Experience the ultimate in sports simulation authenticity at a great value
with NBA 2K13 and MLB 2K13 in one convenient package

2K Sports today announced that the critically acclaimed NBA 2K13 will be paired with the upcoming MLB 2K13 in a combination pack, available for purchase on March 5, 2013 at participating North American retailers for $79.99, for both the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.

“Bundling two of the biggest sports franchises again just made sense,” said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports. “In the same way that fans don’t limit themselves to one sport, sports video gamers seek the level of variety and convenience offered in this package. Combining NBA 2K13 and MLB 2K13 will make it easy for fans to discover the latest entries to these popular franchises at an incredible value.”

The NBA 2K13/MLB 2K13 Combo Pack will feature a full retail version of 2K Sports’ new baseball title, MLB 2K13, along with a full retail version of NBA 2K13, both of which currently retail for $59.99 individually. Fans who purchase the NBA 2K13/MLB 2K13 Combo Pack, in addition to those who purchase the standalone MLB 2K13 title, will be eligible to compete in this year’s Perfect Game Challenge*, which will award a sum total of $1 million across 31 prize pools for gamers who pitch the best perfect games in this year’s contest.

“I’ve been a fan of NBA 2K13 cover athlete Kevin Durant for years and to share a video game cover with one of basketball’s elite players is a big honor,” added David Price, Cy Young award-winning pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays and MLB 2K13 cover athlete. “Fans can expect to experience 2K Sports’ signature authenticity throughout this new package, from the sting of my fastball to Kevin’s clutch shooting.”

“Being named as a face of NBA 2K13 was an honor, but adding a Cy Young winner like David makes the cover that much more memorable,” concluded Kevin Durant, NBA 2K13 cover athlete. “Fans can expect the ultimate sports package with him and me gracing 2K Sports’ latest bundle.”

Developed by Visual Concepts, a 2K Sports studio, NBA 2K13/MLB 2K13 Combo Pack is rated E for everyone by the ESRB.

I was going to buy NBA 2k13 eventually... this might be a decent option.

# 2 Blzer @ 02/19/13 10:52 AM
Last year this was $69.99, right?

Good to see this is an option on PS3 as well. I just might do this.

Smart move on 2k's part, this makes it very tempting for a day 1 purchase

Still iffy on MLB 2k13 but I still haven't played NBA 2k13, so depending on how people judge the game on here/other sites I might pick this up. If not I'll just get NBA 2k13/MLB 2k12.

Yes, it was.

This is tempting because I could see myself wanting to play a baseball game this year and I want to get into MLB 2K again this year, especially since I did not really play 2K12 outside of the demo.

hmmm. wonder why they would raise the price of this deal when one of the games has no upgrades [allegedly] outide of a roster update.

The Jay Z Influence!

Yep, I'm with you. I need to wait and see if MLB 2k13 is worth getting or not. If it is, then this is a definite option for me.

I don't know the sales numbers for the combo pack last year, but I wonder how the price affected stand-alone sales of NBA 2K12 and MLB 2K12.

I'd like to make assumptions on how retailers reacted to the MSRP. I won't because I don't know, but I want to.

Crappy deal.

NBA 2k13 can be had for $30 brand new, which would make MLB 2k13 a $50 game based on this combo pack. Nothing we know about MLB 2k13 leads me to believe it is not worth buying at a price anything close to that.

Where have you seen that deal?
The cheapest I've seen NBA is $39.99 at Bestbuy.

For me, I was willing to pay full price for MLB anyway so this is a sweet deal for me to jump on.
Futureshop (in Canada) has a trade-in deal giving $60 for 2 select games (including MLB2K12).
I'm trading that in so I'll be getting this combo for $20. Awesome!

Amazon had 2k13 for $27 last week if I'm not mistaken. Microsoft and Sony are also offering it for $30 as a digital download.

As for the trade in deal at Future Shop. That's a great deal if you're able to get $60 for MLB 2k2 and another game. Can't fault you for jumping on that. $20 would be a steal for both.

That wouldn't be a crappy deal though if the game retails at $60 on release.

In terms of quality, different story possibly.

Amazon still has NBA 2K13 for $30. But only for the PS3.

This is their idea of a bargain? 1) A lot of us baseball fans already own NBA 2k13. 2) Cover athlete is NOT a reason to buy a sports game, just like having spin magazine pick your soundtrack and MLB season today is not a reason to buy.

# 16 DJ @ 02/19/13 03:59 PM
Glad this is available for both consoles. I will likely pass since I already have NBA 2K13 on both consoles.

# 17 dubcity @ 02/19/13 05:17 PM
I've held off on buying NBA 2K13, mostly because I'm not feeling the look of the game, but $80 is kinda pushing it. Think I'll wait and buy both used on Amazon.

# 18 SynShadowzz @ 02/19/13 05:45 PM
So uh, can you buy MLB 2K13 without having to buy NBA2K13?

Will there be a stand-alone version of MLB2K13?

# 19 DBMcGee3 @ 02/19/13 05:46 PM
You'd probably have to pay me $80 to play the MLB game, assuming it's anything like previous versions. NBA 2k13 is an absolute gem though.
