and perhaps accept draft trade offers to get into that range for me, again if I am auto-piloted...

Even if the web stuff worked, I can't exactly be on my smart phone conducting my Madden Draft at a funeral and while I hope that does not happen again, I can't very well ask 7 other guys to wait when you consider the scheduling issues we had already had to that point...

I actually think my league would possibly consider "auto drafting" if this was an option.

all this talk of what everyone wants reminds me of what I really want... i want a madden that is a blast to play again. i want to accually have FUN playing the game "on the field" . I want to have the feeling of wanting to play another game right after i finished a game. i cant tell you how many years its been since i accually played 2 straight games of video game football without taking the disk out of the tray after ONE game, saying to myself "thats enough for today". that is usually followed by some other sports title or hours of call of duty. I believe ALL of us want a game of video game football that is hard to put down or take out of our disk tray. Its been a long time now and maybe this isnt the year for that again, or maybe it is, either way i hope that "day" comes soon

It would be great if you could try out players before you sign them to see whose the best free agent of the group.

I try to never 'user pick' or 'user catch' because I find it is VERY easy to cheese and make it glitchy. Late in this past football season, Id get the urge to play football. I'd throw in madden, and I'd turn it off after the opening kickoff because I'd see so many unreal and cheesy things in the game that I really couldnt get a nice simulation experience. IF EA thinks they can hold their own against the simulation of MLB the Show and NBA 2k...they are sh*tting themselves.

Sadly, I feel the exact same way. I put in Madden a few times over the last 2 months and literally turn it off after 10 minutes each time. The game is just so far behind other sports titles (and games in general) that it is just brutal.

like i've said before, what sucks for me is that there is no other sport video game that i would rather play than football. Its just backwards for our community of sports gamers to NOT have the most popular sport in the country depicted in the highest quality in our games. Less popular sports in this country right now have FAR better simulations in the video game form. I just dont see how that is possible with all the money and revenue that surrounds the NFL and big time NCAA football. You would think a filthy rich gamer who is also a rabid football fan would step-up and throw and unlimited amount of money at EA or some other company and say "here you go, your budget is sky high, now do what you must to make the greatest football sim POSSIBLE, happen." ..lol mabe im just dreamin.. point is judging by the whole package from other titles, our football games are waaaaay behind, i just dont understand why.

I'll admit, some of the information has me "somewhat" interested....but that screenshot?.....did somebody have "big head" mode activated?...

I'm somewhat excited for tomorrow... hopefully the small amount of excitement I have now won't die down immediately after. We shall see.

Can't tell much except that they haven't done anything with the facemasks. It's a minor part of the game could be fixed.

I was thinking along these lines the other day - and for me it comes down to some "clunky" issues with the game...

...back in the PS2 days I could play for hours and hours on end, so what changed?

I think XP progression drags me down (actually having to go pick what to progress as I know the CPU won't value the ratings I do), having to "practice" for my backups to progress at all drags me down, the expanded ratings make roster management more complex, the game is herky jerky on screen as the movement is not as "fluid" as PS2, the animation system leaves you bored because there is never that "wow did you see that" moment anymore.
And for me personally, I hate not being able to play in an online league/franchise that allows custom playbooks, custom sub packages, and position changes.

While I like the idea of more and more depth - training camp, mini-camp "drills", hidden ratings, expanded ratings system, there is a point where some of the depth, especially when there is no viable "simulate it" option, becomes tedious. I hate NCAA Football the game, because I hate recruiting. If you leave the CPU to do it for you, you get garbage players and in online dynasty you have to actively recruit to get anyone you want.

I understand why others enjoy it - I am not blasting it at all, it just is not for me. CCM in Madden 13 required a ton of user "management" and so between each game you were "forced" to practice or fall behind the other user teams.

That is why if you see me post on hidden ratings, training camp ideas, more detailed practice ideas - I always advocate for a way to "sim" that and still get the benefits - because for me the games, especially playoff games against my friends is what I play the game for...

So many interviews I read from SCEA about the show always tend to dwell on 'keeping it the most simulation possible'. Madden always trys to cater to casual fans and little kids. Remember that terrible trailer a couple years ago for Madden 11? Simpler...quicker...deeper? how the F does that make sense? They'll never understand.. and if people think EA gives a rats *** they are delusional. Once I saw the video of them using production guys for motion capture I threw in the towel. This game will never be good for die hard sim gamers. And its really a shame. /rant
I don't think SCEA caters to the SIM crowd as much as they create a game that can be as arcade or as SIM as you want.
OPTIONS

That nonsensical approach just gave me a headache typing it. smh
That's pretty much my point. You can have both(SCEA delivers) yet EA seems to think that it has to be 1 way and that way needs to have a balance of sim mixed with casual crowd stuff.

Anyways...I won't be totally happy until a REAL coach mode is in (and a new passing system )

but all this talk has me wanting to throw in Madden again to start a new CCM.

Does anyone know what time the blog actually goes up? I know the first trailer is tonight, but aren't the blogs separate?

I think "hate" is too strong of a word in reference to video gaming, so I will state I strongly despise EA's approach to football gaming. Nothing worse than something with all the potential in the world just being squandered and misused. Soooo ready to see what Kolbe can do with this franchise on the new consoles, if anything.

Anyway, I wonder what the heck the "run free" feature is considering they have been letting Users "run free" all over the field with little regard for ratings, inertia, change of direction or balance for most of this gen and the entire last 3 years.
In another thread several us were discussing the same thing. It is so fixed it boggles my mind and it is just another way to garner casual interest. No way any other position had a chance.
