Summary:
On February 1st, 2013 the Detroit Red Wings took on the St. Louis Blues for the second time this season. In the season-opener, the Blues thrashed the Red Wings by a score of 6-0. Detroit was looking for payback, but found themselves down 3-2 going into the third period. The turning point came when Blues Forward, David Backes took a match penalty in the final period which caused the momentum to shift in Detroit's favor. The Wings would score threee unanswered goals and go on to win the game 5-3.
