NBA 2K13 Roster Update Details (4-12-13)

Another NBA 2K13 roster update arrived this morning. It contains 1 player rating adjustment for Kevin Love, who is out for the season. Everything else was player injury specific. As always, thanks to The Real 2K Insider for his breakdown.

The problem with Wall having such a high pass rating is that it kinda messes up any scaling idea for PG attributes. If you give Wall a 94, you would pretty much have to max out Calderon/Vasquez/Rondo/Paul/Holiday.

Now Wall is a very good passer, but his true strength is to capitalize on defenses having to double him on drives leading to open shots. So he's a really good passer in the context of his aggressive ball dominating game, but as a pure passer, he's a tier below the top PGs like Paul and Calderon at least to me.

My passing tiers look something like this:

>95 Paul,Calderon,Rondo,Nash
90-95 Rubio,Holiday,Vasquez,Lebron
85-90 Wall,Dragic,Nelson,Teague
80-85 Parker,Westbrook,Jennings,Lillard,Curry

And so on...the main point being that athletic PGs like Wall and Westbrook are not neccessarily better pure passers than say Dragic and Nelson, even though they might average something like 1 more assist per game.
I think it's much closer than most people think, there are many good to great passers in the league, some of them simply don't have the athleticism or offensive arsenal to be more than a very good playmaker.

On a different note, can a Nets fan explain to me why DWill is not even averaging 8 assists per game? Haven't seen many BKN games lately, did he have injury problems or what's going on with him?

@mango,

as for as pass ratings go i gave nash rondo cp3 and rubio 99's. i based it more off ability to pass rather than assist #'s as those can get skewed by team play styles, which is why i gave lebron a 97 or something on his passing.

as far as d-will goes his assists are low because the nets run an iso offense pretty much.

Although the passing sig skills matter, the passer rating itself seems to have no effect (other than alley oops?). Has anyone seen any evidence in the diff between a 90 and 60 passing other than alley oops?

passes get deflected less with a higher rating, and it REALLY comes into play with bounce passes.

also a higher rating does more flashy passes

Don't feel bad. I've been getting destroyed since Day 1 when it comes to rebounding with the Pacers. I had a game LAST week where I got ZERO offensive boards and the Knick user TWELVE. I was soooooooooo livid. I still won the game, but it was ONLY because I shot like 50+% for the game.

It seems like Paul George is the only person that even goes after rebounds. Hibbert and West will block out, but they won't even attempt to grab a board.

Until recently Derons ankles were horrible. This past month or so hes finally in full health.

The remnants of Averah's **** offense hasn't helped either along with two of the worst shooting forwards that start in the league

Believe me. I am one of the BIGGEST advocates for melo receiving an upgrade(ask the board lol). I have watched every knicks game and have seen all those plays. He has hustled more and played more defense this year. but melo has a "rep" and is not a 2k "royalty" such as KD , kobe, wade, etc. therefore he wont get credit for his recent changed mindset. He should have higher hustle but 99 is a strettttchhhhhhhhhhhh. Also i have seen plays when he hustles. I also have seen plays where he was ahead of lebron on a fast break. saw lebron coming. and didnt even bother getting in his way. and an alley oop was given up. It can work both ways slightly
